My husband and I live about an hour from New Orleans and spent the weekend in the city playing tourist. We did the culinary tour, and it was wonderful!! We spent 3 hours with our group and guide, walking around in the French Quarter touring and sampling food at some of the oldest and most famous restaurants in New Orleans. Antoine's gumbo and Tujaques's brisket were fabulous. There was more food than we expected there to be. We saw kitchens, private dining areas, and even had 1 cooking demonstration. I was tentative at first because there were 18 people in our group, but the tour flowed smoothly and was really fun. There were plenty of drink and bathroom breaks, and we quickly got passed the surprise of bringing the same beverage in and out of other restaurants. This was by far my favorite tour, and was the highlight of our trip. Our guide was really informative and pleasant. May I suggest the Pimm's mixed drink at Antoine's... yum.

Insights into New Orleans

We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon we spent on the food tour in New Orleans. We were wanting to try the local cuisine and since we were only spending 2 days in New Orleans, this gave us the opportunity to view the finest restaurants, taste the local specialties and enjoy a bit of the history all mixed together. Our tour guide,Renee, did a wonderful job of making everyone feel confortable and was very enthusiastic in her presentation. We certainly didn't walk away hungry...nor did we eat supper that evening. Thanks. Great tour!

Food what there was, gave a good cross section of New Orleans cooking. Not sure about the history part of the tour, seemed like we were trying to cram for a final exam. The stop at Brennans was just to see their court yard, no tasting, too bad

Even in the middle of a tropical storm, this tour was a highlight of our long weekend trip to New Orleans. The guide was very knowledgeable and enjoyable, and the information was very interesting. The food samples definitely highlighed some of the best cuisine of New Orleans and helped establish where we ate the rest of our trip. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting New Orleans either for the first time, or a repeating trip.
