Great Tour!!!

A group of 3 family members were on this tour and we all agreed it was a fantastic experience and one that would be highly recommended to others. Candy, our tour guide was very informative. She connected well with each of the members of the tour....all 16 of us! She made us feel like "old friends" she was sharing her love of New Orleans's with. Of course, the food samples were fantastic and as previously stated by other reviewers....dinner is not needed after the tour. My group actually canceled reservations at Commander's Palace the evening of the tour! :-( For an opportunity to visit some of the finest restuarants in New Orleans and to learn some of New Orleans culinary history, this tour is a must!

The guide, Ms. Kagan(?), is very personable and did a great job of combining an overview of the history of the New Orleans and the Quarter with information on the restaurants and the food! We have recommended this tour to our friends!

Highlight of our trip

We specifically did this tour the first day of our trip in New Orleans to get an idea of what to eat and the layout of the area. It was a great tour. It was at a relaxed pace so we didn't feel rushed, but it wasn't so slow that our son was getting bored. There wasn't too much walking and the food was great. Actually the portions were larger than what we expected. We actually went back to one of the places to eat lunch. I would highly recommend this tour to others.

Informative but range of restaurants was narrow and some were closed. Tour guide offered to many opinions. Enjoyed connecting with like-minded people.

Have taken this tour twice before, but never with George. He often talked too low or too fast to understand. and his voice a montone that made it seem he wasn't to excited about what he was showing. Liked the sights and tastes but overall it left us remembering the better experiences we had.

Our tour was a full 3 hours long, ending with a cooking demonstration at a store that sells many of the spices and sauces we had sampled. This was convenient for us as we wanted to bring some things home. There was not any sort of pressure to buy anywhere along the tour. We started at Antoines, and sampled Gumbo. We then crossed the street to Leah's and sampled Pralines (the best I have had so far). We had turtle soup at Desires, Brisket at Tujacques (sp?), and shirmp remoulade at Arnauds. We had a side jaunt into a cookbook store, which was very cool. We had muffelleto and Gelato at a place whose name I do not remember. At the cooking demo we had chips and dip and beans and rice. All along the way we had culinary as well as city history from a knowledgeable guide with a local cooking background. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and recommend it.

An Introduction to New Orleans French Quarter

The tour started on time and was conducted by a guide who was personable and knowledgeable. We got more than we thought we would get. He conducted us through the French Quarter visiting some of the most well known restaurants stopping to taste signature dishes. In between the restaurants and even in the restaurants he told the history of the area and the families who brought the foods of New Orleans alive. We also visited a cookbook store and small deli that delivered a taste of the most glorious gelato. The tour ended at the business place of a women who explained the making of a roux and some of the basic tastes of the city. It was a well spent 3 hours. I would look forward to another tour the next time I am in the city.

The New Orleans French Quarter Culinary History and Tasting Tour is a great way to spend an afternoon touring many of the French Quarter's historic restaurants and tasting their signature dishes. The tour guide was not only knowledgeable, but also quite humorous.
