A FUN WAY TO ENJOY HISTORIC FREN QUAR RESTAURANTS

I read about this tour in Spirit Magazine (Southwest Airlines) and it sounded like fun. It wasn't overpriced and we met the group (16 total are allowed) at the Hermes Bar in Antoines Restaurant. Wow, the history we learned at this restaurant and the gumbo was delicious. We visited Arnauds, Remoulade, Desire, La Davinia and many more. We had red beans and rice, shrimp remoulade, turtle soup, pralines, brisket with horseradish sauce and a wonderful twist to the Muffaletta at La Davinia. We were able to sit down at almost every restaurant so wasn't too over taxing and the walking was at a slow pace. Our guide, Mary, was a character. She was a much older woman but had alot of energy and information and she lived in the quarter. We would recommend this tour to everyone who visits the French Quarter.

Very informative. We loved the "behind the scenes" part. Always wanted to see the back rooms at Antoine's. Take this tour early on your visit so you can eat at some of the places. Been to N.O. several times and thought we knew it, but learned a lot from Mary. Mary was absolutely delightful. Next visit we will for sure take another tour - and we will want her to guide it!

The tour guide was a Chief, he was entertaining and very knowledgable. Not only did you taste great food but you provided with a history of the various restaurants, a history of New Orleans and it ended with a cooking lesson. I would highly recommend this tour.

This was a great way to introduce two New Orleans newbies to the food and culture of the city in a very short period, while experiencing the trademark foods. Our guide, Candy was knowledgeable and kept a good pace. It was worthwhile and very good value.

The food and history tour lead by Candy was one of the highlights of our trip. We were a bit skeptical from the length of the tour, but the time flew by and the food and conversation was wonderful. We brought along our little one year old boy and everyone was very accomodating to him, which we greatly appreciated. We would highly recommend this food tour to anyone visiting New Orleans! Not only do you get to try some wonderful dishes, but get a great view of the city and the history from a local prospective. A must do activity!

The tour guide was exceptional in her knowledge of the French Quarter and New Orleans Culinary history. Each stop on the tour had a lot of purpose and all the food tasted was phenomenal. We really enjoyed our tour guide and felt that the tour was the right amount of people and afforded us all a chance to experience each place and each food offered.

If you love cajun/creole food you must do this!

The tour hits several of the most famous restaurants and bars in French Quarter inlcuding Antoine's (with great backstage tour of this huge restaurant), Gaugins, Royal Sonesta and Tujaques.. Our guide, Rene, was wonderful, knowledgable and enthusiastic. There were 9 stops on our tour, 8 with food (I think), which included several of the well known cajun/creole offerings including remoulade, muffaletta, red beans & rice and other very cajun/creole dishes. Servings were rather generous, meaning more than just a taste, enough to where we didn't go to dinner until 8:30pm as my wife and I were quite full when the tour ended at 5pm. Well worth the $46 (plus tip) per person. A great way to experience the French Quarter and get the story on the characters that contributed to the uniqueness of New Orleans.
