We enjoyed the tasting and the information provided on the tour. It was a mix of both a tasting tour and a history tour. Worth every penny.
We would recommend it to others! |

We took the tour on the day we arrived in NOLA. Chef George, our tour guide, provided lots of tips and insight on history, food and culture of the French Quarter. It helped us determine where we wanted to eat during the rest of the trip. The lesson on how to make a roux was a very nice addition. Be sure to wear comfy shoes and clothing. |

We found it interesting about the historical value of the restaurants and the food. Wished the samples were a little larger and more of the chefs would have come out to greet us. |

We had a wonderful tour guide(Renee) who really knew alot about the history of restaurants and bars in and around the French Quarter and the differences of Creole and Cajun food. We were extremely glad that we took this tour and would recommend it for everyone. |

Not realizing several of the restaurants on the tour would be closed for Father's Day, we were a bit disappointed with missing Antoine's gumbo. However, the food (when we finally tasted it) was awesome, as always. We were a bit disappointed with our guide...he really didn't take into account that we had 8 teenagers...who were hot and more into the actual history of the area as opposed to "how to make roux".
Would I do another tour? Absolutely...although may choose a different time (NOT a holiday!). One REALLY good aspect of this particular tour was the stop (shop along Jackson Square) that included red beans and rice...the "cook" who served the dish was informative, interesting, plus included a bit of her own ethnic background as she was stirring and serving...REALLY effective for my particular "students". |

LOTS of history...food was great although I was with a group of teenagers and THEY felt that the food was great...but wanted more of it! (Typical teenaged response...)
My only criticism...eat a small something BEFORE you start the tour...as the portions are small and the walk was generating a LOT of appetite! |

The walking food tour went above and beyond our expectations. Our tour guide was most informative about the city and the restaurants. The food was fabulous. I would reccommend taking the tour at the beginning of your trip so you can plan your meals around the sites you visit. |

Our party consisted of two adults over 60; two adults at 37; two children 6 & 10 and a handicapped woman 40 years young. All the stops on the tour were wonderful! All the food was superb and even my two children tried everything and didn't turn their nose up at it. It is however ALOT of walking. My parents were happy that I found the tour but boy were they tuckered out afterwards. The food while excellent was not a big portion. I had read another review from someone else and she said she was full afterwards. I did not find this to be true. I would go on another tour like this if I knew it was a different set of restaurants since I already did this one. The tour guide is very enthusiastic and sometimes can be hard to hear since there is a working restaurant behind him. It was a highlight of our visit to the French Quarter. |

Culinary Tour French Quarter "OK"

Our tour was what we would call "OK". We knew 7 other people on the tour and all felt the same on many points. Our ages were 45-53.
1. It was a bit long
2. We felt the eating part of the tour was a bit misrepresented. Because the tour is 3 hours long, the eating should be spaced out. The first hour and a half there was no eating. Many people had not eaten lunch as we all felt we would be eating on the tour.
One place we had a sample was kind of in a courtyard not at the restaurant being represented--tray was brought to where we were standing and small cups were handed out. At this point we had been standing /walking for at least 1 hr. and 15 min.and we were ready to sit down. It also was wierd that we didn't go to the restaurant the food was from. We never saw the restauant! All eating was in the last part of the tour, it should be spaced out
3. Tour guide was just "OK". We had been to the Louisiana Cooking school event the day before and felt that was much better--more educational, food was awesome. Very entertaining. Worth every penny, Ann was wonderful. at the cooking school. We would not recommend this culinary tour for the money. |
