Highlight of our trip to Charleston!

| My husband and I loved this tour! It was on December 1, 2007, and I had hoped to meet the famous Amanda, but Sarah, our guide was knowledgeable, delightful and warm. The stops we made were ones we would never have found without her guidance (except for River Street Sweets which is a place we visit often in both Savannah and Atlanta for their great candy). The guide gave us samples of many types of food and was careful to make sure we all got to try everything. The vendors were all cooperative and charming. (We went back and purchased after the tour at every place we visited but the butcher shop.) We were on a tour with 8 people. I don't know how you could do this tour with a bigger group because when the guide walked and talked as she led us along the sidewalks, those of us in the back could not hear. Eight is the largest number that would work in my opinion. The restaurant reviews from the guide were helpful and we would not have enjoyed our trip nearly as much had we not known where to eat to get great local food. We may well have just hit tourist traps, and missed FIG and Cypress. All our purchases came from the Farmers Market and the Craft Market held the next day, so I have a lot of Charleston to enjoy now that I am home. Will definitely be back to these places and Charleston Cooks!
The weather was perfect during our tour, but it was almost all outside, so I feel sorry for those who do this in rain or cold. My one admonition to those who take a walking tour is to wear very comfortable shoes, dress for the weather, and bring a tote bag to carry your parcels because you will shop along the way and carrying 5 pounds of gourmet grits is not fun! Also, it would be helpful to know how many miles this tour is because if you have difficulty walking this far, this is not the tour for you.
As I mentioned, this tour was the highlight of our trip and I would enjoy doing the other tours if they are half as good as this one! Outstanding! |

| I thought that the tour guide was very fun and knowledgeable. The tour was a little expensive for no more tasting that we had. The farmer's market was free to anyone, so that really doesn't count. The one vendor at the farmer's market did not make any grits (which I think was part of our tour). The Charleston Kitchen shop also had run out of something that was supposed to be on the tasting as well (they provided a single Ritz cracker with cream cheese and pepper jelly). The only real good stop was the butcher market. There was a few samples there that were good. Overall, I didn't expect a "meal" but it just seemed it was lacking a little. |

| We really enjoyed the tour. The guide was well informed and the stop at the wine and cheese shop was particularly enjoyable. |

| Savor the Flavors was a worthwhile walk through Charleston. The Market talk/walk was interesting and we had a variety of items to taste. The stop at the tea shop, Teavana, was disappointing as we spent too much time there. It is always a pleasure to stop at a chocolate shop and the chocolate we tasted were as interesting as the history behind them. I would recommend the tour. |

| Very informative on the local foods, their history, and where you could find them at the local restaurants. Tasted many things I would never have tried on my own....and actually liked some of them.
I expected to visit restaurants or bakeries and watch the foods being prepared (and hopefully receive samples). That is not what this tour is. We spent the majority of time at the farmers market. We also visited a tea shoppe and a chocolatier. While we were skeptical at the beginning, we did enjoy the activity.
Wear comfortable shoes, you walk quite a distance. |

| The guide was very friendly, informed, and thorough. The stops exposed us to aspects of Charleston cuisine that we would not have known without a guide. The foods we tasted were diverse and interesting. We enjoyed walking around the city.
This was one of the highlights of our visit to Charleston. |

| This tour provided an overview of the culinary history and culture of the lowcountry. I was familiar with some of the information as my husband is a native of the lowcountry and I am a native South Carolinian who has taught SC history. Information was presented in an enjoyable manner, the sites we visited were well selected. I would recommend this tour to others and I would like to take another Carolina Food Pros tour next time I am in the Charleston area. |

| I really enjoyed the tour and the guide was excellent. We went thru the Farmers Market and tasted/smelled many different items, mainly local to the area. (I had grits I actually liked!!) Then to a candy store for another round of tasting YUM.. then to a 'cooks' store for another tasting. It was a lot of walking which was fine for me but an older person would have had a hard time. My only complaint was that I thought we were going to "shops/or producers' to see how things were made and that wasn't really what it was,,ie.. tour not exactly as described perhaps.. But, like I said, the guide was really good and interesting and knowledgeable and it was fun. I liked the farmers market the best. I would recommend.. |

| Most of the tour was basically a tour of the farmers market. I thought it was advertised as being much more comprehensive then it actually was. We would not do this tour again. |
