Orleans Great Food History
Mon, Jul 7, 08   2:00 PM stejay Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
The Culinary Food History tour of New Orleans was very informative and interesting. Not only did we learn about the main foods related to the city, but we also learned about some famous restaurants, people, and events. The tastings were exquisite and the various restaurant workers were always happy to see us. The tour guide was very learned and pleasant. This tour truly enriched our experience during our visit.

A Highlight of Our Trip to New Orleans

Great fun to go behind the scenes. The samples were all good; we returned to several places for a meal or drink later in our trip. Our guide, Ellen, skillfully wove history and food into a wonderful narrative about New Orleans.

I would highly recommend this tour for adults. our guide, Ellen, was terrific. She gave us many historical facts about New Orleans as well as each individual restaurant. She was friendly, helpful, witty and seemed to be relaxed and enjoying herself. Our group really enjoyed interacting with her. Everywhere we went, people were very friendly and inviting. I would be eager to take this tour again.

Tasteful History

Excellently done tour. The food was great and very tradition New Orleans. The tour was informative not only about the food and it's history but the history of the French quarter as well. It was also nice to take a walking tour where you weren't constantly on your feet and out in the hot sun. The walking tour as well as the stops for the tastings were relaxed and unrushed.

This tour was way more than I expected. The guide was well informed and told us about all aspects of the area we walked around. The biggest surprise was the tasty samples we were given at each of the stops.

Even My Husband Liked This Tour

Even my husband who really isn't interested in food or history liked this tour. He found the guide interesting and the food good. When saw that there was more to the French Quarter than Bourbone Street. I enjoyed the tour because I could ask questions during the times we were eating. I would have liked it more if the tour guide had a better background in cooking. We both liked that we didn't feel like the tour was advertisements for each of the establishments we went to and the pace of the tour was easy enough that everyone stayed together. We were able to talk to everyone in the tour and even went with another couple to look at another site of interest to both of us.

I am a local and loved the tour. It was informative, the guide was knowledgeable, the food was delicious. I only wish we could have tasted a few more items at antoines and brennans, that would have completed a great tour. Thanks

I gave this to my parents as an anniversary gift. They practically live in the area. My mom said it was one of the best tours she has been on and said the food was great!! My dad even knew the guide from a class they had taken together several years before.

Nice overview of New Orleans culinary history

This tour of the French Quarter was perfect for a foodie. It gave a good overview of the rich culinary history of New Orleans and it's creole and cajun cooking. The tour took us to some of the classic high end resteraunts as well as some of the venerated low end hangouts. The walking tour was interspersed with stops for food and drink samplings that helped enhance the topic of the tour. The tour guide was knowledgeable about local culture and culinary tradition.

Loved the Culinary Tour

We thoroughly enjoyed the Culinary Tour! We were looking for something different on a return visit to New Orleans. We had done most of the things tourists do when visiting the city so we were ready for something unusual. The tour was great...the tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable and the food was delicious!!! We would definitely recommend this to anyone! D. from Dallas

Favorite Tour in New Orleans!
Mon, Jun 9, 08   2:00 PM bdehl73 Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Our tour guide, Randy, was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable! He grew up in New Orleans and clearly loves the culture and cuisine. It was a very laid back group and everyone seemed to get a lot out of it. I attended several tours on this trip (Garden District, Ghost Tour, Gallier House, etc.) and this was our favorite. Don't miss it! (Get Randy, if you can.)

Tour ruined by tourguide keeping us in the heat
Mon, Jun 2, 08   2:00 PM Asw1977 Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
This was my 2nd culinary tour and my first was far superior to this one. This one could have been wonderful if not for the rediculous amount of time the tour guide kept us in the heat babbling about history. As he would frequently wipe his sweaty brow with a hankerchief (how appealing!), the rest of us suffered and wondered why in the world would we would be kept standing outside so long in front of Antoine's when the restaurant had ample seating for us in numerous rooms. Eating hot gumbo OUTSIDE was just silly! The gumbo was wonderful but to be subjected to a hot courtyard with no appropriate seating to eat gumbo was just silly; my daughter ended up with stains on her shorts from sitting on the ledge which provided the only seating. The restaurants were great, the food was great, but the tour itself fell far short of what it could have been.
