Wonderful way to spend the afternoon!

My husband and I have visited New Orleans 10 or more times, but this was first time for this tour. Not only did we learn a lot of local history about the cuisine, but also about the restaurants and their owners. Food samples were delicious and our guide was knowledgeable and personable (Sally). We returned to the shops that gave us discount coupons and made purchases (the pralines were to die for...!) Due to extraneous environmental noises (traffic, etc) it was sometimes difficult to hear everything Sally had to say; we had to ask her to repeat occassionally, but otherwise, this was a GREAT experience.

I really enjoyed the culinary tour. Would even take it again. There was so much history information that I would like to hear it again to be able to remember more. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We had so many wonderful food samples that I didn't even need to eat dinner!

George was a great guide. He was very informative. Lots of great food. You will not need to eat dinner after. It gives you a feel for the French Quarter.

and wrote a review here previously stating that fact because we suffered some flooding and had to cancel our trip....you may read it in an earlier review. But we did end up hearing from the tour owner, and they made good on our previous reservation. We LOVED the tour. George our guide was a wealth of information about the food, restaurants and history of New Orleans. The samples that we got to taste were all excellent. The tour was paced in such a way as to not be too much or too slow. Hope that you are fortunate enough to see the demonstration that we did on Roux making. The wonderful woman that was conducting the demo (i regret I dont recall her name) put on a great show with excellent commentary. My wife and I feel that we got a great view of the French Quarter. We will probably do this again when we go back to NO.

The guide was very enthusiatic filled with great information about the area, food and how the recipes came to or was created in New Orleans. Very considerate of the heat and therefore, the need for shade and water. Very much enjoyed the tour.

The tour was great with an overall history of the city and local fare. We got to sample several Cajun and Creole types of cuisine. Our guide was great and we walked the French Quarter at a good pace. Never strenuous. Overall, I would highly recommend the tour if time permits. It takes about 3 hours.

Using the on-line reservations was very easy. And the follow-up e-mails were a nice reminder.

Huge disappointment

The tour guide appeared scruffy and unkempt, which I found very unappealing for a food tour. Our meeting location -- Antoine's -- was a very nice restaurant, and the opening presentation and first food samples were nice, but things quickly went downhill. The time spent in Antoine's viewing rooms and collectibles I found far too lengthy to keep my interest, and not culinary-related. From there, we went to one or two more restaurants for walk-throughs, more city history and no food samples! After being told the significance of a fire hydrant on the street -- which I found to be totally irrelevant -- I lost hope for the tour. It picked up a bit at the last three stops because we did get samples. I found the tour guide to be uninteresting and the food samples only okay, at best. I would not advise anyone to spend $43 for this tour. Instead, take the money and enjoy a meal at a nice restaurant .
