A broad spectrum

The food tour was very good and there was a broad spectrum of foods from oysters Rockefeller to college food. The guide was very good, though I would like to have known more about the establishments we were eating at . The guide knew quite a bit about Georgetown.

My husband and I enjoyed the DC tour. Barbara, our guide, was knowledgeable, informative and shared many interesting stories and facts with the group. We tried several new ethnic foods that were new to us and thoroughly enjoyed all that was put before us. We would highly recommend this tour for anyone in the DC area!

I did the Capitol Hill food tour on a Sunday afternoon with a small, miscellaneous group of 4 people, plus a tour guide, Barb. Barb was very professional, honest and fun to follow around. She gave much insight into the history and architecture in the Eastern Market region during the walk. We had three restaurant stops on our tour, with plentiful food and drinks at each location. I was initially afraid, being somewhat of a foodie, that the fare would be very conservative to appeal to a wide audience, but was pleasantly surprised to find that a variety of ethnic cuisines were served. Definitely worth the cost, and I'd certainly do another such tour in the future!

Entertaining, informed afternoon with good food

I decided to buy tickets for the tour as part of a day-out with my girlfriend. I didn't quite know what to expect before the tour started, but by the end, had had a really good afternoon. The guided tour of Alexandria was not the typical historical drawl - instead it was a combination of quirky facts, tidbits about the modern/historical neighbourhoods and some good (and varied) food. I would highly recommend the tour - especially as part of a fuller day-out in the area.

For not much more than you may pay for a standard tour, you get to enjoy some excellent food along the way. The tour guide and owner were both very friendly and knowledgeable. The food choices were great. I plan on doing their other tours in the near future.

Worth it if you like history and eating

When I saw that this was a food tour; I had the idea that it would be a tour where you eat lots of food. Well, this tour had that and I wasn't hungry at the end - but it really was more of a historical tour with a visit to 3 restaurants and a coffee shop to "cool" off. Unfortunatley, if you have done the day tours, you end up getting duplication for some of the time. I'll have to decide if I want to do the DC tour if it is the same format. All that being said - I still enjoyed the tour and I had not eaten at all of the restaurants AND I found a great place to buy coffee and tea. So all in all I recommend the tour in Old Town Alexandria if you want to get a little taste of history and eat some good food.

Because I am a local, maybe I am being too harsh, but this tour could be better. Keep: Bilboa Baggins Christ Church Union Street Tavern (change the fried oysters to something else not greasy and more universally liked) Ditch: the small museums torpedo factory Lebanese place Add: one of the house museums (like Alexander's house?) one of the waterfront restaurants the jelly cake was good, but not the grand finale everyone raved about.

Office team enjoyed this very much

The enthusiasm of the tour guide was a real plus, without being too over the top. She clearly enjoys what she does and is able to share that perspective well. The food was really excellent; top quality, a broad range, we got to sample many things that we had never tried before. Even with the standard Virginia summer afternoon downpour, we didn't feel it impacted our enjoyment at all. Even though we are all local, several of us discovered products and eateries that we hadn't known were here. Really a fun way to get to know your fellow employees better, in a relaxed environment.

Our Food Tour of Old Alexandria was so much more than a food tour. We learned interesting history and tidbits about the neighborhood. Visited the church George Washington attended, visited the Torpedo Factory Archeological Museum, etc. Our Tour Guides were knowledgeable and charming. And the restaurants served an eccletic assortment of dishes, a nice variety. Certainly didn't need any dinner that night!

great mix of history and food

Tour was a great mix of the history of Old Town Alexandria and some tasty foods from area eateries. My usual limit before boredom sets in is about 2 hours but the 3.5 hours on this tour did not drag on. Guide was great at giving all the important details and answering any questions from the grou. Also very knowledgeable about the places we stopped at and the foods that were served us. If I find myself in the Alexandria area again in the future, I won't hesitate to sign up for this tour again.
