Fun First Time Food Tour

This was my first food tour. I would have to say overall I enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to others. I think Food Tours although called "Food Tours" is not so much about the food but about the experience. I enjoyed the history that came along with the tour and learning about Old Town Alexandria. It was nice to visit restaurants that you would not normally consider. The food was good, I don't think I was blown away by anything, but it's just a fun experience. You will definitely be full, we visited four different restaurants. It makes sense to walk around for the tour in order to aid with digestion and make room for the next stop. We had a small intimate group and were able to talk with others. Our group was only 6 people and I think that was big enough. I think the tour was a bit pricey for the food you get, but paired along with the walking/tour of the city, I would do again.

Good mixture of historical and food tour. Guide very informative and pleasant. Restaurants well chosen, although for myself I would have left out the Lebanese restaurant. That was not because it was not good. It was perfectly OK. It just did not fit within the historical theme. Alexandria itself well worth a visit.

Old Town Food Tour was fantastic!

I highly recommend the Old Town Alexandria Food Tour! Austin, our tour guide was cheerful, outgoing and very organized. She would call ahead the restuarants that we were going to be eating at so that when we arrived we were seated immediatly together with our group. Austin also gave a very informative tour of Old Town as we walked from restaurant to restaurant. The food was amazing at all 4 places we ate at. We were welcomed at each of the restaurants we dined at and were treated extra special. We also had the opportunity to meet some really nice people in our tour group. It's a great experience, a lot of fun, great food and remember to come hungry! We plan on taking the Georgetown Food Tour soon!

Good food plus history in Old Town

My friends and I enjoyed our tour guide's historical information about the town. The food was fairly good but different selection could be made at the initial restaurant and more information about the food served at the lebanese restaurant. Our favorite was the couscous and scallops at the 'Firehouse'.

Perfect for people who live in DC, and tourists. I lived there for 2.5 years, my fiance for 25 years, and for romantic weekend we decided to take the Old Town Alexandria food tour with Leslie (our guide) who was delightful! The tour was 3.5 hours long, and $60 per person (worth every penny) We started off in Market Square, and ventured to four places along the tour, all the while Leslie giving us really interesting facts about the history of DC and Old Town. This was perfect for us, being that I am a bit of a foodie, and my significant other loves history. Our group has a total of 12 with locals and people visiting. We stopped at Virtue Feed and Grain (delicious homemade Hop tails (beer cocktails), the Columbia Firehouse (really great risotto, and scallop with many, many local beers) The Pita House (which was my favorite, super clean flavor, grandma's simple yet yummy recipes) and Bittersweet Bakery (Alexandria Jelly cake). It was a beautiful day to walk the streets of Alexandria with the Cherry Blossoms and brides everywhere, its a perfect thing to do in the Spring/Summer. Great for a gift for your boss, parents, boyfriend/girlfriend, or anyone. They also do private tours for bridal parties and team building corporate activities. We had walked by several of these places time and time again, and didn't know the great food that was inside! Leslie was super friendly, knowledgeable about the DC food scene, and very personable. I would highly recommend this tour, or others in DC for anyone who loves food, or is looking to do something new and different in DC.

A very pleasant way to pass a few hours with good food and company. Leslie was a great, energetic and knowledgeable tour guide. The food was tasty and plentiful and learned a lot about the history of Alexandria. Highly recommend this tour.

We (my husband and I) really should have tried this earlier in our vacation, as we had a really nice time! We took the Old Town Alexandria Food Tour. We walked all around Old Town Alexandria. Our guide, Leslie, was extremely knowledgeable. There were 10 of us in the tour, some locals, others not. The locals said they learned some new facts about Alexandria that they had not known. We (tourist) definitely learned about Old Town Alexandria. Along the tour, we stopped, as Leslie (our guide), told us interesting stories and facts about various houses and buildings. We saw one of the two remaining cobblestone streets in Alexandria (but I won't mention the name, as you need to take the tour to learn that). We also learned what the "purple door" meant back in colonial time. If you want learn what those meant, please take the tour. Oh, where is the food you ask? We stopped at four different restaurants along the tour, and were treated to four different meals, one of which was dessert. Dessert was the Jelly Cake - again, you'll find out more about this cake when you take the tour. By the way, it was Yummy! Would we recommend DC Metro Food Tours - YES!!!! They offer other tours for other areas in DC. We are planning on other vacations to the area, and will definitely take more of the DC Metro Food Tours. Maybe they can come out west too? It's just a suggestion. Thanks DC Metro Food Tours!

Charming City, Great food!

Offered a variety of cuisine and local fare, while walking approximately 1.5 miles. Historical anecdotes accompanied the on-foot portion which were entertaining and informative. Our food stops included a cheddar cheese skillet with grilled veggies and a cocktail (appetizer), scallops and couscous, lebanese sampler (humus, pita, beef/chicken, etc), and a coffee and cake dessert. All of the food was delicious! We went as a couple and didn't know anyone else in our group, which was still a lot of fun, but I think this would be a great outing with a group of friends. Atmosphere is laid back with plenty of time for conversation.
