Even though the skies opened and we couldn't see across the street, our tour guide was quick to adapt to the conditions and revised where she would be talking. I loved visiting all the restaurants and tasting all the different items. It certainly allowed us to go back to many of the places for a bigger bite of the French Quarter! I was pleasantly surprised by the staff's attitude of complete co-operation with such a large crowd and the efficiency in getting our treats. I loved the cooking demonstration and checking out of the spices. It was well diversified, both in style of restaurant and type of traditional foods!
I have already heartily recommended it to all who would listen! |

This was a great way to introduce two New Orleans newbies to the food and culture of the city in a very short period, while experiencing the trademark foods. Our guide, Candy was knowledgeable and kept a good pace. It was worthwhile and very good value. |

Sally was a very knowledgable and enthusiastic guide. The selection of restaurants visited and food sampled was great. The visit to the culinary antique shop really topped it off. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend others do it on the first or second day of their trip so they know the best places to eat. |

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend to everyone. I loved the idea of our tour guide being a chef and was very impressed with his knowledge. But my favorite and unexpected part of the tour was seeing all the behind the scenes and secret rooms.
I can't wait for my next trip so I can try out the restaurants we visited on tour. |

Guide was extremely well informed. We saw the famous rooms and heard the history of the more well known restaurants of New Orleans.
Would have like more food.
Tour ran a bit long. |

Food what there was, gave a good cross section of New Orleans cooking. Not sure about the history part of the tour, seemed like we were trying to cram for a final exam. The stop at Brennans was just to see their court yard, no tasting, too bad |

Very worthwhile tour, and a fantastic introduction to a city very much characterised by its food and culinary history. Our tour guide (Sally) was very informative, and provided good mix of local history, culture, some cooking hints & tips, and most importantly a good deal of tasting (the eating / walking ratio was weighted on the eating side, which is good given the summer heat!). We had gumbo, beans & rice, praline, muffaletta, brisket, turtle soup and more, and all were delicious and the tour was a good length. We did it on our first day and it helped us get our bearings, and also armed us with some great recommendations cafe / restaurant-wise that we utilised afterwards. All in all it was great value for money given the quality and amount of tastings provided, and well worth paying the extra over & above your bog standard walking / bus tour. |

Lots of variety and good historical infomation. The guide did not have our info about my husband and I being vegetarians but quickly contacted the restaurants and at only one spot we did not have a sample. |

Our tour guide Candy was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The food was very small portions and we didn't eat before our 2pm tour, but after 3 stops we were filling up! By the end we were quite satisfied and got to try foods that we wouldn't normally order off a menu. Not recommended for vegetarians.
Great way to see the city with lots of historical facts! |

Great intro to New Orleans Restaurants

It was a great intro to New Orleans restaurants and what they had to offer, the samples were the size I expected, except for a regular sized bowl of turtle soup- don't be squeemish- it's delicious!! Tastes like a bolognese sauce or non-spicy chilli. The tour guide also gave us extra tips on how to to go to the expensive restaurants on the cheap- like the breakfast at Brennan's and that if you show up when it's not busy, they won't be mad if you only order the banana's foster (they invented this dessert). There were more tips, can't remember them all, but that's why I wished I did this tour the first day. We also sampled shrimp remoulade from Arnaud's, muffaletta and gelato at La Divina, turtle soup from Desire Oyster Bar, Beef Brisket and horse radish from Tujague's, seafood gumbo from Antoine's, Mardi Gras dip (I think it's just mayo+sour cream+Joe's stuff seasoning from the new orleans school of cooking or maybe just a cajun seasoning- really good, though), beans and rice from a store by St Louis cathedral, and praline's from Leah's. We also got a short lecture on New Orleans history and information about some of the century old restaurants in New Orleans as well as a tour of some of the private dining rooms and kitchen at Brennan's. |
