Food tour had a lot of great stops and we learned a lot of great information. Overall the choices were very varied and had some great food items. My favorite was Sea Catch and the food at Baked and Wired. |

I liked the mix of local information and the nice food although stops two and three offered very similar dishes.
The food tour was a pleasant way of spending a late afternoon in Washington. |

I absolutely recommend this tour! Our guide, Christian, was extremely knowledgeable about the area we toured (history, culture, food). The food was GREAT, and plentiful. The restaurants on the tour even went out of their way to arrange gluten free options for one member of our group. Absolutely take the Georgetown food tour if you have the opportunity :). |

I am a local to the area and could not believe how much I did not know about Alexandria! There were restaurants I had never tried before. The food was outstanding, and my group was a really fun mix of people. Our guide was very friendly and seemed really love what she was doing. Even locals should try this tour! Great tour for all! |

Five faces of Fell's Point

What made this tour 5-star-worthy were the eclectic cuisine and ambiance of the five restaurants; the history, architecture, and overall flavor of the lively waterfront Fell's Point neighborhood; and a guide, David, who clearly loves Baltimore as much as he loves food. The restaurants on the tour--in order of appearance, Ze Mean Bean Café, Hungry Andy's, Tapas Adelas, One-Eyed Mike's, Todd Conner's--mingled seemingly old Baltimorean ambience and cuisine with more ambitious and exotic flavors, with plentiful servings ranging from Polish blinis to Spanish tapas to a fried PB&J sandwich.
Over 3˝ hours there was plenty time to linger at each stop, and plenty of time in between to glimpse Fell's Point's history and envision its future. Only four people took the tour that day (12 is the maximum), which made it seem more like a restaurant crawl with old friends than a guided tour. This was our first food tour and, assuming the other tours in the D.C.-Baltimore area are nearly as good, it won't be the last. |

To be perfectly honest his wasn't our first choice of food tour in DC but we had a thoroughly enjoyable time in the company of our guide Sharon & two other couples. Sharon was a very enthusiastic & knowledgeable guide who lives in the area. She seems to know everyone & even introduced us to a lady Captain in the Marines (I'd love to know how many female Captains there are in the Marines). We enjoyed each restaurant we visited - Indian, El Salvadorian & Greek, finishing with a pear bread & butter pudding with a bourbon sauce. Capitol Hill is not an area we would have explored on our 3-day visit. We're pleased we took the tour because not only did we have great food but we saw a lovely part of DC, which looked like a picture postcard. The autumnal colours helped somewhat & was a surprise. We got on well with our group & I think everyone enjoyed themselves. We had a good laugh & we all contributed to the experience. We'd like to thank Sharon for an excellant tour. Graham & Fiona. |

On the positive side, the food was wonderful, and there was a lot of it. Definitely come hungry and don't plan on eating dinner after. Also, I thought this was a great thing to do with my out-of-town guests whom otherwise wouldn't have made it to this DC neighborhood.
However, the "tour" portion left something to be desired. I know that this is one of the company's newer tours, but the guide would forget the items of interest. We would frequently hear things along the lines of "A famous person once lived here. I'm drawing a blank on who it was, but anyway, moving on..." There was also very little description of the food we were eating. The guide would give a brief description (e.g., "it's chicken and vegetables"), but couldn't give us much more than that.
Additionally, there were 13 people the day we took the tour, and it was difficult for the whole group to hear the guide's spiel. Often, she would speak in the direction of what she was pointing out, rather than at the group, so only those closest to her would be able to hear.
I think there is definite potential for this tour, but you might wait until they iron out the kinks and the guide gets a little more experience. |

We visited 5 restaurants and toured the area around them. It was very well paced and the food was fantastic as well as the service. At several of the restaurants the owner was there to greet and welcome us. We are already looking forward to our next tour. If you love food and history this is a perfect option for you. |

Obviously DC on Memorial Day weekend is something to remember as far as the parades, patriotism, museums and monuments. These event were all great, but the weekend would not have been the same without going on the Dupont Circle food tour.
The tour lead us to 4 different restaurants with very different tastes. The guide Leah was excellent in explaining each dish from each restaurant and also entertained by pointing out local DC facts and attractions/landmarks as we walked to each establishment.
In giving a brief synopsis of the places we went I warn that I am not a picky eater and very much a foodie so these are reviews based on an open palate. The first place was a small family run Malaysian restaurant that was amazing. There were many different finger foods (utensils provided as well) that were very flavorful and unique to Malaysian cuisine. This was my wife's favorite place.
Second we went to a more funky nuevo Mexican restaurant and had 2 pulled pork tacos and yuca fries. This was alright, but nothing special and it was a little ruined by the crowd at the time of some afternoon young loud drunks. The place was clean and interesting to see and again for was ok, but this was the least enjoyed on the tour.
The third place we went was a fusion type place with good local craft beers. The dish we had here was amazing......we were served 3 large seared scallops on this white bean salad that was amazing. This was one of the restaurants more popular dishes and you could see why. I had a local DC beer here as well that was great and went perfect with the dish.
The last place was a Greek style restaurant that was wonderful as well. First we were served this warm air filled bread that steamed when you opened it, and this was accompanied by 3 dipping sauces (hummus, tzatziki and a red pepper sauce). All 3 were delicious....The dishes were some lamb meatballs (wonderful), chicken skewers (cooked perfect) and a sweet rice that went well with everything. Lastly we were served some baklava that was great.
I did not mention the landmarks and sights that were pointed out, but you can imagine getting a tour and all this food for a very low cost. The Dupont Circle or any of the food tours are a must when you are visiting DC!!! |

Our tour guide, Deena, was professional, well-informed, interesting and fun.
We loved the ribs and oysters at the Union Street Station and the food at our 1st stop; but were not too fond of the Mid-Eastern dishes. We would have perferred a bakery shop stop for dessert.
We learned a lot about Old Town Alexandria and its early inhabitants and enjoyed having the walking tour interrupted by restful, refreshing, food and beverage stops.
Would highly recommend this tour; it was one of the best values of our week-long trip. |

Good mixture of historical and food tour. Guide very informative and pleasant. Restaurants well chosen, although for myself I would have left out the Lebanese restaurant. That was not because it was not good. It was perfectly OK. It just did not fit within the historical theme. Alexandria itself well worth a visit. |

mike was a terrific guide....he mingled with our very large group exceptionally well. i would recommend that you come to the tour hungry and then if you still wanted something go from there...reviews had suggested there was food for snacking...my sense is that it was a meal. great attempt at satisfying all, in our group there was one that didn't eat beef, a few did not like seafood, a few that did not drink alcohol, a couple that did not eat pork etc yet all were provided alternatives. 3.5 hours did sound like a long time but the time flew by, the pace was perfect for anyone. my husband had knee surgery two months ago and did just fine. really fun experience...would try another city food tour in a heart beat....jg/buffalo ny |
