Enjoyed parts of the tour

Our group enjoyed the culinary tour but had taken a walking tour of the garden district the day before and enjoyed this much more. Our guide was alright but we would have wished to hear from the actual chefs at a couple of these places. We did not like going in the little shed behind the gift shop where we tried red beans and rice. That just seemed kind of odd to us. I would recommend someone doing this tour at the start of a New Orleans trip to get an overview of the regional cuisine, but after we'd been in New Orleans several days, this trip wasn't quite what we'd expected.

My teenager children, husband and I enjoyed the tour. Tour offered very good food and history about New Orleans. We took the tour on our first full day and it helped us find our way around New Orleans. My children also enjoyed it very much. The gumbo at Antoines was the best we had!

We had heard about the culinary tour from fellow teachers at the NEA Representative Assembly, and signed up based on their recommendation. It was a fun and fabulous experience. The tour leader, Renee, was interesting and engaging. She clearly knew her stuff, and regaled us with stories about the places and personalities associated with the various restaurants. The food samples were just enough to whet our appetites but not so much that they would ruin the experience. Our favorite activity was the demonstration for making roux. I can't wait to get back to my own kitchen to try my hand at roux and other fun food activities.

Our tour guide was George. He was very knowledgeable and was eager to share his knowledge of Nola history and culinary information. My son and I really enjoyed the tour, the guide, the food and everything about the entire 3 hours! I thought for sure that beignets would be included since they are so famous in Nola (not that we didn't eat them twice a day anyway..!!) but we loved the tour and would highly recommend it to everone.

It was very nice to have a small group to do this tour. It was interesting to actually go behind the scenes in a couple of restaurants. It would have been nice to do more of this. The guide was knowledgable and informative. The food was good, if somewhat skimpy.
