Fun way to learn about the history of New Orleans.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. His review of the history of New Orleans, both political and social, was easy to follow and really let the group understand how this history has influenced the culinary traditions of the region. The sample servings of the food was sufficient for the cost of the tour. The majority of stops that include food are placed near the end of the tour so don't arrive too hungry. I recommend bringing a bottle of water with you, especially if the tour takes place during the warmer months. The only beverage that is offered for free is the sample of the cocktail Sazerac at the end of the tour. There is the opportunity to purchase beverages at a few stops along the way, however. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting New Orleans. It is a fun and unique way to learn the history of the city.

Excellent. Knowledgeable Tour Guide.

It was a great tour that highlighted not only some history of New Orleans, but of course included the culinary history that we were hoping to get. On the tour, I learned a lot about both and feel I was able to know more about the city then during my other visits. It was also good to be able to try the different foods that New Orleans is famous for and better understand how these items got their start in the city. Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed the tour and would recommended it to others who come to NOLA for a visit.

My daughter and I took this culinary trip and both thought iit waqs marvelous. The docent was well prepared and told us much more information then we expected. All the stops were both interesting and delicious. She gave us some culinary history and answered all questions. The tour was one of the highlights of our trip and we would highly reccommend it. Sincerely, Beverlee Levie and Karen Mandel.

Extrememly enthusiastic tour provider

Even though I was the only person booked on the tour, I was enthusiastically met and taken through many back areas including Galatoire's and Brennan's. The tour provider seemed to know everyone in the business and not only provided samples and history but made recommendations for my stay in New Orleans - as many of which I took her up on as I could. She was very knowledgable and personable and I would highly recommend this tour - preferably as soon as you get to NO so that you can use the tour as a resource for enjoying the excellent food available in the city. I cannot fault this tour - the best I took while in NO. Wonderful.

Our tour guide really knew his history and was very easy to talk and ask questions to. I can't remember his name, but he was a student, and did a good job explaining why things are the way they are in N.O. The food was great. I definitely recommend this tour.

Culinary history tour is an inadequate description. The guide entertained us with information about local architecture, history, politics and especially food! I can’t wait to get back to NOLA to try some of the restaurants we explored on the tour.

Kelly did a great job of showing our group highlights of New Orleans Culinary History. We were recieved with open arms at each business we visited. Not only was this a culinary tour, but also a historical and architechtural tour ! As a result of this tour, my husband and I dined and enjoyed meals at three restaurants we would not have otherwise visited. I would definately suggest the tour to others--take it early in your stay so you can go back to your favourites!

Second time better than the First!

My first restaurant tour was March 2007 and enjoyed it a lot, but I didn't think the restaurants were quite ready after Katrina. I am so glad I gave it another try. There were three couples in our group and everyone had a delightful time. Who knows, the third time may be in my future! Thanks Kelly, hope to see you again. Judy Adams

Good tour but needs better coordination.

I thought Kelly gave us a very good tour. However, it did seem to lack some coordination. We arrived at places that did not seem to expect us - so we did not get to see much behind the scenes or get a presentation from the owners/chefs of these places. It would have been helpful if she used her cell phone to call ahead so that these restaurants could be prepared or if they were busy she could adjust the tour accordingly. In some places we got a taste of whatever food was on hand rather than their specialty. Overall, the food was very good at all the places we stopped. For newcomers to New Orleans we would diffinitely recommend this tour for getting a taste of the French Quarter. She also may need to change the times of the tour since many of the better restaurants were closed during the day.
