Outstanding Food Samples

Guide did not provide enough nexus between historical and culinary facts--fortunately, other guests on the tour were able to fill in. Tasting portion was exceptional.

Not what I expected!

We did not expect that most of the tour would be conducted out on the street with people having to go around us. We could not even enter K Paul's Rest. I would have liked to have tasted the food there and especially at Antoine's (where we had nothing). The restaurant Petunia's (where we were supposed to get Gumbo) was closed. The pastry that we got at one of the restaurants was not a New Orleans dish and we received pastry and a praline BEFORE we got any real food (red beans, small muffaletta & a small piece of brisket). The bartender at Tujaque's barely acknowledged us and there were some drunk customers in there. Enough negative comments. The young man who conducted the tour seemed very knowledgable and was very polite and fun. The man at the New Orleans School of cooking was extremely nice and fun. He seemed to enjoy having us and had a nice assortment of N.O. products and was willing to answer any food related questions. I think this tour could be very nice with a few adjustments.

Quite formative, the guide was great. I had expected more tastings based on the advertising of the event, but would recommend it to others.

We would definately do it again. The food samples were delicious, the guide was knowledgable, and as always, the Quarter is fabulous.

Our tout guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour great fun. Not only did we get to see all the things but she paced the walking in the heat so everyone could keep up. Please don't change a thing.

Second best part of our trip
French Quarter Culinary History Tour

The best part of New Orleans is eating at the restaraunts, of course. This was a fantastic tour! We visited many of the famous restaraunts and learned quite a bit about New Orleans history in general. This is a great way to scout out some of the best places to eat without dropping $100+ to find out that the menu is not exactly what you wanted. We ended up having several tasting samples, even though it was not part of the original plan. Tour did run a bit longer than advertised. Ours was about 3 hrs, but we considered that a bonus.

Interesting history and culture information as well as some great food insights. Nice to see behind the scenes at a couple of restaurants. Take the tour early in the trip ... that way it provides some ideas for your future meals.

I really enjoyed the tour, which provided as much of a sampling of history of the area as it did the local cuisine. Kelly was a great quide and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys trying new foods and learning origins of a cuisine.

Excellent Tour

This tour was definately worth the money. I do not suggest doing a late night on the town prior to it, however, as it is quite a walk and you will need your energy not to be wiped out in the end. The pace is slow and comfortable however. The only suggestion I would have is for the tour guides to always try to stand at the front of the group and speak towards everyone at once. When in the middle, it makes the guide have to turn away from some in order to face others. That makes it hard to hear what they are saying when they are not facing you. Overall, it was great and something I would suggest to anyone who likes history and/or food.

We had samples of the best and most famous treats that New Orleans is famous for. Our tour guide was a fund of knowledge about the area. The culinary tour is a must do in any visit to New Orleans.

Excellent service in tough time

Due to weather (Blizzard in March) we were unable to get to New Orleans. Inspite of the fact that the tour is advertised as nonrefundable. The owner called us back, completely understood our situation, gave us a refund and treated us very well. If we ever do get to New Orleans we will do this tour. Service and being treated as being important was a treat!

The guide was very informative and pleasant. The tour was a good sampling of New Orleans specialties and information on local history. Enjoyed it very much - only could have used a larger "(Alchoholic) drink" at the end.

There were approximately 14 - 16 on our tour. The tour was very interesting and time seemed to fly by. I would take the tour again and would love to go to some of the restaurants for more than a sample. The tour was a great way to learn the history of New Orleans.

Kelly is fabulous! She has super information and stories. Great opportunity to visit locations you might otherwise pass by. Walking in 101 degree heat index wasn't too bad. Numerous opportunities to get into the AC - bring water! Recommend for individuals or as an event activitiy! The samples make a delicious lunch. You won't need dinner.
