| All the food presented was great. It really gave you a feel for charleston. Our tour guide Cathy was very knowledgeable and truly loves Charleston. I'm really into grits now and am glad to have had the time to sample your cuisine. | ||||||

| What a fun tour! Our guide was very personable and knowledgeable. The food which we sampled was delicious! We later returned to three of the places which we visited and made purchases there. We dined at three of the restaurants which our guide had talked about. This was a fun way to learn some of the "culinary history" of Charleston. | ||||||

| We really enjoyed our guide...very friendly and informative. Our favorite stops, I think, were the Dixie Supply and the spice shop We went back to both later and might not have found them otherwise. The other stops were great also. I would certainly recommend this to friends. The only suggestion I would make would be to add one more stop. Perhaps another restaurant. | ||||||

| The tour was interesting and provided a narrow view of Tastes of the Low Country. The grits at the Dixie Supply and Cafe were very good. My wife and I stopped there several times during our visit. They made a grits eater out of my wife. The stop at The Cooks store was a little lacking. It was more like a commercial than a Taste of the Low Country. The Benne wafers did not seem to be a good representation of the Low Country tastes. The Belgium Chocolate stop was definitely not representative of the Low Country. The Main Street Sweet Shop presented a good use of the regionally grown pecans, the pralines were delicious. We had to get some to take home with us. The final stop at the restaurant was very nice. It gave the tour group a wonderful taste of a low country meal. I would have liked to see something like Shrimp and Grits or a Gumbo in the mix of flavors on the tour. Something that showcased the Gullah style of cooking. | ||||||

Expensive guided walk to downtown shops

| We paid $42 (plus $2 service fee) per person online. The website did not seem to indicate that you could make a reservation and pay when you arrived for the tour and avoid the fee. It did say that reservations were required though. There was some interesting information provided, but the tour basically took us to places where we could make a purchase. We started at a cafe and were provided with a small drink and a taste of grits. We stopped at Charleston Cooks as well as a praline store, both of which we had been to on our own the prior day. We also went to a chocolate shop that gave a brief description of the chocolates and tiny chips of chocolate samples, which I think could've been gotten by anyone walking into the store. Another stop was at a really nice spice shop and then a restaurant where we had a sample of the pulled pork and collards. All the stores were in the shopping area of downtown Charleston and could have easily been visited on our own. I felt that the tour was priced quite high for what it offered. I would definitely pass on this tour. | ||||||

| It was an interesting tour of the farmers market and some small specialty shops. Too sweet for our west coast tastes. We had to keep reminding the tour leader of the items listed as traditional Charleston food. We did enjoy some of the local farmers produce and meeting the farmers themselves. Wish we had been able to go on the restaurant tour. | ||||||

| Sarah was our tour guide. My friend and I really enjoyed the tour. Sarah was very informative when it came to the history of Charleston and how it relates to various foods in the Charleston area. Even though it was really hot (usual Charleston summer) Sarah kept telling everyone to stay hydrated and walk on the shady side of the street. I would definatly recommend this tour to anyone visting the Charleston area. | ||||||

| we took this tour thinking that the tour would enlighten us about southern cooking. It started out on the right track with a visit to a local southern cookery where we had a dixie cup of grits and a long discussion about the native Indians and their influence on cooking. After that this tour turned into a gross commercialization and blatant effort at getting the group into stores to BUY!! Imagine a short walk through a praline store only time to buy but no talk about this so uthern delicacy A Belgian chocolate store ,a international spice and tea store.What do they have in common with Southern cooking? Not again.What a waste of money ans 2 and a half hours. | ||||||

| The tour was a blast! I would encourage anyone to do it especially towards the beginning of your trip. There are so many great places to eat and if you do it later in your visit you might miss out! | ||||||

| I took the savor the flavors tour with my parents who were visiting me. I am currently in the Navy and stationed at NWS charleston. I thought this tour would be an excellent way to learn more about the local culture and history of the Charleston area. We arrived on Saturday at the Hunley replica and met our guide, Susan, who was waiting there for us. She gave us a brief synopsis of the tour to come and then we departed. We wandered around downtown seeing some of the historical sites that shaped Charleston and also sampling foods indiginous to the area. We stopped at the local farmers market and tried many local specialties such as mint sweet tea, fresh locally grown fruits, stone ground grits, different jams and jellies, and even freshly made candies. Susan was an excellent tour guide who was informative and flexible. She was happy to answer questions and alter plans if our group found interest in something different. Ifound the tour an exellent representation of what Charlestonians are all about. Susan also recommended the best local restaraunts which we ate at later and truned out to have some of the best food we had ever eaten. I highly recommend this tour as both someone who loves food and who has worked in and out of Culinary Arts since I was only fourteen years old. To put it simply, TAKE THIS TOUR!!! | ||||||
