Brian Donnelly was the best tour guide ever. Was very educated, but was a true comic. Kept us entertained entire trip...never a dull moment. Have already recommended as a must do to my family & co-workers. Money well spent!

Fascinating and Entertaining Tour

I highly recommend this tour, even for locals. The tour guides are what make this tour exceptional. Rather than being hired employees reading off a script, they are life-long experts; obsessed with Hollywood noir and scandal. They've been interviewed as experts on countless TV shows, and have authored books on some of the biggest Hollywood murder mysteries. Their expertise and enthusiasm is engaging and entertaining. A great way to spend an afternoon.

This tour was amazing! I have been to Hollywood blvd so many times but to actually be shown and told of the history and tragic deaths of celebrities is so worth the trip. Also, our tour guide was so outgoing and gave us so much information and I would definetly do another tour again!

I am an LA native and thought this was a GREAT activity. I learned so much about my city that I never knew. Our guide (and tour owner) Scott was great. He knew SO much and had answers to all of our quirky questions. I would HIGHLY recommend this to locals and visitors alike!

I would highly recommend taking this tour. Brian, our tour guide, was amazing! He was a walking, talking, driving macabre history book. Never a dull moment! We're looking forward to taking the regular Hollywood tour in the near future.

My husband planned a surprise trip to LA for us for Valentine's weekend 2012. I literally didn't know where we were going until we were boarding the plane. Once I found out, the first...hopefully I don't sound morbid....thing I did was try to buy tickets to Helter Skelter. I was so disappointed when I found out the trip was sold out! Yet, my husband planned ahead and purchased the tickets well in advance. I was so excited about the tour. From the moment we met our guide until the very end, everything was great. He was extremely well-informed about so much involving Manson. The trip involved many places I would never have thought, including old job sites from the victims, etc... In no way did he glamorize Charles Manson or the Family. He paid respects to the victims by giving small background information on each person. The bus was comfortable for a small group of people....it was the perfect size to feel included and feel open to answer questions, etc. We even received a small "gift" at the end of the tour! For anyone who may be even remotely interested in this, I say to definitely do it. My husband had no idea about Charles Manson other than the little bit of info I gave him after reading 'Helter Skelter' and doing my own research. The tour even sparked his interest. Definitely worth the money!!!

A Mind-blowing, Ka-Pow, Overwhelming Tour
Sat, Feb 11, 12   9:00 AM dandareich Female 50-59 Local Couple on a Date
It doesn't matter if you weren't born yet, weren't old enough to understand, or were simply not paying attention to what happened in L.A. in 1969, the year of the Tate-LaBianca murders. No one understood what was going on for a long time even back then, and it's all still mind-boggling now. Scott Michaels and his staff will take you on a wild ride to key sites of these murders as well as points of interest and the "degrees of separation" relating to Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, Rosemary and Leno LaBianca, and the other victims (as well as Charles Manson and his Family). If you haven't yet read Helter Skelter (by V. Bugliosi and C. Gentry) or seen Scott Michaels' Six Degrees of Helter Skelter, don't worry. During the tour, you will shown video and audio clips that will inform you of the crimes as well as familiarize you with the victims and their murderers. Be prepared to hear Charles Manson's voice as you ride through areas of L.A. and Beverly Hills; be prepared to be chilled to the bone.

Second time touring

Always a winner, one of the best, detailed tours you can take. No one knows more nor more accurate info. than the guys at Dearly Departed. I never miss a round with them every time I am in town and have the spare time. Not like the "packaged" tours...much better!

We enjoyed easily seeing a variety of sites and hearing interesting stories while still feeling that we could ask questions specific to our interests. The tour gave us an overview of Hollywood that has triggered further reading and movie watching.
