well worth the money

THIS WAS A VERY RELAXED,WONDERFUL HISTORIC /EATING TOUR. OUR GUIDE WAS VERY PLEASANT AND FILLED OUR HEADS WITH INTERESTING TIDBITS OF HISTORY AND THEN HAD PREPLANNED STOPS AT SOME VERY UNIQUE AND TASTEFUL RESTAURANTS OFF THE MAIN STREET OF ALEXANDRIA. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT (WE HAD ONE RESTAURANT WHOSE SERVICE WAS SOMEWHAT DELAYED IN TIMING,BUT OUR TOUR GUIDE PICKED UP THE PACE AND PHONED AHEAD TO THE OTHER RESTAURANTS TO LET THEM KNOW WE WOULD BE A LITTLE DELAYED.) MY HUSBAND AND I WILL DEFINITLY BE TOURING IN OTHERE CITIES WITH THEM-GEORGETOWN OR BALTIMORE AND I WAS TOLD BY OUR GUIDE THEY ARE EXPANDING TO POSSIBLE CHICAGO. GREAT TIME- DELICIOUS FOOD AND FILLING.

Our tour guide, Christian, was a wonderful source of local Georgtetown history. He walked us by two of President Kennedy's former homes. We had multiple stops along the way enjoying homemade pastas, flatbreads, wine, cheese, fresh seafood and finally coffee/dessert. Couldn't have asked for a better way to spend our evening. My friend and I look forward to picking another DC food tour when we return for our conference next year.

nothing special

the capitol hill food tour basically tried food at four different places, all on 8th street. we would literally walk around the block then stop and eat. there was such a disconnect with the tour (pointing out historical notes among the neighborhood buildings then eat indian food). while the food was good, it was nothing special. I have had all the cuisine that was offered (indian, salvadorian, soul, american) and I did not feel like I got a "taste of capitol hill". I left a bit disappointed, although full. would not recommend to foodies.

This tour was terrific. Sharon was so knowledgeable about the Capital Hill area and the international foods on the tour. Food was more than plentiful.

Great food!

I absolutely loved all the food we tried out and found that each establishment was well run by friendly, fun people. My boyfriend was unenthusiastic about going on the tour in the first place, but he likes history and we had no idea how much we would learn about fells point, which he really enjoyed. The history portions helped break up the focus on just eating. The only thing I would throw out there is to be prepared for different group dynamics, if its cold out you may be on a tour with just your party, and if it's nice out you may be on a tour with up to 14 other people. Either one could be good or bad depending on what kind of experience you're looking for. We were fortunate to have another couple on our tour with us that provided great company and kept the conversation entertaining when the tour guide wasn't speaking. It was also really nice that we got to sample great food at restaurants that we never would have looked into otherwise. Overall, this is an awesome way to spend a day, the walking isn't tedious, the area was historic and fun.... just pack warm clothes if its cold out!

Entertaining historical touring

I like museums at a 5 on a 1-10 scale. This tour was historically factual but allowed time to learn some of the local flare as well. We learned things from the beginnings of our country as well as local issues that affect the Capitol Hill neighborhood today. The eateries were fun and informal and places that anyone can enjoy. Our tour group was small with only 6 of us plus the tour guide. The guide actually lived in the Capitol Hill neighborhood and many folks stopped on the street to greet us as we walked the area.. This was by far the best thing we have done in DC out of 4-5 different visits and I will be suggesting this to anybody I run into that has DC as a vacation destination. Sorry, Sharon that we couldn't tip you last Friday but we didn't bring any cash with us!!

Both my husband and I loved the tour. Zack, our guide, was awesome and knowledgeable about everywhere we went. It was great to learn things about Fell's Point that we wouldn't have know otherwise, and the food places he took us to were wonderful. I will recommend this to everyone I know because it was totally worth every penny. Thank you Zack!

