Great tour for new and returning visitors
Sat, Jul 23, 05   10:00 AM crricha Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Our group consisted of myself and a friend with our teenage (18 year old) children (1 male / 1 female), and we all had a great time. I was surprised at how much the kids enjoyed the tour. It was a great introduction to the French Quarter and its cuisine for the them, and was in depth enough for the Moms who had visited New Orleans numerous times. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. I plan to take the tour again the next time I visit the city with my husband.

Extremely Bad Tour!

Please do not waste $45 a person on this tasting tour. You have to stand outside in the elements while being told about the history of the resturants. It was 95 degrees and extremely humid the day we went. We had the opportunity to go inside some but briefly and we only got 3 very small tastes. The tastes were so small it was rediculous! The length of the tour was almost 3 hours as advertised. What she doesn't tell you is that regardless of the weather you will be outside and the word taste means less than a normal sample size. I felt like the red headed step child begging at the back door.

A great French Quarter experience!

We truly enjoyed our tour with Kelly. She was pleasant and knowledgeable about the history, cuisine and restaurants of the French Quarter. We got to see and learn more about the area than we would have otherwise, and the samples were great! I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in cooking, culinary history, or just tasting new foods.

Interesting and easy

A friend of mine and I took this tour while our husbands were otherwise occupied. It was fantastic. Kelly was informative and relaxed and our group was small, which was nice. It was very cool to see all the different rooms of a restaurant, which doesn't usually happen when you go to eat there. Also, she elaborated on the culinary history of N.O., and described the differences between cajun and creole. All in all, a very fun way to spend a morning!

Great fun and great food

This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the local restaurants and see them up close so you can make dining choices for yourself, while learning about the different restaurants histroy. The very knowledgable guide shares a lot of history and general information about the city and especially the French Quarter. The food samples are excellent and it was difficult to decide where to go back to for a meal. The pace is leisurly enough to not wear you out in the extreme summer heat and yet fast paced enough to not be lagging. A most enjoyable day.

We thoroughly enjoyed the culinary tour. It was a terrific way to see the Quarter, explore some of the city's most beautiful dining rooms and sample terrific food. We will be recommending this tour to all of our friends.

A good experience for any foodie. Although two of the restaurants were closed, the tour guide took us to several other places.

Please thank the staff at Antoine's again for me. They went out of their way to insure that I could taste the remalaud by placing it on a deviled egg instead of the shrimp!

I thought the tour guide was excellent. She new her history and her food. Kelly was enthusiastic about what she was teaching and really seemed to enjoy it. I think the restaurants chosen were perfect. It is not too often that we get to go to these places at all so it was nice to see what they look like. The whole tour was very interesting. I'm not sure though if the price was right. It seems high, but well worth it. These tours are great for business. I now know more place to take friends to.

Fun, History and Great Food. We loved it.

Highly recommended. Great combination of city, architectural and culinary histories including details on the families that made these restaurants famous. The three hours seemed to pass quickly. The breaks for the food tastings were well spaced and the Bananas Foster at Brennan's were memorable.

It was my first morning in New Orleans, and the culinary history tour was my first experience of the French Quarter. I loved it! Not only did I learn a great deal about the history of the Quarter and of New Orleans culinary tradition, we sampled some of the best treats in the world. I would do it again in a minute.

I went with my grown daughter, sister-in-law and her grown daughter. Three of us are native New Orleanians. We really enjoyed the tour. We thought all of the food samples were delicious! We would even consider going again with other family members.
