| When the owner discovered that the restaurants were not going to opened Christmas Eve, she should have cancelled the tour and refunded the money. The tour lasted an hour; it was supposed to be a 3-hour tour. We ended up at Tujague's where we were supposed to be served seafood gumbo, shrimp remoulade, brisket of beef, and bread pudding. We received gumbo and brisket. Yes, we did get the Sazerac. We stood at the bar and they slid the food and drink to us. As a local, I was embarrassed. The owner refunded half the price. | It was an unusual group because there were only two participatnts that day. That enabled us to ask lots of questions of the guide. Our guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. My friend did find it somewhat tiring, but there were chairs available everywhere we went. The food samples we received were definitely New Orleans in flavour, and were substantial. Good value. | ||||||

| Great to learn about the history of New Orleans and get an introduction to Cajun/Creole food. However, there were a few places we were supposed to stop and sample some food but they were closed so we didn't get to sample any gumbo. Overall a good experience a little too pricey for what you get. | ||||||

| We did not expect that most of the tour would be conducted out on the street with people having to go around us. We could not even enter K Paul's Rest. I would have liked to have tasted the food there and especially at Antoine's (where we had nothing). The restaurant Petunia's (where we were supposed to get Gumbo) was closed. The pastry that we got at one of the restaurants was not a New Orleans dish and we received pastry and a praline BEFORE we got any real food (red beans, small muffaletta & a small piece of brisket). The bartender at Tujaque's barely acknowledged us and there were some drunk customers in there. Enough negative comments. The young man who conducted the tour seemed very knowledgable and was very polite and fun. The man at the New Orleans School of cooking was extremely nice and fun. He seemed to enjoy having us and had a nice assortment of N.O. products and was willing to answer any food related questions. I think this tour could be very nice with a few adjustments. | ||||||

| We had an excellent time with one exception. The first stop we made, at the Petunia Restaurant, was disappointing, We had to stand outside in the street because they didn't have room for us yet, when one of our party looked inside, he saw it was mostly empty. It took quite a while for us to get our sample, a seafood gumbo, which was mediocre. The shrimp was overcooked and lukewarm. That was a poor start but the rest of the trip made up for it. Other than that the tour was very interesting and worth it. Our guide, Chase, was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining and made the tour special. He told us a lot of interesting facts and stories about each stop and was able to answer all of our questions. He never rushed us but did keep the tour moving so no one felt bored. We were able to sit down, albeit briefly, at most of the other stops. The seafood jambalaya was excellent. The mini-muffelettas and pralines were also very good. The tour through Antoine's was fascinating, especially getting to see all the back dining rooms for the Mardi Gras Krewes. And the information about the history of New Orleans and how that created the food we now know was very interesting. We did not, however, stop at the Hermann-Grima House and tour the kitchens as described in the tour although we did walk by the outside. This may be because we toured on Saturday. I would definitely recommend the tour to my friends but I would suggest you reconsider the stop at Petunia's. | ||||||

| Small tours are the best way to learn the culture and history. This tour provided all of this and more because we had delicious samples along the way. Our hostess was knowledgeable and fun to be with. Don't eat lunch just before the tour. Your sampling will be enough. | ||||||

| I expected that we would be given a tour of a half dozen restaurants, and be served a sample at each. Though glad I invested my time and money on the tour, I did not expect that well over 2 1/4 hours of the almost 3 hour tour would be spent on my feet. The tour guide was both entertaining and informative. The food offerings were a little bit disappointing; too much emphasis on sweets. The tour is geared towards those wanting to learn about food history, not those wanting to enjoy food while on the tour (most food is served while you are standing up). | ||||||

| Joe our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. He had a great sense of humor and irony about some of the history of New Orleans that made the tour fun to be a part of. He also took into consideration the fact that I was having a lot of trouble walking (I did not know this was a walking tour) and he was able to let us be able to sit between restaurants. It was my fault for assuming that we would be driven around. It was in fact a very great tour and I'm glad that I was able to complete it and would recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in history &/or food. | ||||||

| Enjoyed the French Quarter from a culinary historical and "in the moment" view. Sweet and savory tastings left me satisfied but also left me room enough to end the afternoon in the Cafe Du Monde sipping, chewing and smiling. My only critical comment would have to be about Petunia's which was where we got the taste of Gumbo (*good). The place was recommended for a breakfast treat by the guide, but I say DON'T GO TO PETUNIA'S!. My group went there the next day for breakfast and we were disappointed. It was loud, they made overly greasy food, the room smelled sour (which may have come from the dirty string mop they were using on the floor while we were eating), and the service, where friendly, was slowwwww. YUK! My recommendation to this vendor would be to find another place for Gumbo and stop making recommendations for Petunia's. | ||||||

| With Kelly Hamilton as your guide, a local collegiate history professor, this is the most historically accurate New Orleans tour you'll get. As locals ourselves, who embrace our culinary history & cook the dishes at home for our family, we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. From meeting the executive chef at Antoines (35 years experience who started out sweeping floors) to warm muffalettas at Napoleon house to Angelo Brocato's canolis, Kelly covered the gamut of French, German & Italian influence on our local dishes. My husband & I were born & raised here. Hurricane Katrina flooded our home, but we returned. We'll rebuild no matter how many times we flood (and build higher too) because New Orleans gets beneath your skin and beckons you home. Inside the Big Easy is a dreamy quaint town with the most flavorful, exciting dishes you'll ever taste. | ||||||

| I lived in New Orleans for 8 years and visit yearly. With that being said, I learned a lot of very useful information on the tour. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and very enthusiastic. The food was great and you get to visit a lot of the local restaurants and see the behind the scenes operation. The history of New Orleans is a direct correlation of the native cuisine, so this was 3 hours well spent! | ||||||

| We had a great time on the tour. Rene was very knowledgable and personable. I would highly recommend this tour - preferably as soon as you get to NOLA so you can use the tour as a resource for enjoying the excellent dining. Rene entertained us with information about local architecture, history, as well as great New Orleans cuisine. We originally booked this tour for Labor Day weekend, 2005 but thanks to Katrina the tour was canceled. We are so glad to have finally rescheduled the tour. This is a tour visitors as well as locals would enjoy! We did! Thanks! | ||||||

| Although we had been to New Orleans numerous times over the years, we really enjoyed this tour. We found wonderful local eateries that were very economical, which we probably would have overlooked in the past. We figured the samples wouldn't carry us through to our evening meal. However, although they were small by some standards, they were ample enough that our whole party (of big eaters) were satisfied and went without dinner afterward. The information provided by Kelly the owner and our tour guide was plentiful! We couldn't believe how much information she provided both from general history and personal history as she grew up in the area. Wonderful. It's a must see tour! | ||||||
