Wonderful

Everything was wonderful. It was a very hot day but the guides did their best to keep us cool. A little too many sweets if there can be such a thing but they did box up cupcakes at end to take to go. Guides were very knowledgeable and helpful not just with info on this area but other areas and tours also.

Learn about great NYC dessert spots

This tour takes you through some great well-known and not so well-known dessert spots. There is only one wine tasting spot (could have used more). They took us to two great chocolate places, ice cream, cupcake and a cookie place. Also had a mocha icy coffee drink. At first, I thought the samples were small, but as we went through the tour, I realized that by the end I could barely eat the cupcake-which was so delicious I pushed on :) The tour guide was great, gave us history of Upper West Side and history of chocolate and wine making. There was an assistant tour guide that went to the next location to get the samples so there was very little wait time when we got to a new location. Some of the locations are small and we spent time waiting outside. This was ok since it was a nice day, but I would avoid going in the middle of winter. The actual walk is around a mile in the whole 2.5 hours so its a very easy walk.

Nicole was a great tour guide who was really knowledgeable and gave us great insight on the places we visited. The bakery makes the BEST cookies in the WORLD honestly the best thing we've ever eaten. This was a great way to celebrate my friend's birthday on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

Not As Good As Other Tours
Fri, Jan 30  2:30 PM PamelaField Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
This tour did not compare in quality to a walking food tour that I took with another tour company through Greenwich Village. The tour guide didn't have much information about the Upper West Side or it's history and she didn't have the level of professionalism that you'd expect. The food establishments didn't know we were coming and we were treated like ordinary customers. We waited while the tour guide stood in line to buy the food and pay for it. It really wasn't worth the money. You could do just as well walking up Broadway from 72nd Street on your own.

Lot's of Fun

Nicole is an excellent tour guide, very informative and a joy to be around. Although the chocolates were very good, I actually liked the other desserts better. I'm not a big wine drinker so the wine tasting was just right for me. It was very cold the day we took the tour but the we didn't suffer from the cold since most of the stops are fairly close together. This tour takes place in a part of Manhattan that we have not spent any time in before so it was neat to learn and see a different area.

An excellent activity

A group of friends (actually all adult family members who like each other) enjoyed the tour a lot. We learned as we tasted about the food and wine, as well as the neighbourhood. I am really going to try hard to let chocolate rest on my tongue in the future. The one thing that would have improved the experience was a place to sit in the last wine shop (but probably not possible?).

Enjoyed

I enjoyed the tour. Would have liked to have tour more wine shops. The only chocolate place I didn't care for was Neuhaus Chocolate. It just wasn't the type of chocolate I like. We were only given one small sample and it wasn't one of the chocolates they are know for. Nichole was fantastic. Very knowledgeble and a people person. I would love to do another tour with her.

Must go on this tour

My mother and I took the Chocolate, Dessert and Wine tour of the UWS, and had such a great time. We really enjoyed ourselves and learned quite a bit. We are both foodies that are crazy about chocolate and desserts, and what we enjoyed most was going to places we had never heard of and would not have known about otherwise. We even went back to a couple of the places before leaving NYC just to take some extra goodies home with us. We took a couple of other food tours on our trip, and this tour and guide, Nicole, were the best. I would highly recommend it.
