The culinary tour was great! There's much more to,these restaurants then you can see from the main dining areas. Got a great look behind the scenes and history from our tour guide. Food was great at each stop. |

The tour as a whole was very good. In particular our guide, George, was fun and very knowledgable not just on the food aspect but on the history side as well, which is very important.
There was certainly one downside. One of our tour stops was a Tujaques restaurant. When the group entered, we were told by the staff at Tujaques that the restaurant was closed due to a private party. Apparently our guide was never informed, and honestly Tujaques response to George of "There are a millions bars here, go to another" was unprofessional, especially since this was an arranged and paid for tour. Personally, my reponse to them would be to drop them from the tour if that is the attitude they will take to paying customers. As a result, technically we paid for a full tour, and only got about 80% of it with the drop off of one of the stops. Thankfully the tour group as a whole took things well and we moved on, but im my opinion, we should be refunded at least partially, and that refund should come from Tujaques restaurant. At the very least, they owe the tour operator a huge apology. |

Assembled group met at Antoine's (Hermes Bar), led by the wonderful Renee. She was full of stories, history-with-a-twist, sense of fun. Easy walking (rain or shine), plenty of chances to sit, ask questions, enjoy. Obvious our guide was well respected and liked by restaurant and shop folks. Food samples as described elsewhere--just right, nicely done. Love that Shrimp Arnaud! And do opt for Antoine's Sazarac, showtime included! So glad we chose this delightful afternoon. Recommend wholeheartedly! |

Our tour guide, Renee, was engaging, funny and very creative in her descriptions of historical facts about New Orleans culinary history. I would highly recommend the tour. The food samples were delicious and good quantity. It is an excellent way to see the insides of many elegant old restaurants. |

My girlfriend and I traveled to New Orleans for the first time and signed up for the French Quarter culinary and history tour. We are SO glad we did! Our tour guide (Candy) was local to the area and was so much fun. She did a wonderful job detailing the history of the French Quarter and describing how culturally important/unique cajun and creole food is to the area. The tasting servings were fairly generous considering we tasted at 6 or 7 different places and left us feeling full and satisfied afterward. I wish we would have taken the tour earlier in our stay because we wanted to go back to several of the restaurants for entire meals. |

I joined Candy and 12 others for the culinary tour today, and it was such a fun afternoon. I came on my own but found Candy to be easy to talk to and loved getting to learn about her hometown's culinary history. The food was excellent; the history info shared was pertinent and interesting; and the atmosphere was super warm and inviting. A wonderful way to spend an afternoon in the Big Easy. You cannot go wrong with Candy as your guide. Cheers! |

Chef George's culinary tour was one of the highlights of our trip to NO.
I was concerned brining three males with me who had no interest in cooking. It turned out they loved his drole delivery and depth of knowledge. This is an historical tour too, the food is almost incidental. We felt we got behind the beautiful facade of the French quarter and into the historical drawing rooms of another era. So glad we took this tour but made so entertaining by George because I saw some other food tours with boring hosts! |

We enjoyed the tour and our guide was a wealth of knowledge. We were able to visit the behind scenes of some of the more famous restaurants within a short walking tour. At each location had an opportunity to sample the local specials. Made it well worth the small price we paid for three hours of fun. I would recommended it to anyone that enjoys food! |

I am an amateur, self taught, but not bad cook. Also a degree in history. The history was excellent, the description of the native culture, waves of immigrants, slavery etc. combined with the description of their contribution to the local cuisine was very good. Our guide was a character. He spoke on a fairly sophisticated level, so might not be to everyone's liking. But I appreciated his dry humour and acerbic wit, especially the comments about chain restaurants and mass produced food. His bias toward home style cooking, local and fresh ingedients and the pleasure of good food was obvious and welcome part of the experience. The history of the restaurants and people involved was neatly woven into the descriptions of Louisiana food, restaurant industry, and cooking methods. A memorable day. |
