Behind the scenes; at the front of the tour list

This was my 2nd visit to New Orleans PK (post-Katrina). Every creative effort being made by the courageous and resilient people of the city should be supported to the max. That said; this tour would be worth doing at any time. Our guide gave us insights into the history of some of New Orleans' best known restauants and their specialities. The tasting opportunities were frequent (best not to eat before the tour.) The walking was not strenuous, and we were sorry when the tour was over. Don't expect the secret recipies of Antoine's or Brennans, but you will get glimpses of interiors you might not otherwise see without spending a lot. Take water to drink. Cheers to Kelly and her crew - we'll be back; and we'll do the tour again. TU Vancouver Canada

Extrememly enthusiastic tour provider

Even though I was the only person booked on the tour, I was enthusiastically met and taken through many back areas including Galatoire's and Brennan's. The tour provider seemed to know everyone in the business and not only provided samples and history but made recommendations for my stay in New Orleans - as many of which I took her up on as I could. She was very knowledgable and personable and I would highly recommend this tour - preferably as soon as you get to NO so that you can use the tour as a resource for enjoying the excellent food available in the city. I cannot fault this tour - the best I took while in NO. Wonderful.

Kelly did a great job of showing our group highlights of New Orleans Culinary History. We were recieved with open arms at each business we visited. Not only was this a culinary tour, but also a historical and architechtural tour ! As a result of this tour, my husband and I dined and enjoyed meals at three restaurants we would not have otherwise visited. I would definately suggest the tour to others--take it early in your stay so you can go back to your favourites!

We read about this tour before we started our trip and pre-booked it to ensure that we could do it on the first day of our trip to New Orleans. Our tour guide was excellent! He was very knowledgeable and was able to answer questions and provide great insight. All of the locales visited were great as was the food we sampled. A great introduction to a great culinary city!!!!

Humorous and tasty

I appreciated the light-hearted approach to history, as I find history as a subject very dry, but it was made entertaining as well as interesting. Not 100% factual, but 100% factual is boring. Perhaps a warning to future tour members that this tour will replace their next meal, so don't make dinner plans; you'll be full. I very much enjoyed myself. Thank you.

I loved the tasting tour. Very different from anything else available in the Quarter. Our guide Kelly was very knowledgeable about the history or food in New Orleans, and about the history of the city in general. I would highly recommend it. Just don't have lunch before hand. There's tonnes of food on the tour - we were stuffed at the end!

A Must Do

The Culinary Walking Tour is well worth the money and time. We took it on our first day in New Orleans and it helped us understand the food, gave us a little history and gave us ideas of where we wanted to eat for the rest of our vacation. The samples were a nice touch but not the highlight. On our way home from New Orleans, I asked my husband and 21 yr old daughter what the best thing was on this trip and they both said the food. Then they said it was because of the tour and the recommended restaurants from it. My advice is do this tour on your first day.

Highlight of Our Visit to New Orleans!

We were an intimate groups of three: myself, my husband and my sister who is only 17 years old. We were in the city for a couple of days before leaving on a cruise and decided that we really wanted to experience the cuisine that the New Orleans area is famous for. But, being typical tourist with no idea of where to go to eat we decided this tour was a good way to be introduced to some of the best places and best food choices around. We were not disappointed. The tour was incredibly fun and was happening right in the middle of the French Quarter while Mardi Gras and all the fun and parades that come with it were in full swing. For some, this may have diminished their overall enjoyment of the tour but for us it only added to it--it really put a spotlight on the soul of the city and the spirits of the people who live there (and are responsible for all of this amazing food!) This really allowed for a casual atmosphere that opened the door for asking lots of questions, having a few laughs and even a few drinks along the way. Every stop highlighted dishes that represent local food culture and every opportunity to taste yielded yet another tasty morsel to savour. I just don't know if I can truly convey how much we enjoyed this tour. The food was awesome, the guide (and her husband who tagged along with us) were incredibly helpful and full of information about the food culture of New Orleans, the French Quarter and the city itself. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting New Orleans for the first time and for any foodie who wants to experience the local flavour first hand. This tour really is the highlight of my trip to New Orleans. Two Thumbs Up!

GO FOR IT!!!!

This tour provides a great way to see the interiors of some prominent restaurants and local eateries in the French Market. For example, you see many of the interior rooms of the landmark restaurant - Antoine's. Free samples of food/drink also provided at some stops. The history of New Orleans cuisine is discussed as the tour progresses. As a food buff, this tour proved to be a highlight of my day. My tour guide was informative and expressed a real passion for her subject.

Michael, our tour guide, clearly loves his job and it shows. We got so much out of this tour in both delicious food and history. Food stops were outstanding and we really enjoyed touring Antoines and meeting the chef and seeing the Mardi Gras dress museum at Arnaud's. Cannot recommend this tour enough
