George is tremendously knowledgable with a wity sense of humor about it all. The information, history, samples, choice of restaurants, and uncommon access make this tour a "MUST DO"!!

Our guide had a great knowledge of the food and the restaurant history we visited. We visited many nice restaurants and enjoyed food samples that we would otherwise not have considered. Overall, it was our favorite tour on our trip to New Orleans.

Don't take this tour - waste of time and money.

We arrived at Antoine's to find a "closed for maintenance" sign so we gathered at the bar (which was open). We proceeded to tour a dark, closed establishment. It was an entire hour before we arrived at the next stop and sampled any food. Having been on food tours before, we purposefully did not eat because we anticipated an ample sampling as with other tours. The samples were extremely small and we did not feel like we got our money's worth considering 1/3 of the tour was spent wandering around at one restaurant that wasn't even open. If a restaurant is closed then you should either substitute another one or discount the price. We were really hoping this would be the highlight of our trip and were saddened to discover otherwise. A food tour in NOLA should have been fool proof. Our tour guide "Chef George" was pompous, longwinded and a fast talker. After an hour of hearing him blabber on and plug his other tour company and we started discussing cutting our losses and going to the Seafood Festival instead-- I wish we had. We wasted 3 hours of our weekend long trip taking this tour. Most of the food is served in condiment containers - free sample size. I've posted photos of the food on Yelp. You'll see we had brisket, gelato and a community bowl of chips and dip... just what you come to New Orleans for, right? PS Look at the reviews from November-December 2009 to get a better idea of what this tour is really like. It is true that the purpose of this tour is to get you to buy their products such as spices and cookbooks. I don't know how this tour gets mostly good ratings. It is the only food tour that I have experienced that I would not recommend to others.

My wife and I have lived in California for 48 years, and visit New Orleans every couple of years. She's a native of New Orleans, and I lived there for seven years. Despite this experience of the city, this tour was an eye-opener. Our guide "Sally" was a very friendly and enthusiastic fountain of knowledge about the history of the city and its culinary arts, and took us into unsuspected nooks and crannies of several famous restaurants where we tasted samples of some famous New Orleans dishes, such as shrimp remoulade, turtle soup, red beans & rice, gumbo, pralines, muffeletta and beef brisket. Admittedly, it did help that we were the only participants in the tour that day, but I believe Sally would have been equally good with a larger group. The tour wasn't inexpensive, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and thought it well worthwhile. Ken S.

We live near New Orleans and visit frequently and always take out of town guests there. Despite having eaten at a variety of New Orleans restaurants, this tour hit several that were new to us. Overall, it was a nice way to see the eateries and to sample bites from the menus. Was it worth the price? Yes...but it comes close to being overpriced.

This is a great way to enjoy some history and taste of New Orleans! My wife and I enjoyed this tour, even with the heat outside was very hot.
