Great Guide, Educational and Entertaining

Above all, our guide Robert really made the food tour worthwhile. He was personable, entertaining and helpful in general. Thinking about the same tour with a more serious, monotone person wouldn't even be worth going to. On the tour, the most educational part was the cheeses, my personal favorite the chocolate, and my least favorite was the coffee stop, which was disappointing( I am a huge coffee fan). The coffee we had was mediocre, and the 3 different types we tried were all basically the same. As far as improvement, that's where I believe you need to focus. The length of the tour was good, and it was fun as a couple as well. Also the size of the group was good, it shouldn't be any bigger in my opinion.

My mother, sister and I recently visited New York for the first time. We decided to take a food tour to familiarize ourselves with the areas local establishments. We were so delighted with the outcome! The food was wonderful, but it was our guide that really made the tour. She kept us entranced with the area's history, fun facts and information about the food we were sampling. She knew many of the restaurant and shop owners by their first names and was extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of the city. Overall, the food was great and we just had a blast! We'll be back next year!

I enjoyed the tour. Would have liked to have tour more wine shops. The only chocolate place I didn't care for was Neuhaus Chocolate. It just wasn't the type of chocolate I like. We were only given one small sample and it wasn't one of the chocolates they are know for. Nichole was fantastic. Very knowledgeble and a people person. I would love to do another tour with her.

My mother and I took the Chocolate, Dessert and Wine tour of the UWS, and had such a great time. We really enjoyed ourselves and learned quite a bit. We are both foodies that are crazy about chocolate and desserts, and what we enjoyed most was going to places we had never heard of and would not have known about otherwise. We even went back to a couple of the places before leaving NYC just to take some extra goodies home with us. We took a couple of other food tours on our trip, and this tour and guide, Nicole, were the best. I would highly recommend it.

We had a nice time on this tour. Parts were great (Elani's cheesecake, and truffles from the chocolate shop), and others were just fine. I just wish the guide would have given more information/history about the food, neighborhood and the shops. If you want to sample some great food, this is a good choice.

What a pleasant experience! I've been to NY city several times but just recently found out about these tours. The tour opened up my eyes to sections of the city I didn't even know about and would not have visited. I've had other people who have visited the city numerous times comment they never heard of such a tour and are extremely anxious to book a tour the next time they are in the city. Our tour guide was excellent with a pleasant speaking voice and very knowledgeable about the businesses we visited. She had a wonderful rapport with the business owners, who in turn, treated us well. I recommend they keep the groups small so as not to outgrow the small areas we visited. It also keeps it on a personal level so you can chat with the guide. Hopefully even more tours will be offered -- they are fantastic.

My husband and I took this tour with our three boys, 14, 16, and 18. If was very entertaining and informative. We also got to add a lot of our own input to the tour. Our guide was very personable and funny. As a matter of fact my son wants to work for them this summer!!!!!!!!!!

Tasty treats in Nolita

This was our second tour with Laura and CityFoods. The food stops on the Nolita tour were diverse and delicious. The Vietnamese shop was our favorite. Sam's pork banh mi (sandwich) was simply fantastic and reminiscent of food we tasted in Asia. Really... all of the stops were tasty and unique. These tours are a great way to spend the afternoon. Again, two thumbs up!

Not only was this tour so much fun but we learned a lot about the Lower East Side as well as some of the food artisans there and how their business developed. The food tastings were superb and the interaction with some of the shop owners very rewarding. Our tour guide was wonderful; energetic, bright, personable. I am recommending going on this tour to all my friends plus my husband and I plan to sign up for a different culinary tour in the near future.

My husband and I enjoyed ourselves taking a stroll on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Although we're locals, we don't explore much so the tour provided us some much needed exposure. Our tour guide was lovely and we had were able to have all our questions answered. We are now hooked on the doghnuts from the Doughnut Plant. THEY ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Thanks Nicole.

I loved the walking tour from beginning to end. The places were great and all very welcoming and knowleadgable and our guide was wonderful (Nicole btw). Altho, it was a VERY cold day we moved from place to place quickly and they were all very near each other. It was both romantic, fun and a great learning experience for me and my boyfriend. I would highly recommend it!

we enjoyed the beginning of the tour - Eileen's, the middle eastern restaurant, the candy shop and the pizza place - but it ended at a spanish store and we were all standing around waiting for samples that we thought we were getting and then the tour guide was like okay this is the end of the tour. So it was weird and awkward. Just thought for the money spent - there would be more samples. One a brighter note, the tour guide was EXCELLENT

Good for a lazy day
Sat, Nov 15, 08   3:30 PM ebv1121 Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Our group of 6 enjoyed all the foods we ate! We could have done without all the history. I feel that our guide used history to make our tour last longer. In two of stops we were only offered free samples. I suggest this tour to people who are looking for something to do on a lazy day. Some people in our group have never been to NYC so we were trying to do a lot in a short period of time and a few times in the tour we felt like we were wasting valuable sight seeing time.

Jennifer was as knowledgeable about the neighborhood and its history as she was about the food. It was wonderful to have a guide with such a strong culinary background.
