great tour!!!!!

enjoyed seeing the history and locations of hollywoods rich and famous. I would like the tour to concentrate on what it wants to be- is it a tour of famous hollywood locales? Is it a tour of famous crime scenes? combination? Even though I enjoyed the historical aspects, I was expecting a recap, ala the first visit (rebecca schaeffer), throughout, yet got a mismash of info, (the set of dw griffith,e.g.) not really complaining, but left me a little wanting. A lttle tweaking will make it a classic!

Great Tour and Awesome Tour Guide!

Just went on the tour last week...it was raining, which made it even better! The tour was great, I thought I knew most of the scandalous LA history, but I learned a lot that I wasn't aware of. Plus Scott throws in extra non crime celeb info, for instance I found out that the school a block behind my apartment building was where they shot parts of Grease!! Scott is very knowledgeable, a lot of fun, and definitely loves what he does. Forget the rest, take the Dearly Departed tour when in LA!!

the best tour ever!!!!

This tour was a gift to me for my 30th birthday, and I could not be more pleased!! Scott, our tour guide, was so incredible! There was not a dull moment on this tour, and seriously, it felt like an old friend was showing us around town, making sure to not miss a thing! I've been on quite a few tours around the world and have always had problems either, hearing or understanding the guide. That is not the case this time around. The speakers were very clear, and scott was very articulate and hilarious with his dearly departed humor! Surprisingly, I was not afraid for my life being driven around Los Angeles by someone else! That was an added bonus for sure! Feeling safe on LA roads is a task in itself!! I could go on and on about what a treat this tour was, but really... to truly know what i'm saying.. one HAS to take the tour themselves..

Fun for Locals

The tour covered a lot of ground with some familiar paths (Sunset and Hollywood Blvds), but mostly off the beaten path sites. A good mix of famous, infamous, old and new sites. The Dee Dee Ramone apartment and Hollywood Towers hotel were hits for me. Stop number one really hit me hard - real sites, real people and real tragedies.

I took my friend on the Departed Tour as a birthday present, and it was entertaining and fun. I've taken other tours in the past, and this one had new things to offer. We did see a lot of great famous death sites. I liked that there is music and recordings to accompany some of the stories and places we went to, Our guide was great and the picture book is a nice touch. The only disappointment I had was there were a few places I thought we would go by that we didn't (last residence of M. Monroe, OJ murders, Phil Hartman, Wonderland Avenue, and the location of the Tate/Manson murders). Overall it was a fun experience made even better by going around halloween.

Tour guide (Richard) was very pleasant and had a lot of interesting information to share. He had a great sense of humor and made the 3 hours very fun and seem like no time at all. He also handled driving in busy Los Angeles traffic with ease and made me feel safe. As we are local, we are interested in taking more tours with this company and recommend this tour to all those interested in Hollywood history.

good mix of light & dark tidbits

a variety of weird things throughout the area are mentioned along the way so it wasn't as specifically morbid as i imagined. but it was interesting! learned about alive celeb's homes, dead celeb's homes, murder/death sites, movie/tv show locations & some just plain crazy places are pointed out. if it was JUST a death-related tour the 3 hours would go by slow- but they don't! and even in the inbetween moments there's informative books to look at, audio being played & a guide who'll answer your questions :)

Where's the beef?

This was my first Hollywood tour and was excited. Unfortunately, I found the tour lacking on information and on incident locations. We spent a good deal of time in traffic, and I felt the tour was rushed because of the delay in traffic. Also, the view from within the van wasn't good. The tour guide would make reference to look up and ahead, but, being seated at the back of the van - we were unable to see much. I did, however, appreciate the few photos and sound that was provided for some of the incidents. This tour has much potential, but unfortunately at this stage its only potatoes without meat. Where's the beef? Sorry, I wish I could have given a much better review.

The tour director was very personable and interesting. Took us when rest of group did not show up. Very good for business.
