We're from Northern Virginia but have not spent much time in Alexandria. We thought this would be a great way to sample a few restaurants in the area and learn some history and it was. It was a great mix of walking, talking, and stopping for meals. Dena was our guide and she was very personable and provided some interesting facts about Alexandria. We definitely recommend this to tour to others and we look forward to trying other tours offered by DC Metro Food Tours. |

The tour Guide was a nice guy and very engaging. He was knowledgeable. We had dietary restrictions and he did a great job in trying to make sure they were met. One restaurant made a couple of mistakes and he spoke with them to rectify what he could. They did a good job in their rectification. It was our wedding anniversary and he gave us a small gift at the final destination to make up for the restaurants error. I would use them again but would suggest that a beverage besides water is included in at least one of the meals for the price that we pay.
thanks. |

I first heard of DC Food tour from trip advisor and knew right away that this trip would be great for me and my friend since we love food history and day trips. The restaurants were charming and the appetizers at Bilbo Baggins was one of my favorites. I definately plan on doing g another food tour. |

We went on the tour with Ted as our guide on 10/23. The walking tour was really interesting and we learned a lot about the founding of our nation. Stopped at 3 restaurants which all had great food, and then had tea and cake for dessert. Would highly recommend to anyone! Suggest getting to the location early, parking is difficult. Oh, and adult beverages are not included in the price, but you can pay the server seperately. |

The food tour was a perfect compliment to our weekend in Alexandria. We got to experience Old Town history as well as delicious food from local restaurants. Food was great and we were absolutely full after the tour. And our tour guide Ted was excellent - he was very knowledgable of the city, it's history, and certainly had us entertained the entire time. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Alexandria! |

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgable and gave us great insight into the history of the area. I enjoyed the walk almost as much as the food. Dena (our guide) was fabulous. |

The tour was very interesting. Dena, our guide, was outstanding. The actual food tasting was not what i expected. i thought it was going to be a tasting of numerous dishes at different restaurants. I didnt' realize we would be having one dish at four locations. I didn't imagine a half a chicken salad sandwich would be part of a food tour. That was a little disappointing. And 2 of the dishes were seafood. While I'm not allergic to seafood, I do not like it. So my optons were limited. I may recommend the tour as something different to do in DC, and old town is beautiful. But it wouldn't be due to the food. |

This was such a great outing that I would take visitors on as well as recommend for locals. It was a history tour and had great samples from local restaurants. Its better than just a tour or dinner at a new place because you get both. Perfect for groups or couples. |

Overall experience was a positive one. We had a total group of 7 which made it more personable. Our guide was friendly and informative. We discussed the historic relevance of the buildings and the city founders. The food was tasty and we liked all of the meals with exception to one, but that is personal preference. My only critique would be that we had a vegetarian with us but for some reason the restaurants were not informed and our guide was not aware of this either. We had the meal at one restaurant changed but I felt eyes on us as though we were just informing out guide we had a vegetarian out of no where, when in fact we had tediously typed the special diet in the dietary needs before purchasing tickets....please ensure the agency confirms your special dietary needs. Another critique was that our pretty small group only had a table for all of us at one restaurant. All of the rest of the restaurants had us at separate tables.....this hindered any group conversation. This came across as unprepared. Final critique; our guide had their family members on our tour. I am sure they were visiting and were enjoying a tour by our guide (their family member). Our guide was great, but regardless I feel this is inappropriate and unprofessional. Our guide sat with her family on their own table and they conversated with each other. Our guide did check on us, but I felt that we could of had more of a group discussion if they were not there...it is a distraction for anyone. With my critiques aside, I enjoyed this experience! And Yes, I would try it again with visitors. I am also booking tickets for the Georgetown food tour. I just ask that these critiques are taken into consideration by DC Tours. |
