Fascinating exposure to New Orleans culture & food

Good tour, although slightly overpriced in relation to the lack of any significant food tastings. I was under the impression from the promotion that we really would experience more tastings. In two of the restaurants, Antoine's and Brennans, there were no treats. Tour price should range from $25 - $35.

The tour was interesting and provided information about both historical and new eating establishments. The guide was knowledgeable, but a bit soft spoken and hard to follow. The cooking demonstration was great!

My boyfriend and I enjoyed this tour very much. George, our host was great, full of insightful infomation. The weather was perfect for this tour so we really enjoyed walking all over the French Quarter. I will be telling all of our friends about it! Great times!

The tour was very interesting and informative because the guide was very knowledgeable, friendly, and fun. It was a good combination of well-known up-scale restaurants and smaller, lesser known places, which gave me an idea of the rich culinary tradition of New Orleans. The food samples provided a taste of local specialties as well as some new and different things. I would recommend this tour highly.

Didn't know full extent of what to expect on tour beforehand but was very pleased. Not only were the sampled foods delicious, but the history and knowledge that the tour guide imparted was informative and entertaining without being teachy. We went to places that we never would have gone on our own and were grateful for the experience! So recommend this tour to all! Easy walk for geriatrics and it was one of the high points in NOLA for our 30 something kids.

Our group didn't really enjoy this tour. I thought we would be tasting at each location. We went 1 1/2 hours going into resturants (that seemed put out that we were there) with out tasting or drinking. The end of the tour was much better and more what I expected. Shorten up the tour and it make it about food.

Enjoyed it thoroughly! Of course, it helped that the weather was mild and no rain. I have one serious note: Luckily, on my day of the tour, there was a big group. One person in the group told the group that she originally signed up for the tour a week ago. It turned out that it was rainy and she was the only one that showed up. Well, it states on the Internet site that the tour goes on regardless of weather and she was never contacted if the tour was cancelled due to the rain or low membership. She waited and waited and no tour guide showed up. I just wanted to bring this point up so that you people don't show up and never notified that the tour was cancelled at the last moment!! Believe me, I would have been totally pissed if I were in this woman's shoes. She was fortunate enough to re-book the tour because she was spending several weeks visiting a friend in New Orleans. The tour guide who claimed he was a chef was not credible. He gave us little to no culinary information that was interesting. He admitted he was hung over from the night before. His girlfriend called on his cell phone twice during the tour. The only enthusiasm he showed was when we went to the bar to buy a drink- (he expected us to buy him one) and when he finished the tour ( he hung around for the tip). No one on the tour tipped him which is of course unusual and indicative of his pathetic job. I think his name was "chef George". It was obvious that none of the employees in the establishments we visited liked him. He left all of us in the bar together at the last stop because it was raining. All of us talked and gave him a poor review. The food samples were just ok. Go on the cocktail walking tour instead. It was wonderful.

History & food are great but the tour is too long

All of the restaurants we learned about were very interesting and our guide was knowledgeable about the local cuisine's history. The food we got to taste was delicious and some of the discounts visitors get for being on the tour were unique. The group we had was apparently larger than normal so we couldn't always go into the restaurants we were learning about which was unfortunate as it was very hot and humid. Our guide was not very enthusiastic or entertaining but he was knowledgeable. Overall my partner and I would recommend the tour because it is very unique, especially for beginners into culinary history, but it does not need to be a three hour tour.

I enjoyed the walk through town with the chance to view private areas in each restaurant not known about and not many have access to. I enjoyed the food samples and suggestion on where to find what I was looking for. There are so many options to eat and purchase things to take home and try later to impress friends but it is hard to know where the really authentic good food is. They all make the same claim. This will help to narrow down the search if you have limited time to visit as I did with only and weekend to squeeze everything in. The only thing I would have love would be in the tour included beverage samples as well. I learned of the book with history of the place various cocktails were invented and meant to make time to go and try a few but just ran out of time arriving Friday and leaving Sunday. I would have been willing to pay more if the tour would have included this.

Fun Food Tour

My husband and I tried this tour after I had been on a similar tour of the North End of Boston. The tour in New Orleans provided plenty of delicious samples of the dishes the region is known for. The history was informative, but not riveting. In comparison, more food was provided on the NOLA tour, but more history of the region/ architecture was provided on the Boston tour. We would recommend this tour to others. Go on a nearly empty stomach as there are many things to sample. It was fun to compare what we had seen and done with others in the group. We got some good recommendations for dinner.

We enjoyed this tour very much. The restaurants we visited and the historical information our tour guide provided were excellent. The tasting enhanced the tour experience over the regular tour. We also returned on our own to two of the restaurants/stores to enjoy a meal and shopping. Great job!
