Great History- Not Enough Food and Drink Tasting

Needs more food tasting opportunities. The history was great as well as the guide (Renee Dodge). For three hours of walking and $40 price for the tour I would expect to be more full by the end of the tour.

We took this tour our first full day in New Orleans. It gave us a flavor of various local specialties and the guide was very helpful with suggestions on where to try out them and other foods later during our time in the city. We also got a behind the scenes look at several restaurants, including Antoine's -- we made a reservation on the spot and had a fascinating visit and meal there the next day, and a long talk with the owner, none of which would have come about without our introduction to him on the tour. Kelly and he obviously knew and were comfortable with each other, and that made the behind the scenes visit all the more fun and informative.

Behind the scenes; at the front of the tour list

This was my 2nd visit to New Orleans PK (post-Katrina). Every creative effort being made by the courageous and resilient people of the city should be supported to the max. That said; this tour would be worth doing at any time. Our guide gave us insights into the history of some of New Orleans' best known restauants and their specialities. The tasting opportunities were frequent (best not to eat before the tour.) The walking was not strenuous, and we were sorry when the tour was over. Don't expect the secret recipies of Antoine's or Brennans, but you will get glimpses of interiors you might not otherwise see without spending a lot. Take water to drink. Cheers to Kelly and her crew - we'll be back; and we'll do the tour again. TU Vancouver Canada

Fun way to learn about the history of New Orleans.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. His review of the history of New Orleans, both political and social, was easy to follow and really let the group understand how this history has influenced the culinary traditions of the region. The sample servings of the food was sufficient for the cost of the tour. The majority of stops that include food are placed near the end of the tour so don't arrive too hungry. I recommend bringing a bottle of water with you, especially if the tour takes place during the warmer months. The only beverage that is offered for free is the sample of the cocktail Sazerac at the end of the tour. There is the opportunity to purchase beverages at a few stops along the way, however. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting New Orleans. It is a fun and unique way to learn the history of the city.

It was a great tour that highlighted not only some history of New Orleans, but of course included the culinary history that we were hoping to get. On the tour, I learned a lot about both and feel I was able to know more about the city then during my other visits. It was also good to be able to try the different foods that New Orleans is famous for and better understand how these items got their start in the city. Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed the tour and would recommended it to others who come to NOLA for a visit.
