Ellen, our tour guide, is a new Orleans native with a passion for the rich history of her native city--she made the tour a delight. We have been to NO several times, love the city (and the food), and still we learned some new things and discovered new places that are now on our "must see" list. |

Basically a very interesting tour. We found it a little long. I think it could be cut to about two hours instead of three. Also a little overpriced for what you get. Tour guide was excellent. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. |

Our tour guide was fabulous, who really knew his history. Randy's
love for the city was genuine and sharing it wasn't a job but a passion,
you could tell. Seeing Antoines(kitchen. wine cellar, dining rooms was very interesting. At Creole Delicacies we even had a mini cooking lesson from
the lovely owner! We really enjoyed the food tastings (muffalata's,red beans&
rice, rum cake...etc)and the warm New Orleans welcomes, everywhere we went. This was my husband's and mine first visit to New Orleans and going on the tour really gave us insights to the city, places to go, I'm so glad we did this at the beginning of our stay. I can't wait to bring my family back , we just scratched the surface, theres so much to do, posssible ghost tour with Randy.... |

Randy provided a thorough and entertaining tour of New Orleans cuisine. The three hours passed by before we knew it--and we never had a dull moment. The 'backstage' access that he was able to get was great-- kitchens, special dining rooms, tastings and demos. We were all amazed at how much information Randy knows about the history of the area as well as the cuisine. A really spectacular tour worth every penny! |

found this tour very informative ... would have liked to have the content in the restaurants a little more geared to the food ... more a history of New Orleans than I thought it would be. Food great. Would have liked to speak with more chefs about their food. |

the roux demo was the best part of the tour. Randy was very gregarious and entertaining but some of the stops need to be enhanced. would really question the value received for the cost. |

I am an Adult Learning Instructor and facilitator, so I can be a hard person to enroll and stay engaged, if the presenter is not on their game. I can't tell you enough how terrific our tour guide Randy was!
Randy was extremely knowledgeable and very engaging. He was able to answer our questions and managed the tour stops effortlessly. Touring Antoine's was a once in a lifetime experience and learning about its history. Where else can you get that experience?
Super time, I will recommend to all my friends and family while in New Orleans. |

This was a very fun tour. The history was interesting and colorful. The food was wonderful! We had three teenagers with us and they loved it. Randy is a fantastic tour guide and was very fun to listen to. He had a wealth of information and was great at answering questions and gave great insight to living in New Orleans now and in the past. We really enjoyed this day and would take this tour again. |

the tour guide has an abrasive manner -bossy is good and she's okay, just maybe had a bad day? she is also perhaps a little racist w/o meaning to be ie looking at the black people on tour when she refers to slavery and not really at any other time; talking about Africa as a country while distinguishing France from Germany.
meeting the business owners was great, getting to know their individual business and specialties was really interesting and i thoroughly enjoyed that -i am much more likely to specifically patron their businesses as a result of this tour |

My husband & I have been making an annual visit to New Orleans for more than a decade but it was only two years ago that I learned about the Culinary History Tour of New Orleans, thanks to a guide at the historic Hermann--Grimma House. This trip, I signed us up--after locating a telephone number which wasn't that easy to find. It was well worth the extra effort. This three-hour tour through the kitchens & dining rooms of French Quarter restaurants, including some of the city's most notable, was indeed a treat. Our guide, a former waitress at one of the restaurants, was very well versed and rehearsed in local food lore and history, thanks to the university history professor who researched and organized the tour. Some of the stops were marginal and "touristy", in my opinion, but even at those places there was new information to learn and a good demonstration to watch. And then, of course, there were samples to try at nearly every point of interest. The food's not all four-star, but it was only a sampling and, for the most part, fairly tasty. Whether it's your first visit to New Orleans, or your fortieth, this tour is well worth the time and price. One New Orleanean told me that even she had once taken it and learned a lot. What better recommendation than that? |

We had been to the Culinary School the previous day, so we had observed and learned the differences between Creole and Cajun. After awhile, with so many tours it is hard to remember who said what. However, Randy, our tour guide,
provided some local color to the afternoon. We received a second demonstration of making roux, so certainly could duplicate it now.
Getting to tour Antoines and learn of its history was a highlight. Although unfortunately, we didn't receive any tasting there.
Visiting a local market revealed that the locals really do eat creole.
The sample mufulata was excellent and I'll be buying that olive salad! |

New Orleans has great history and great food. This was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon! Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining, and even though this was our fourth trip to New Orleans, we learned a lot. I'd recommend this tour to anyone, as long as you're comfortable walking and standing! |
