Excellent tour which I feel lucky to have taken. I believe that the guide on any tour can make or break it. Our guide Randy was wonderful, knowledgeable, humourous and excellent at his job. Would take it again.

Randy was a great tour guide . Very knowledgeable about not only the culinary history but the history of New Orleans as well. Very enthusiastic. I would recommend this tour to anyone, even if they are not interested in food or cooking. Lot of good samples along the way.

We were very fortunate to have Chef George as our guide recently. George has worked in several well-known restaurants in N.O. as well as having an in depth knowledge of the local cuisine and the city history involved with it. We visited a varied sample of "eateries" in the French Quarter and were able to sample some very tasty dishes and desserts. I especially enjoyed the cooking demonstration given in an old courtyard by a local who clearly enjoys sharing stories and recipes. The tour was one of the best I've ever taken!

This tour is an interesting way to learn more about the established restaurants in the French Quarter in New Orleans. You have a chance to enter some restaurants to look around and a chance to sample food at others. It was enjoyable experience and our guide was very knowledgeable. As always, when talking to a group of people outside, particularly in the middle of the French Quarter festival, it's sometimes difficult to hear. As much information should be shared inside buildings, as possible.

Very much met and exceeded our expectations.

We have been on culinary tours in other parts of the country and would stand this tour up against any of the other tours that we have taken. The tour guide was very well informed about the historical components of the Quarter and conveyed her knowledge in a very informative but casual manner. The tour started out slow for us and we had thought we had made a mistake but as it progressed it became apparent that we had made the right choice. The sampling was much larger and extensive that we had thought we would experience and the food was absolutely fabuluous. If you have an afternoon to enjoy something like this than you should do it.

My husband and I enjoyed the culinary tour very much. Our favorite part was visiting Antoine's and speaking with Executive Chef Mike. There is nothing better then getting to ask questions one on one with a chef and finding out what his thoughts are and how he runs his fabulous kitchen! We would have liked to visit some other well known city restaurants to have a sample of their menu but the small venues were very nice too. Our guide was very informative and I would recommend this for those without young children.

Worthwhile way to see and taste the city

The tour was basically a historical and cultural overview of the French Quarter with snacks. It wasn't a a significant foodie experience but it was a pleasant way to see the area and the food was tasty. There was a small cooking demo of some local cuisine which was clearly the tour's highlight. I would have preferred less time touring restaurants and more time talking about food. There was no time to shop at the little praline store or the local food shop, which I think would have been nice to try and fit in.

Excellent Tour and Host!

Being a native of Louisiana, but not a frequent visitor New Orleans, this was a great tour. My fiancee (who's never been to La. before) and I learned so much about the city, it's very unique culinary and extended history, and the French Quarters specifically. Besides the very tasty food and welcoming demeanor of the restuarant owners and staff, the best aspect of this tour was our guide Randy. He was absolutely the best! Without a doubt I would recommend this tour to anyone, even those who may be native to the city; moreover, I would highly encourage them to see if they too can be guided by Randy!

My wife and I would not have missed this for the world. Without this tour we would not have been able to see inside some of the kitchens (especially Antoine's) and get a greater understanding of both Creole and Cajun cooking. The background was fascinating and Randy was an excelent tour guide. The walking is not demanding but the streets of New Orleans are uneven and that comes with the territory. We would recommend this tour as a must.

Great Tour

My sister and I enjoyed the tour very much. I live locally in the area, but she has lived away from New Orleans for 50 years. We especially enjoyed hearing about the restaurant's history, but wished we had some history on Petunia's and a tasting at Antoine's. Randy was a terrific guide, very knowledgeable and entertaining. On the whole, it was a great tour.

I was in NOLA for work and had one free afternoon; so I thought I'd try this tour. I was so happy I did so! Our tour guide, Renee, was great. Knowledgable, fun, kept us on the right pace. I learned a great deal more about the French Quarter than I otherwise would have. This may not be as commerically interesting as the cemetary tours or bar tours, but if you are a foodie (as I am), this is a good fit. I'd recommend this to individuals who like to learn about local history and food history and who enjoy tasting a few samples. We had 6 people to our group, which also made for a great size. Not too big at all.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. She had a great sense of humor and was very pleasant. We learned a great deal about how the Spanish, English, French, Indians, etc. influenced the food and the differences between Cajun and Creole. There was a LOT of walking involved and the tasting portions were small at some places. Be sure to wear comfy shoes and bring water. It was definitely worth the cost for our group!

Ellen, our tour guide, is a new Orleans native with a passion for the rich history of her native city--she made the tour a delight. We have been to NO several times, love the city (and the food), and still we learned some new things and discovered new places that are now on our "must see" list.

Interesting but long

Basically a very interesting tour. We found it a little long. I think it could be cut to about two hours instead of three. Also a little overpriced for what you get. Tour guide was excellent. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
