| My husband and I were celebrating our 4th anniversary and decided to try out this tour. We really wanted to do something different and fun. We came across this tour and decided to try it. It was the best tour I've ever done! The whole experience was amazing, from our tour guides Sam and Jeffrey to the history and food. I love how they incorporated learning all these neat things about Capitol Hill in with food. It didn't feel like your average tour we had a great time. We can't wait to go on the other tours they offer! We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone! Micheal & LeShe Hunter | ||||||

| Our group had more than enough to eat! It was a special treat to have a guide who was a true native of Washington, DC and who was familiar with the area. We enjoyed her personal recollections and would have enjoyed hearing even more about the history of Capitol Hill and the charming residential neighborhoods we visited. It ws a fun way to learn about a unique section of the city. | ||||||

| The historical walking tour of Alexandria was wonderful. The majority of the food was fairly good, however it seemed that the food had been sitting out for sometime at 2 of the 3 restaurants (specifically Bilbo Baggins and Pita House). I would recommend coordinating the timing of food preparation with the tours, so that the tours are served food at an appropriate temperature. The lebanese restaurant was my least favorite due to the shabby looking interior, and the food was quite cold. I truly enjoyed walking around town and hearing the historical facts--the guide was quite knowledgeable. Our guide said the walking was only 1.5 miles. However, I would question this estimate, and the walking may be a bit much for an elderly tour group. Perhaps instead of three small meals, a full lunch and a dessert stop would be a better and more complete experience. | ||||||

| Our tour guide, Natalie, was wonderful and made everyone feel welcome. She introduced us to great food—delicious Ecuadorian, Indian, North Carolina BBQ, and a great Jewish dessert. It was a nice, small tour group and everyone instantly became friends. The warm weather wasn’t a problem because we were having such a good time. We are really glad we took the tour because we would have never discovered the great neighborhood we explored. My partner is a vegetarian and the owner made arrangements for great veg options without a lot of fuss. You NEED to take this tour! | ||||||

| We really enjoyed this food tour. First, it was fascinating learning all about Old Town Alexandria. We saw the 1st house built there, learned about the architecture style, saw the re-creation of George Washington's house and learned the Potomic used to be 2 blocks closer but the people extended the land to accommodate more houses. Second, the food was FANTASTIC. We went to a wide variety of places I would have never thought to go on my own. The people at each restaurant were very nice and the portions were a really good size. This tour provided us with something different to do, we were able to get out & enjoy the weather, learn about a new place and eat some fantastic food. I would recommend this tour to anyone! | ||||||

| Because I am a local, maybe I am being too harsh, but this tour could be better. Keep: Bilboa Baggins Christ Church Union Street Tavern (change the fried oysters to something else not greasy and more universally liked) Ditch: the small museums torpedo factory Lebanese place Add: one of the house museums (like Alexander's house?) one of the waterfront restaurants the jelly cake was good, but not the grand finale everyone raved about. | ||||||

Best Washington DC Tour - EVER!

| As a local myself, I'm always looking for Washington, DC tours that are different - I'm not a big fan of the typical, droning, narrated walking tour. I'm SO GLAD I found this tour! The "Capitol Hill Culinary Experience" is a food tour with that does not disappoint. I had two friends with me, both big guys, 6'5"+. They both commented on the incredibly generous portions at the food stops and neither one was hungry by the time we were done (heck, we weren't hungry after the first stop). I won't give away the details, but it was varied, delicious, and filling. There is some tour narration on the history of the Capitol HIll area, Eastern Market (which just reopened after a terrible fire two years ago), and some architecture and historical details that are actually interesting. Natalie, our guide, was absoutely professional, yet personable and very attuned to the group. The guide can make all the difference and she was engaging, funny, and informative. Of all the tours of DC I have done and taken friends & family on, this one is definitely worth a repeat. Oh, and one couple was running late and the owner of the company, DC Metro Food Tours, arranged to meet the couple and then brought them to us as we were going between sightseeing stops (historical homes of Capitol Hill). That was such great customer service and I was impressed that they didn't dump that responsibility on the tour guide, so she was able to focus on the guests who were there. And, by the way, take the information about parking seriously - it's difficult to find, so best if you ride the Metro in to the Eastern Market Metro Station stop. | ||||||

| We loved the food tour! We have been on a number of other food tours in the past, and this one was unique in that we were able to enter a number of historical spots in the city, like museums and historical homes. Christine was wonderful, and we would recommend this tour to any of our friends! | ||||||

| A fantastic way to find great places to eat, some interesting facts and try something new. The food was great, generously portioned and very varied and the guide filled us in on lots of information about the places we walked past. We also enjoyed that you get free time in a couple of places to look at displays and exhibits. | ||||||

| The enthusiasm of the tour guide was a real plus, without being too over the top. She clearly enjoys what she does and is able to share that perspective well. The food was really excellent; top quality, a broad range, we got to sample many things that we had never tried before. Even with the standard Virginia summer afternoon downpour, we didn't feel it impacted our enjoyment at all. Even though we are all local, several of us discovered products and eateries that we hadn't known were here. Really a fun way to get to know your fellow employees better, in a relaxed environment. | ||||||

| This was a good way for a fairly frequent visitor to get off the beaten track and enjoy some new and different experiences in Old Town. The tour is an interesting mix of food, history, architecture and fun. The meals are not gormet but there is plenty of it, the mix is pleasant, the quick service wonderful and you overall experience is good and worth the cost! That means a lot these days. I would add a wine option to the meals. Would certainly want to try the DC tour on the next visit. | ||||||

| Our guide, Deana, did a very good job conducting the tour. We were shown many interesting houses in Old Town and we were introduced to many interesting facts about them. The tour was well paced. It was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon with a guide who was a professional who cared to do a good job. The restaurants that were chosen for the tour were interesting and the foods they served were very good. | ||||||

| On the positive side, the food was wonderful, and there was a lot of it. Definitely come hungry and don’t plan on eating dinner after. Also, I thought this was a great thing to do with my out-of-town guests whom otherwise wouldn’t have made it to this DC neighborhood. However, the “tour” portion left something to be desired. I know that this is one of the company’s newer tours, but the guide would forget the items of interest. We would frequently hear things along the lines of “A famous person once lived here. I’m drawing a blank on who it was, but anyway, moving on…” There was also very little description of the food we were eating. The guide would give a brief description (e.g., “it’s chicken and vegetables”), but couldn’t give us much more than that. Additionally, there were 13 people the day we took the tour, and it was difficult for the whole group to hear the guide's spiel. Often, she would speak in the direction of what she was pointing out, rather than at the group, so only those closest to her would be able to hear. I think there is definite potential for this tour, but you might wait until they iron out the kinks and the guide gets a little more experience. | ||||||
