Over the past 30 years I've read a lot and watched everything that comes up regarding the Manson murders. I still learned quite a few interesting facts. Mostly I prefer to do my own thing, to spend as much time as I want visiting a site. However this tour takes you to so many little known sites that are part of the story, there's no way I could do it myself. This is not done in a hurried fashion either. Strange as it may sound, my wife took me (at my request) on this tour for Valentine's Day. It wasn't the most romantic date, but we both enjoyed it!

Amazing tour. As soon as we boarded the van, great old 60's music started playing & continued on & off throughout the tour. We hit all the main crime scenes & points of interest. there were lots of interesting videos on the TV to watch. Scott is very knowledgeable & did great job of explaining where we were & what went on. The 3.5 hrs flew by & I would do it again if ever in the area. Highly recommended

Helter Skelter: The Definitive Tour
Sat, Dec 29, 12   9:00 AM consuegr Female 20-29 Local Couple on a Date
The Helter Skelter bus tour is the definitive L.A. crime/Manson murder excursion. A documentary film (in this case, The Six Degrees of Helter Skelter) brought to life, the tour takes visitors along the paths of both killers and victims alike, retracing the steps and connecting the contextual dots surrounding the Tate/LaBianca murders of 1969. Historian Scott Michaels, who hosts the tour, provides a thorough and informative glimpse into the Hollywood of the late sixties- a Hollywood made all the more infamous by Manson and murder.

Scott Miicheals is one of the foremost authorities on Manson facts and trivia. Your day will be filled with information with a rockin soundtrack and video in the background. Don't be afraid to ask him any questions because he will know the answer. No "Gee I don't know's" here"! Please buy the video for the tour also as it contains scenes of Death Valley and Barker Ranch which is to far to travel to and the ranch burned down so its nice to have. Hey I bought a tshirt too! You will have a blast!!!!!

Scott gave a fascinating tour. It was really interesting to actually see the areas where the murders took place and to get a feel for that time. The use of audio and video really added to the atmosphere. Scott was friendly, considerate of the group, a great narrator, and very sensitive to the nature of what he discussed. He also pointed out sites not necessarily related, but interesting to see nonetheless. Highly, highly recommended for anyone interested in this case.

Superb Tour

Everything about this tour is great. Scott Michaels is a brilliant guide and very informative and entertaining throughout. That said, this is a serious and tragic subject which is dealt with great respect by Scott. It's not a tour that sets out to glorify the Manson Family at all, sympathy as it should be, is strictly with the victims and their friends and families. For anyone who is making or has made a serious study of these events the tour is a must. If your just curious and want to learn about the events it is also well worth taking. Scott encourages everyone to discuss the information during the tour and is open to new insights and info from his tour members. The audio and visual info given, as well as the sites visited, are also excellent. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Mick

I am very familiar with the case, so there wasn't much new for me personally. Another problem is that the Cielo residence is long gone, and the LaBianca residence has changed somewhat with more high shrubs and security fencing (thanks to Mr. Manson). However, Scott Michaels is an expert (even though he denies it). He is a super nice guy and is very respectful of the victims and their families. He adds to the tour by showing video snippets (Jay Sebring in Batman, bad Sharon Tate movies, etc.) that I found interesting. He also provides a rare souvenir at the end of the tour.
