Fun and interesting tour with historical details. It was fun trying foods we were not familiar with and we enjoyed sharing our opinions with the other members of our group.

Recently went on the NoLita Food Tour. Had a great time! Was able to try some different foods and different restaurants/food stores that we normally would not have tried. There is plenty of food for most people to consider it a full meal. So, show up hungry and don't make dinner reservations for afterwards! Odds are, you will be full once the tour is finished.

I think we all found the tour interesting, our guide seemed well informed. The food we sampled was all very good and we tried a few things we would have never eaten, but found to be very good. I would recommend this tour.

It was weird and didn't have that great of time, because I thought we were getting pizza and cheesecake. Not want I wanted at all...

Had 2 hours of following a knowledgeable guide in Little Italy, tasting great food and learning the history and changes taken place in the area.

Great way to get to know NYC through her food!

In spite of stormy weather, we thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Our guide, Dan, was knowledgeable, patient, interested in each member of our group. Each sampling/eating experience was well done, excellent food, a restaurant/shop with an interesting history, all within easy walking distance. We were so full when we finished the tour!!!

Good eating in NoLita

Dan our guide was personable and knowledgeable about the area. I had ordered a "gift" for my two birthday family members - each a delicious cupcake. We stopped at a number of ethnic food purveyors. My favorite was the Italian sandwich with peppers, cheese and ham. Others enjoyed the Vietnam sandwiches with chicken or pork. The cheese shop was a must see and taste. The whole tour was in pouring rain, but Dan made it enjoyable despite the terrible weather. He was also solicitous about food allergies, although there were none in our group. There is walking so be prepared for walking on the streets and sidewalks.

Tasty Tour but Guide Just OK
Sun, Aug 21, 11   2:30 PM lisastern7 Female 20-29 Local Family Without Children
Went on this tour with my parents (in their 60s) to celebrate my dad's birthday. The size of the group was fine, the stops were well-selected, and there was the right amount of walking / eating / history. Our guide was very knowledgeable, but only kind of personable. He walked ahead of the group the majority of the time and was not sufficiently extroverted to facilitate discussions with the points of contact at each stop. Would recommend the tour to others with the caveat that the guide was just ok.

Lots of delicious desserts, 4 cheeses and 4 beers

There is lots of walking around the Upper West Side on this tour, so we got to see a few of the more famous buildings like the Dakota, and our tour guide had some idea of the history although she was still in training and didn't know tooooo much. We tasted hazelnut chocholate gnache chip bread from Grandaisy (delicious!), warm chocolate chip cookies from Levain Bakery (absolutely fantastic!), a choice of pistachio or hazlenut gelato or a sorbet from GROM (my personal favorite on the tour was the pistachio gelato! fresh ingredients really make a difference in gelato -- even if you don't do the tour, I would recommend a trip to GROM.), Italian doughnuts from Bomboloni (Italian pasteries are not my thing, but these were as good as any Italian pasteries that I have tried), hot chocolate and a spicy dark chocolate bon bon from Jacques Torres Chocolate (yummy with a kick), and we finished the tour with 4 different beers and 4 different cheeses including yet another dark chocolate paired with a dessert beer. We even had a little time to check out the Upper West Side local market, Zabar's. All in all this was a great tour, and I would definitely recommend it.

excellent tour of ethnic eateries in NYC's NoLiTa
Thu, Aug 18, 11   11:30 AM librarian84 Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
This tour lasted about two hours. We visited several ethnic eateries in the area that used to be known as Little Italy in Manhattan. We were with a small group and Dan was our guide. He knew the history of the city well, and was a knowledgeable, pleasant guide. On the tour we sampled an Italian sandwich and cheeses, a Vietnamese summer roll, Mexican fries and hibiscus water, and a candy shop -- also a few others that I can't remember. Everyone enjoyed the tour. One stop had bathrooms available, and though no water was given, there were a couple of stops where it could be purchased.

Good overall, but found some things a bit strange
Sat, Aug 13, 11   2:00 PM melgan Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
I have been on food tours in other cities, and this one was a bit different in that the tour did not seem to have a well established relationship or pre-arranged agreement with the businesses featured on the tour. The guide would simply go in and order a few menu items, pay for them on her debit card, then split them out and distribute using plates or cups that she pulled out of her backpack. We would then look around the restaurant for seating, or sample the food on the street. It seemed a bit awkward. That being said, our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. We had a good time on the tour, and enjoyed everything we tried except the beet soup.

Wonderful Food Tour

We enjoyed the tour very much and would like to do another when we are in NYC agan. Our guide was Dan Wolpow and he was very thorough. He knew quite a lot about the area and could tell us about the various places we visited. The group was small only five people, but it was a very congenial group. No complaining, no one dominating the conversation.

Already planning many more food tours...

By way of an unavoidable situation, we ended up having Joyce, the owner, as our tour guide. Lucky us! She was knowledgable, savvy and fun. We enjoyed unique current information and local history about the areas we visited and tasted excellent local foods. We will be including more tours on every trip to NYC.
