Best Tour in Hollyweird

Anyone who is looking for something a little different than your typical Hollywood tour is in luck. The tour was fun and informative- Brian kept us laughing the whole time. Great sites. You see so much more than typical Los Angeles. I'll definitely be returning to take the Helter Skelter tour.

Highly entertaining and informative, and definitely unlike any other (boringly regular) Hollywood Tours. Cool!

Excellent way to see the city

We took the dearly departed tour on a beautiful California day. Our guide, Richard, was exceptionally knowledgeable about the area, pointing out all kinds of interesting facts along the way. He was very funny and patient as we asked a hundred questions!! We didn't want to take a tradiional stars homes tour, and thought this would a more fun way to see the city. We were correct, I would recommend this tour to anyone I knew who was visiting the area!!

My girlfriend and I decided to take this tour this past weekend. I couldn't recommend it more highly. They took us to place we had never been to in LA ,and all the information was on point and accurate. It is definitely money well spent!

Pretty Good, not fantastic

Although I generally enjoyed this tour, I felt it wasn't *quite* as morbid as I had hoped. It was neat that they showed us Rebecca Schaeffer's apartment, the street where they filmed Halloween, and that they discussed the Black Dahlia. But there was a lot of the more tedious, modern celebrity stuff I didn't care about--the site where Rihanna was beaten up by Chris Brown, for example--that I wish was less focused on. We stayed mostly in Hollywood and Beverly Hills, so I felt it was sort of limited in scope. It would've been cool if they delved into the OJ Simpson case (that was Brentwood, no?) or the Manson Murders (which they only mentioned when we passed the El Coyote Cafe). I would've liked to have seen Sharon Tate's house, but I understand they only visit it on a separate tour. Overall, not a bad way to spend an afternoon, and if you're interested in the morbid side of Hollywood history, you are sure to enjoy it to an extent. Our tour guide (I think his name was Richard) was funny.

This tour is perfect for anyone that is fascinated by the dark side of Hollywood. Our guide Brian was so knowledgeable! You could tell that he eats and breathes this stuff. It was a perfect birthday treat for me! You learn more about some of the most famous Hollywood crimes as well as learning a ton about other celebs. I wouldn't recommend this for families or people with young children as some details and photos are graphic. Don't miss out!

Loved It!

Not a dull moment! Guide was enthusiastic and we caught his Hollywood fever! Around every corner we turned was a an enthralling bit of juicy Hollywood gossip. It felt like a quick 2 1/2 tour. I suppose all fun things pass too quickly! Talked about the tour with friends for days. A tip at the end of the tour is optional but it ought to be at least 25%!

An Afternoon with Hollywood's Dearly Departed

When you live in L.A. for many years, as I have, you tend to go around the places you live and work, so it was fun to see a part of town I don't go to that often. My brother and his friend, a long-time follower of findadeath.com, were visiting from NY/NJ and wanted a Hollywood tour. Our guide Brian Donnelly was entertaining and knowledgable about Hollywood's violent deaths old and new, from the Black Dahlia to Ronnie Chasen. And, heck, we even had a sighting of Jesus at the George Michael bathroom. What more would you want from the dearly departed?

I lived in LA till I was 30, and just came back for a visit. I never took a sightseeing tour before, but I thought my friend would enjoy it. We both had a blast!

Hollywood Movie Tours: enjoyable time well spent
Sun, Aug 14, 11   10:00 AM catnewman Female 50-59 Local Family Without Children
This is an upbeat 2 1/2 hours tour of over 50 unique movie locations. Our tour guide, Brian Donnelly, was informative, friendly and knowledgeable. He was able to answer a variety of questions about Hollywood trivia and movies. A lot of thought went into the planning of this tour to synchronize its driving route with scenes shown, inside the 13 seat van, on a big screen t.v., while traveling to and from each location and through intersections making us feel like we were in part of the movie. In most instances, we were able to park by or in front of the actual building, area or location for a clear, close-up, full view. There was extra time to stop and take pictures. The van has temperature control, air conditioning and extremely comfortable seats and the tour still operates regarless of weather conditions. This company took the time to research these movie locations which are not on most tours in the Los Angeles and Hollywood areas. We looked at various architectural styles from different decades used in movies as establishing shots to set the mood, era and geographical location. The Happy Days house is in Los Angeles, not Milwaukee. Each location stop along the way has its own picturesque history like the story book style houses, that Disney employees once lived in, which inspired their movie animation. Dearly Departed Tours is a small company, without a local office, so everyone boards the tour van outside of a bookstore on Hollywood Blvd. The Hollywood Moive Tour is ONLY available at 10:00 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday, PROVIDED ENOUGH PEOPLE MAKE RESERVATIONS, or you can sign up for the waiting list. We had fun.

The man really knows his stuff! If you are visiting the area or even a LA local, check out this tour. You won't be disappointed.
