Tour ruined by tourguide keeping us in the heat

| This was my 2nd culinary tour and my first was far superior to this one. This one could have been wonderful if not for the rediculous amount of time the tour guide kept us in the heat babbling about history. As he would frequently wipe his sweaty brow with a hankerchief (how appealing!), the rest of us suffered and wondered why in the world would we would be kept standing outside so long in front of Antoine's when the restaurant had ample seating for us in numerous rooms. Eating hot gumbo OUTSIDE was just silly! The gumbo was wonderful but to be subjected to a hot courtyard with no appropriate seating to eat gumbo was just silly; my daughter ended up with stains on her shorts from sitting on the ledge which provided the only seating. The restaurants were great, the food was great, but the tour itself fell far short of what it could have been. | ||||||

| I decided to take this tour because the reviews were very good. I was not disappointed! It was an excellent tour with an excellent tour guide. We learned about the history of the restaurants we visited and the history of the city of New Orleans, sampled local foods and learned the difference between Cajun and Creole. The tour guide was cheerful and knowledgeable and answered any questions people had. Although we moved along at a good pace we were able to sit and relax while we sampled the food and since some of the tour was indoors, we did not overheat in the sun. I really enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend it. | ||||||

| loved the tour, will look for more culinary tours at other cities we travel. would like to do same tour again, with another guide (just for different take on things). Also, a beverage tour might be fun in NO,LA. Guide was VERY informative and knew his stuff. | ||||||

| We were lucky in that my friends and I made up the tour group for that particular day. The guide Renee was excellent and everyone appreciated her historic knowledge as much as her engaging delivery of the information. The tour covered a number of restaurants as well as history of the cuisine, the restaurateurs, and the bayou. In particular I enjoyed visiting the kitchen of the famous Antoine's restaurant. The tour was very enjoyable and I would highly recommend it over or in addition to plantation tours and swamp tours for its unique character. | ||||||

| Our tour guide, Randall, was the key to our enjoyment of this tour. He was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about not only the food but the city itself. I have been to New Orleans many times and I have done many, many tours, but this was one of the best experiences I have ever had. This was my Boyfriends first trip to New Orleans and because of this tour he was exposed not only to the history but also the "New Orleans flavors". We learned new things and truly enjoyed being introduced to new cuisine. We would definitely recommend this tour and Tour Guide! | ||||||

Culinary Tour - Not to be Missed!

| This tour was fascinating, delectable and most enjoyable! To a large extent this was due to our excellent tour guide, Randy Bibb, who was not only very personable but also extremely knowledgeable about the history of New Orleans and how the area's cuisine came to be. The food and beverage tastings provided by a few historic French Quarter restaurants along the route were all delicious. The highlight was undoubtedly touring renowned Antoinne's as it a treasure trove of New Orleans culinary and - surprisingly - Mardi Gras history! This tour should not be missed and is a great way to learn the history of New Orleans and to explore parts of the French Quarter. | ||||||

| i loved this tour because i was able to visit many famous restaurants. i gained knowledge about the history of the places and the each specific restaurants famous foods. several of the places we visited my husband and i never took the time to go and eat at them. this provided the opportunity to do just that! we even liked the drinks that were incorporated into the tour. the pimm's drink was delightful-the sazerac a bit of a man's drink for me-but my husband drank his and enjoyed his. i've already thanked my son for giving us these tickets as 2007 xmas gifts. many people here in town have asked me about this trip and i said it was well worth it. i look forward to doing this trip again! and maybe a cemetary tour also. our tour guide was randy bibb and he should be given a raise because he was so attentive to our needs and made the tour so interesting with his knowledge of the city. roseann+ claudio guillermo | ||||||

| Our tour guide, Randy, had very good knowledge of New Orleans and gave lots of information on each stop. We started off by viewing most of the interesting rooms in Antoine's including the kitchen. The Rex room was nice. We were also able to peek inside the wine cellar, which was huge. Our next stop was Petunia's and we sampled the seafood gumbo. Supposely there is a place across the street from Petunia that is open only during the week which we didn't get to see. We stopped at Leah's and sampled some pralines and got to take one for later. We walked in Brennan's and talked about the history of it. We walked to K-Pauls and gave some information on that. Next came Napolean's house and a sample of the muffuletta which was toasted. Make sure to get a Pimm's cup, a mix drink, which is not part of the tour. We went the Coffee pot and sampled the creole gumbo and had a Cala Cake, a rice fritter. The final stop was Tujague's and you get a Sazerac and small sample of boiled beef brisket. Overall very interesting and food was good. | ||||||

| Ellen, the tour guide, was awesome. She knew the restaurants, had great working relationships with the restaurant personnel we visited, and she knew the history of the area. She was able to keep main focus on food, history of the restaurants in the area, but also added general history background and answered competently any questions from the group. She really MADE this tour great. The subject itself was interesting enough. I have never been on a tour like this, and found it totally appropriate to appreciate the New Orleans area. I actually got off the plane and drove right downtown and this was the first thing I did in New Orleans, and it provided a GREAT starting place to learn about the area. (The food was good too!) I have already recommended this tour and the New Orleans.com website to several of my friends and co-workers and I will recommend this to anyone who is planning a trip to New Orleans. It is $45 well spent. Again, Ellen was an excellent guide for this tour! | ||||||