We had a great time. It was a stressful trip to start out we had a hotel mix-up the night before the food tour. So Saturday when we went on the food tour, it was just complete relaxation and swept all of the stress away. Our tour guide Mallory was so sweet and very knowledgeable about the area she was showing us. All of the restaurants were kind and courteous. The only one that I was not too thrilled with was the Coffee and Tea shop at the end of the tour. I was going to purchase some items from them, but the cashier was rude and not attentive, so I decided to take my business elsewhere. I have food allergies and Mallory made sure each restaurant knew in advance what I could and could not eat, and she went out her way to double check once we were there. Thank you for a wonderful time.

My husband and I really enjoyed the food tour! Not only was our guide extremely knowledgeable and very friendly, but the entire experience was wonderful. We went in January, which was a bit cold and windy, but our guide made sure to adapt our walking tour so that we spent about 10-15 minutes walking and exploring the town between sights, and then stopping in to eat at the various restaurants for at least 15 minutes each. This is definitely the way to see and learn about historic Alexandria! My husband and I even returned later the next week to dine at one of the restuarants for a full meal, because we loved the food and atmosphere at the restuarant. We hope to return to Washington D.C. and also take part in the other food tours there. We highly recommend the food tour!

mike was a terrific guide....he mingled with our very large group exceptionally well. i would recommend that you come to the tour hungry and then if you still wanted something go from there...reviews had suggested there was food for snacking...my sense is that it was a meal. great attempt at satisfying all, in our group there was one that didn't eat beef, a few did not like seafood, a few that did not drink alcohol, a couple that did not eat pork etc yet all were provided alternatives. 3.5 hours did sound like a long time but the time flew by, the pace was perfect for anyone. my husband had knee surgery two months ago and did just fine. really fun experience...would try another city food tour in a heart beat....jg/buffalo ny

An Amazing Walk

This was the perfect marriage of history and food. Janet was a great guide, (she should be she also works for the Capitol Hill historical society). and gave us a ton of information about the area. We visited four restaurants, Indian food, El Salvadoran food, Greek and finally desert. If I have one tiny complaint it is with the amount of food, we had WAY too much food for the six of us and left food on the table at every stop. I don't like food being wasted so maybe they could adjust the amount of food to the amount of people signed up? This may also lower the price a bit? That said it was great fun and I would certainly do another one next time we are in the DC area.

My boyfriend and I went to Baltimore for a weekend just to get away for a while. I looked at trip advisor and saw that the Charm Food Tours were highly recommended so we decided to give it a try. I am a big history buff and my boyfriends loves to eat so I thought it would get a great combination, and thankfully it was! All the food we tried was AMAZING. My boyfriend still talks about the sliders we had at one of the stops. The best part of the tour however was our tour guide Matt. You could tell he really loved Baltimore and was able to not only tell us information about what we were touring but was able to answer any questions we had in addition. He told us about Blue Moon Cafe and suggested we go there the next day and we so glad we listend to him because their Captian Crunch french toast was incredible. He also gave us a map and showed us the best places to go for the the rest of our trip and the routes that we should take. He went above and beyond the typical tour guide and will definitely do the tour again as long as we have him to show us around.

A great way to experience Baltimore

I have already recommended this tour to friends. Zach was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing his experience and expertise with us. We enjoyed wandering up and down the cobblestone streets of Fell's Point, going places we would have missed if we had tried exploring on our own. We appreciated the variety of restaurants/bars that we visited and the history that we learned. Zach was patient and answered the many other questions I asked. He also suggested other activities we might enjoy and shared facts that even Baltimore natives might not know. (Just why IS it called "Charm City?") In terms of the actual food that was part of the tour, by the time the tour was done, we knew we would have to visit the restaurants another time because we were full. And everything was delicious. The only suggestion I would have is it might have been nice to have a map of our route that we could have used at a later date to retrace our steps a little more easily. This tour really is a don't-miss experience in Baltimore.
