Good, but you get the same information elsewhere.

This was enjoyable, but we had to stand on the street to eat at one location. Also, we got the same history information from a demo cooking class at the New Orleans Cooking School, which I would highly recommend.

My husband and I took this tour to better understand the culture of the food and thought it would be a great way to sample different types of foods without having to order it in a restaurant and find out neither of us liked it. The tour guide was very knowledgable about the history of the restaurants we visited; explaining how the foods came into being, the difference between cajun and creole and the parts of the city we toured. The length of the tour was just about right. It's a beautiful walk ; the sidewalks are rock and brick, uneven in spots and slick when wet so it is a must to wear good walking shoes. To us the highlight of the tour was when we met Susan in a back courtyard and she showed us how to make rue and served us red beans and rice. I would not recommend this tour for children or young teens; my thought is that they would get bored quickly (and you don't get a lot of food so it would be a tease to a teenage boy. Thank you for a wonderful time and keep up the great work!

Culinary questions answered!

We had a great time on the tour. It was full of information. After three visits to New Orleans I finally got my culinary questions answered. Randy was our guide. He was funny, informative and passionate about his town! My only concern was that the tour is to long. Two hour that would be better. There were 17 in our group on Saturday and by hour 2 in more than half had left the tour. We also dined at one of the restaurants from the tour that night and Randy was right...it was great! We will be trying the others on our return trip to New Orleans next year! Thanks Louise

Good history of N.O. and its culinary history. Not as good organization by guide of tour .... too much sfanding/waiting..... too many commecials for stops... All enjoyed tour but expressed same complaint about Randy. Four were planning a Segway tour next day till they realized Randy was guide.

The best tour in NOLA. Guide was knowledgeable and amusing. Based on other reviews we ate lunch before the tour, which was a big mistake. The food selection was fabulous

my husband and I took this tour together, on a wednesday, we ended up being the only two people, which was great! our tour guide was soooo informative. we met several local business owners and learned soooo much about new orleans culture. forget the horse tour or haunted tours, this one is well worth the money!!!

Just OK

Tour guide knew some history, but the samples were few. It was very frustrating that we got kicked out of the first restaurant. The second restaurant gave us a swizzle stick - then we stopped at several restaurants and stood out front. A simple tour and taste of food and I might have gone back to eat the the restaurants. I don't think the tour company should promote restaurants that don't let them in and can't give a small sample. Savor Seattle is the best food tour I've ever been on - they used headsets that made it easy to tour.

We had a great tour. Our tour guide was very informative - who would have known there was so much cullinary history in one city? I would definately recommend to all of my foodie friends.

Great way to see inside restaurants

This was a great way to spend a few hours. Our group was small and so was able to have an experience that a larger group could not. Have been to New Orleans many times but have not gone to the older restaurants, so got to see rooms we would not ordinarily see. It was worth the cost, even my husband enjoyed it.

Our tour was a full group of 16, on a rainy day, had we a wonderful time walking, talking and eating our way throught the Quarter to discover the stories and food of this great city. We learned about (and ate) all the food groups: Gumbo, muffalata, pralines, brisket, rice and beans and cake. Our tour leader was fun and well informed and took us into the back doors of some great places to eat, and we toured placed we could never see on our own. The kitchen at Antoines was impressive, as were the many dining rooms we got to see. Renee knows her way around the quarter and got us in and around some wonderful places. Don't miss this tour.

I loved the tour guide Randy--he was lots of fun and very knowledgable--however, we were anticipating more actual tasting--by 4:00 in the afternoon all we had eaten was a part of a praline and a tiny dixie cup of gumbo. I came with my appetite so was dissappointed that the tour didn't offer much in the way of actual food. Finally we got a tiny muffaleta (disappointing), a piece of rum cake that I never would ordinarily have eaten, (but I was ravenous), and a small bit of roast beef (delicious). So I would recommend the tour, but have lunch first!

This is for tourists, not foodies

A group of four of us took this tour on Sept. 13, 2008. It lasted about three hours and visited about half a dozen sites. The tour guide was informative, but an inordinate amount of the narrative consisted of general New Orleans history rather than focusing on food. In fact, food was only marginally related to this tour, IMO. We received sample cuisine at exactly three locations, and one of those was a praline shop! Not great value for money considering what they charge for this tour, and I thought it was drastically overpriced -- $20 would be more realistic than $45. We won't take it again or recommend it to friends.
