Where's the food....not on this tour.

The primary reason we booked this tour was to get a taste of the food offered at those places everybody hears about. Antoine's, Brennan's, Arnaud's, and Tujac's, just to name a few, were on the tour. Some other places you have never heard of get lumped in too. Guess who serves the food. Not Brennen's or Antoine's, but some of the lesser known establishments. If you can believe it, we were served a CHICKEN QUESADILLA WEDGE at one place. I do not consider that a "Taste of New Orleans". Other offerings were a Muffalatta Sandwich (about the size of a 50 cent coin) and a serving of roast beef with a spicy sauce on the side. Those three items were the entire menu of the TASTING PORTION of the tour. The historical portion of the tour could not have been better. Our guy was a native of New Orleans and knew his stuff. Everyone on the tour was fascinated with a behind the scenes look at these famous eateries and the stories that go with them. If we were doing everything over, we would book the walking tour only (it is an offered option) and spend the money we save on the Lucky Dog vendor on the corner. You know what to expect from the Lucky Dog guy......a great hot dog. You have no idea what to expect on this tour when the food is served. So, my advise is to skip the food part and take the walk part. Adieu.

We really enjoyed our culinary tour with your company. As much as I'd like to remember, I can't remember the name of our guide, but he was a man in his 50's, I think... and was a wonderful tour guide. He had such a knowledge of the restaurants that we visited and a great knowledge of the French quarter's history. We absolutely loved the tour and would do it again if we were to visit the area. We strongly recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in the food history of the area!

Saw behind the scenes - kitchens, private dining rooms, photos of famous guests , Mardi Gras memorabilia. Great tastings, lots of history - culinary and otherwise. Highly recommended. We will do it again next visit.

A Must Do

The Culinary Walking Tour is well worth the money and time. We took it on our first day in New Orleans and it helped us understand the food, gave us a little history and gave us ideas of where we wanted to eat for the rest of our vacation. The samples were a nice touch but not the highlight. On our way home from New Orleans, I asked my husband and 21 yr old daughter what the best thing was on this trip and they both said the food. Then they said it was because of the tour and the recommended restaurants from it. My advice is do this tour on your first day.

Highlight of Our Visit to New Orleans!

We were an intimate groups of three: myself, my husband and my sister who is only 17 years old. We were in the city for a couple of days before leaving on a cruise and decided that we really wanted to experience the cuisine that the New Orleans area is famous for. But, being typical tourist with no idea of where to go to eat we decided this tour was a good way to be introduced to some of the best places and best food choices around. We were not disappointed. The tour was incredibly fun and was happening right in the middle of the French Quarter while Mardi Gras and all the fun and parades that come with it were in full swing. For some, this may have diminished their overall enjoyment of the tour but for us it only added to it--it really put a spotlight on the soul of the city and the spirits of the people who live there (and are responsible for all of this amazing food!) This really allowed for a casual atmosphere that opened the door for asking lots of questions, having a few laughs and even a few drinks along the way. Every stop highlighted dishes that represent local food culture and every opportunity to taste yielded yet another tasty morsel to savour. I just don't know if I can truly convey how much we enjoyed this tour. The food was awesome, the guide (and her husband who tagged along with us) were incredibly helpful and full of information about the food culture of New Orleans, the French Quarter and the city itself. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting New Orleans for the first time and for any foodie who wants to experience the local flavour first hand. This tour really is the highlight of my trip to New Orleans. Two Thumbs Up!

Your guides were very knowledgeable about the history of the restaurants, food, owners and surrounding structures. They were friendly, open and approachable. While in N'Orleans I meet a couple from Scotland and recommended they do the tour as well. I plan to return to NO in the future and plan to repeat the tour again. The tastings were wonderful, I especially enjoyed your local drink (Sasarq) don't know if I'm spelling it right. It was yummy! The pralines were also very tasty and sweet. My experience was delightful and wonderful. Have recommended to all that visits your lovely city. Good luck, Edna Vera

Great tour and guides that give you a lot of history and information about the places you visit. There is not tasting at every stop, but the tastings they do have are good, seems like about 6 places we tasted. We had lunch before and were glad we did.

I thoroughly enjoyed the History & Culinary tour. Our guide was very informative and interesting. It was a comfortable walk and we got to see inside some of the wonderful old restaurants of NOLA. And, of course, sample some tasty food , too. I would recommend it and would do it again with my husband or friends.

We had a great time at this tour. Our tour guide was a wealth of knowledge and we learned lots of new facts about the history and cuisine of the French Quarter. Great food too- don't eat before the tour or you won't be able to fit it all in, and you don't want to miss it!!!
