Food Fun and Facts

This was really an exceptional tour. Combining great food from several French Quarter establishments, that give you a real taste of many classic New Orleans style creole and cajun dishes (and explains the difference) and history of New Orleans and how the history and cuisine tie together. It includes a walking tour through the quarter and our knowledgable guide shared other recommendations for the best places to try many local speciality foods and cocktails. Wonderful information and a great variety of food to taste. I recommend brunch, followed by a late dinner or a 2pm tour. You get a decent portion of good and I certainly wasn't hungry by 6pm, so plan to eat a little later after the tour.

You must go on this tour.

Leah was our tour guide and I cannot recommend her highly enough. We have been to New Orleans several times and have had other tours, and this one was the absolute best we have ever had. The food for us, which included all women, was very filling, and by the last stop, we were so stuffed that we did not need anything else for the entire day. I would say if you are a hungry man, don't consider this enough food to fill you up, but it will give you a great idea of what you will want to go back and eat later. Thanks for the GREAT tour!!

Leah our tour guide was great. It was a great opportunity to try some of the finest restaurants and experiences in New Orleans at a fraction of cost. She enticed us to want to make a second trip to New Orleans to take cooking classes and hopefully learn how to make on our own one of the wonderful dishes we tried on the tour.

Overall a good experience but....

Needed larger servings as there was a lot of time between restaurants. Also people were wondering away from the group to get drinks and we had to wait and wait and wait for them to return, very, very annoying!

I was a bit hesitant when I booked the tour because I wasn't sure if the males in my group, especially my husband, would appreicate learning about the history of the food. Everyone in our group loved it! The tour guide, Candy, was awesome. She was very patient, knowledgeable and kind. We learned so much from this tour and tasted some wonderful food. Who knew that there was a difference between Creole and Cajun food! I totally recommend this tour.

Best tour in NOLA!

We went expecting just to go to different restaurants and sample food from each, but we got so much more! We learned a LOT about the history of New Orleans and got to see the side that tourists never get to see. There are hidden ballrooms, museums, and elegant establishments in the French Quarter that would blow you away. We even got to see (and touch) and original Picasso! The tour is of places that are authentic New Orleans and with tastes that cannot be beat! Chef is a wonderful tour guide! I definitely will take the tour again and have recommended it to my family and friends.

Tour guide was very interesting and funny. The three hour tour was well coordinated and planned. The tour took us through places that are not available to the public, that was a plus. Only disappointment is that the food tasting was not what I read in previous reviews. Make sure you have a full lunch before going to the culinary tour you will only be served very small samples of the different cajun food.

Chef George was awesome! We tasted some amazing food and learned a lot about the city and the history of the city and the food. It was great to see parts of the city and restaurants we would have never been able to see otherwise. I have already recommended the tour several times since I have come home!

Good tour but stops need confirmation

The tour as a whole was very good. In particular our guide, George, was fun and very knowledgable not just on the food aspect but on the history side as well, which is very important. There was certainly one downside. One of our tour stops was a Tujaques restaurant. When the group entered, we were told by the staff at Tujaques that the restaurant was closed due to a private party. Apparently our guide was never informed, and honestly Tujaques response to George of "There are a millions bars here, go to another" was unprofessional, especially since this was an arranged and paid for tour. Personally, my reponse to them would be to drop them from the tour if that is the attitude they will take to paying customers. As a result, technically we paid for a full tour, and only got about 80% of it with the drop off of one of the stops. Thankfully the tour group as a whole took things well and we moved on, but im my opinion, we should be refunded at least partially, and that refund should come from Tujaques restaurant. At the very least, they owe the tour operator a huge apology.

I joined Candy and 12 others for the culinary tour today, and it was such a fun afternoon. I came on my own but found Candy to be easy to talk to and loved getting to learn about her hometown's culinary history. The food was excellent; the history info shared was pertinent and interesting; and the atmosphere was super warm and inviting. A wonderful way to spend an afternoon in the Big Easy. You cannot go wrong with Candy as your guide. Cheers!

3 hr. culinary walking tour

We took a 3 hour walking tour & visited about 7 of the oldest restaurants.in the French Quarter. The food was small, very tasty portions.. a few of which I've never had before (turtle soup, Louisiana dip, & avocado gelato). The background of the city, different foods, & cooking techniques were interesting & very informative, but my favorite part was the history of the restaurants. You get a behind-the-scenes tour & a pretty detailed history. I recommend this tour.. lots of fun, & samplings of some really good food!
