The culinary tour was better than expected. The tour guide was informative and had just the right amount of exuberance. The start at Antoine's was special. Our "Dinner Club" recommends this experience to locals as well as all tourists. |

We not expecting to be the only two people on the tour. If only two people had signed up, I would have appreciated a cancellation and refund. Renee was a fine host but the true enjoy is with a larger group. Plus, I don't sample food from a public dip bowl. No fun. |

Everything was ok, but not worth what we paid. We visited several locations, but some had me scratching my head as to why (given the rich culinary history of New Orleans). A muffuletta in a gelato shop? A praline store? We were hoping for more culinary history than we received. When we visited Antoine's, the floors were being waxed, emitting a smell so foul that it closed my lungs and gave another visitor a massive headache...oh well, that's not the Tour's fault. Like I said, it was OK...but just not worth the price. |

I was disappointed with the tour.
Antoine's: Met in bar - juke box playing had a very difficult time hearing guide over music. Food served with plastic bowls and spoons. Food was good.
Bremen's: tour of facility but no food - why?
Gelato's: was served Gelato of pear and cheese - tasted terrible. Mufalata was good but not thoroughly heated.
Pralines - no discussion on how pralines are made, etc. given same size sample that would have been given to any person off of the street. Main goal of the store appeared to sell pralines vs educate the tour.
Two Jack: again no special provisions for the tour group - had to fit in amongst the other patrons. Treated like we were an inconvince. Brisket served with cocktail sauce - is that how the really serve it in New Orleans? Food again served on plastic plates and forks.
Cajun delicacies (sp?): Good demo on sauce. Presenter had multiple items sold in store and referred to them regularly - felt like the intent of the presentation was to sell items in store.
Pirates Alley: again had to find our own place among the patrons. Had to pull together our own table and chairs. Tying together sugar cane plantations and rum by serving a slice of rum cake was a reach.
Tour Guide did not appear to control the situation at the various locations: music at Antoine's, pear & cheese gelato, etc.
I would not recommend the tour to others. |

Good restaurant history provided. Guide was not an enthusastic or engaging person even though he claimed to have been a chef. Samples of food were disappointing but did help us to decide where not to spend our money. One restaurant did not provide a sample. |

Our tour was a smaller group with only four of us including myself. Our guide, George, used to work in restaurants in New Orleans and was very knowledgeable of New Orleans history, both culinary and non-culinary. We toured several restaurants, bars and candy stores. We sampled different foods at each location and it was all very good. We even got a cooking lesson at one stop. The tour was advertised as three hours, but since our group was so small we finished in two. Highly recommended. |

The tour is about 5 stops with alot of history talks in between on the way to places. The guide we had was amazing and a great chef himself. We visited Antoine's, Brennan's, Leah's Candy, a Cooking Store (learned to make a rous (sp?)), and the second oldest restaurant in the city. Oh yea and La Divinia and Pirates Alley.
We sampled beef brisket, gumbo, shrimp salad, muffelatto, rum cake, and of course red beans and rice.
Everything was delicious and hearing the great history of the old restaurants of the city made for a GREAT day.
Great for couples. |

The tour taught us about history of the area and the history of food in LA. Our guide was great and the people we met on the way were eager to teach. First class and that is something for foodes from Portland, OR. |

Tour guide was great and was very knowledgeable on her subject. The places toured were awesome and had great food. There was more than enough to eat. Just recommend that you bring drink with you as they don't have it along the way. |

We took this tour the first day we were in NO and it provided an excellent intro to the main reason we took this vacation - fantastic food and wonderful historical backgrounds that made the French Quarter the wonderful place it is. Got some great samples at a number of first quality restaurants and got into some parts of these restaurants that we wouldn't have been able to otherwise. We did get lucky in that my wife and I were the only people on the tour! Great way to get to kow the Quarter! |

Like all of the tours in various cities I've booked through Zerve, this one was again one of the top highlights of our vacation. Earlier in the day, we had taken a carriage ride/tour and it was horrendous. No history whatsoever. Our guide merely read restaurant/shop signs as he passed by them. Therefore, experiencing the French Quarter Culinary History and Tasting Tour was like night and day. Our guide was fantastic. She was very friendly, informative, and gave a COMPLETE history of the locations we visited and the food we sampled. (My only suggestion would be that she needs to project her voice a little bit more.) We visited some FANTASTIC restaurants and shops and everything we tried tasted divine, not to mention that we received big portions of each. The food was plentiful enough to be our lunch...and dessert! I also loved the variety of foods that were offered. We tried a little bit of New Orleans with every bite. Hands down, I would recommend this tour over any other attraction or tour in New Orleans. It's a must! |

and wrote a review here previously stating that fact because we suffered some flooding and had to cancel our trip....you may read it in an earlier review. But we did end up hearing from the tour owner, and they made good on our previous reservation. We LOVED the tour. George our guide was a wealth of information about the food, restaurants and history of New Orleans. The samples that we got to taste were all excellent. The tour was paced in such a way as to not be too much or too slow. Hope that you are fortunate enough to see the demonstration that we did on Roux making. The wonderful woman that was conducting the demo (i regret I dont recall her name) put on a great show with excellent commentary. My wife and I feel that we got a great view of the French Quarter. We will probably do this again when we go back to NO. |
