Culinary Tour hits a home run!

My granddaughter and I had a wonderful time on the Culinary History Tour of NOLA. We enjoyed the information, the style in which it was delivered and the delicious tasty food treats along the way. We both learned interesting facts about food and restaurants in NOLA and also visited the several culinary establishments on the tour in a quite unusual way. Altogether an outstanding tour.

Food and history were supurb

Food and history were supurb, but the heat was a killer. Great tour guide, Sally Gilmore. She was very knowledgable and did her best to keep us out of the heat. Turtle soup was great. Wish you'd been doing the oyster trip as well. Thanks.. Mike Braton

The tour was very good and I recommended it to the Concierge at The Roosevelt. The stops were right on and the tastings were excellent. Lots of history and culture was a nice complement. The guide, George, was very knowledgeable and informative. George seemed a little nervous when we started and spoke a little too quickly as a result. Keep George and ask him to slow down and he'll be great.

We thoroughly enjoyed the culinary tour, and the food was delicous. AN added bonus was being able to go into the food preparations areas, really delightful.

Everyone in our group really enjoyed the tour very much. It is really different and even though we are locals, we still learned a lot. The tour guide was very informative and the tastings were great. I would recommend it. It's a very creative tour.

Culture for one's appetitie

This is our third food tour with Zerve and all have been excellent. Our guide in New Orleans obviously loved her city and the cultural influences that have impacted the foods that this city offers. She was a wealth of information, fun, interactive and an asset to your program. We were shown a variety of establishments and given numerous food tastes. Some of which I was a bit leery of trying but found everything was wonderful from the Turtle soup to my new found first love - the Muffalatta.

Two bits of advice: take this tour, and do it early in your New Orleans visit. It will give you some real good ideas on where, and what, to eat. The samples -- must have been five or six -- were great, and by themselves would have been worth the tour price. Add to it the history along the way, and it's one heck of a deal.

we would recommend this tour to anyone coming to New Orleans- there were things that we didn't know that were talked about, and the sample of foods were great

I've visited the French Quarter many times and taken several of the tours. This was the most enjoyable tour I've ever taken. The unique touch of getting to taste some of the local specialties was the highlight for me. Our guide, George was especially entertaining since he was a Chef and extremely knowledgeable. My son is an aspiring Chef so the instructional session on how to make a roux was especially good for him.

Interesting but not totally what was expected

We found the tour to be interesting from a historical background. I would like a little more involvement with the food. By this I mean recipes and possibly speaking to some of the chefs involved. The history of the restaurants did set an atmosphere but the food we tasted was not neccesarily the best that New Orleans has to offer;for instance the shrimp remoulade. I had better remoulade at a stand.

New Orleans Tasting Tour
Thu, Mar 18, 10   2:00 PM Hinkydinky Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Other
Don't go on this tour hungry and expect to be full. The samples were very small and few and far between. The people we spoke with in each restaurant or candy shop were very nice. I loved being in the Kitchen at Antoine's. All the food we tasted was delicious. My favorite part was seeing the back rooms at Antoine's. I don't understand why Brennan's wasn't included. All-in-all I was a little disappointed. I am not sure I would repeat or recommend the tour. It would have been nice to have just a tad bit more time at each place in case we wanted to make a purchase. I would have loved to buy some Jazzmen rice or pralines at Laura's but the group had to move on. We went back to Laura's two times after the tour and it was closed, so I had to leave town without extra pralines. My main recommendation would be a couple more food stops, and maybe a happier tour guide.
