I enjoyed the food tour and Robert was great. It should be called Food/Historical tour because you learn so much.

The Old Town Alexandria Food Tour is great! The tour provides the perfect mix of eating, walking, and listening to the tour guide (Dena is the best!) discuss the history of Old Town. I went to new places I'd never been before and learned things I never knew before. And, last but not least, the jelly cake is amazing!

My parents and I took this tour while they were visiting me in DC, and we absolutely loved it! The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, and she kept everyone upbeat even though the weather was not so nice. I could not believe the size of the portions - what a great value! Make sure you come to the tour hungry. All of the restaurant owners came out and said hi to us, which was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this to friends, and I will be sure to take another food tour when I have other visitors in town.

Beyond Expectations!

Great Tour! History with food, archetecture with food, comedy with food and a great tour guide and even more food made this a first class experience. Our knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide made great sense of the maze of Capitol Hill. Her knowledge of the history of the area and of great local eateries made this the best city food tour I have been on. I recommend this to anyone that wants to have a fun afternoon in the Washington area. I couldn't believe that three hours could go by so quickly. Not to be missed! P.S. Eat lightly before you go. The food was unique, and the portions were satisfying.

Great Food Tour

I loved this tour. Our tour guide Natalie warned us that it was going to be a lot of food and that she feels that she did not do her job unless we were full at the end of the tour. Let me tell you that it was like a full meal at every stop. There were four stops in all (3 food/1 dessert) and I was more then full by the second stop (of course that didn't stop me from eating everything at the other two stops). Along with the food was a very informative tour of the Capitol Hill area and it's history. Natalie was a wealth of information about the area and had such an infectious good attitude it was impossible for me not to enjoy myself on this tour.

This tour is truely a culinary experience as well as a history lesson. We enjoyed a wonderful walk among many historical places of interest and our guide was so charming and extremely knowledgeable.. She shared so many interesting facts with us. The food at each restaurant was outstandingly delicious and the service was top notch. the combination of walking through history, learning and eating fabulous quisine, made this tour unforgetable. I can't wait to try the other tours!

Another great tour by DC Metro Food Tours! The Capitol Hill Culinary Experience is quite the culinary adventure I must add. A full belly, a fun guide, and a unique historic walk in between. I loved the dessert at the end at the Eastern Market.

I had such a fantastic time on the Capitol Hill Tour. The guide was very friendly and made the tour so much fun! The food was outstanding, and quite filling! I learned a lot of new things about the history of DC, and saw parts of Capitol Hill that I never even thought existed. I highly recommend this tour to anyone. Great job DC Metro Food Tours!

There is food for thought as well as for your stomach on the Alexandria Old Town Food Tour. The excursion made a promising start at Bilboa Baggins, although the size of the portion left some of us worrying about pacing ourselves for two similar meals at the next two stops. The food was excellent - tasty and unusual. Luckily, it emerged that the first stop was in fact the 'main course' as two smaller meals followed. The Union Pub offered delicious, home-cooked potato chips and a small serving of oysters and soup - perfect for a starter - and it seemed a more logical choice for the first stop of the tour. Finally, the Lebanese sample to finish was probably the most disappointing. Sharing and passing selections of dishes is all very well among friends, but awkward between members of a tour group who have only just become acquainted. Most people were too polite to take more than a mouthful from each sample plate. Plus, the bland nature of the food didn't leave many begging for more. This meant there was plenty of room for dessert - Jelly cake at a gorgeous tea, coffee and spice shop. In between the food stops was an informative, amusing and friendly narrative about the history of Old Town. The stop in the Lyceum was particularly interesting and, although we live locally, we walked away with a lot more knowledge of various sites and streets in Alexandria.

Great time!

This was a great time and awesome experience for the both of us. Let me start off by saying that we were late due to the fact that we didn't know that there was an art fair going on in Old Town. We were worried that we would miss the tour but than Molly called my phone and let us know where we could meet up with them at and that was awesome and made our day. We than met up with the tour shortly after it began and let me tell you it was well worth the parking struggle. Molly was an great tour guide and she kept us entrained and well fed I might add. Her knowledge of the local area was impressive and even taught a couple of locals like us some new things about Old Town Alexandria. We highly recommend this tour and we will be going on the capital hill tour and eastern market tour as well. Thanks to DC food tours and a big thank you to Molly!

Great way to spend a a day in Old Town!

The only confusion we encountered at the start of the tour, as someone else has already mentioned, was finding our Metro Tours guide. I understood that someone would be at the Old Town Visitors' Center, where I looked first, but instead, we found our guide across the street at the corner of Market Square, a simple misunderstanding (probably mine). Natalie, our DC Metro Tours guide, was pleasant, articulate (we could understand her very clearly), and well informed. She described the tour before we began our walk, then kept us informed, not only about the sites we were visiting, but about what was coming up: how long until the next stop, whether there would be a WC available, etc. This information was very helpful for a long-ish tour (3.5 hours). We enjoyed all of our stops, whether a historic site or a restaurant. It was especially nice to walk to the waterfront and through the Torpedo Factory, where we encountered a glass harmonica player giving a performance outside! Our favorite stops were Bilbo Baggins and Union Street Public House, as the food was hearty and flavorful at both. Pita House, our last stop before dessert, was more of a challenge for two reasons: (1) a couple of people in our party are not particularly adventurous eaters, so they tried the shwarma and falafel, etc. but weren't particularly impressed; (2) the amount of food served at this last stop was partcularly generous, and by this time, we were pretty full from the previous two restaurants. All told, though, we had a great time in perfect weather (not too warm, and slightly overcast - great walking weather) taking a well organized tour.

Very nice except for one eatery

We enjoyed the tour very much. The only exception was the restaurant that served us sushi, which only a very few people ate. The Lebanese food was the best. It was nice to find out all about the history of Old Town, especially since our son now lives there. I do not think we received a good value for the money. For three of us, it cost $150. We could have had several wonderful meals for that much money.
