amazing tour guide! tour not only touches on death and scandal, but it tells you famous film sites and discusses the history of hollywood itself. you should definitely make enough time to get there and roam around the office to see the famous death artifacts (rock hudson's death bed isn't available for public view until february, i was told). i was given two free "death hag" stickers when i said it was my birthday and that i loved the helter skelter doc on Netflix they put out. also, when we got to a previous residence of Marilyn Monroe's, the tour driver announced it was my birthday and played her rendition of "happy birthday mister president" for me. stating how often on a birthday do you get to be serenaded by Marilyn outside her old house. great time! i want to come back someday to do the full on helter skelter murders tour |

this tour was actually great, but it lasted nearly 3 hours and was almost information overload. I was exhausted by the end. |

This tour was a very intimate look at Hollywood/Beverly Hills and I would highly recommend it. It's not for the "faint of heart" though! Our awesome tour guide, Brian, was absolutely brilliant and so knowledgeable. I liked his honest way of presenting the facts and yet respectful way of sharing some things that I am still having a hard time stomaching! I will never look at this area the same again and if I ever come back to LA (not likely ;)) I will for sure look them up! Thank you! |

Our group had a great time. The guys who run it are cool. There are some non-death related facts and tidbits in the tour that provide a good processing time for the rest of the death stuff. At first I was like "why is he talking about that house? No one died there." And then I realized it gave my brain a nice break from all of the other information so I could process more once we got back into the dearly departed part. Good job!!
I think it needs an update and I would say some of the information on the lesser known people is too quick since few people have a reference for it, but other than that, it was great. Loved hearing the 911 calls and interviews while driving past the places. Good mix of information and fun. Thanks! |

I had so much fun on this tour, from the tour office until the very end! I am a local born and raised LA girl, a celebrity sighting is nothing new to me. I bought these tickets for my significant other for Xmas, she's very into the education of crime, etc. and is always really star struck when we see someone famous. The tour was very informative, even for someone like me that thinks she knows the history of LA and the "hotspot" locations I had many '"oooh" and "ahhh" moments. Our tour guide was funny, informative and generally very pleasant. I am definitely going to do the Helter Skelter tour next. And I have been recommending the Dearly Departed tour like crazy. The only issue, and its not really an issue, is that I got really hungry and food is not allowed on the tour bus. So eat a meal before or take a snack to eat during the bathroom break. |

My husband and I were visiting (from Minneapolis, MN) our CA friend and wanted to go on a tour that would show us movie locations. Our friend suggested we go with the same tour company that she had been on for the Dearly Departed Tour. We all had an amazing time; Brian Donnelly was engaging, fun, and genuine from the moment we arrived and I can't imagine there is anyone else as knowledgeable! My favorite part of the tour was seeing the "Murder House" from American Horror Story and how the DVD clips were perfectly timed with our arrival at the locations. Since my knowledge of older movies is somewhat limited, I felt I walked away with a new appreciation for Hollywood's history. The variety of movie locations from different movie genres is also very appealing. We fully intend on getting back to Hollywood and going on another tour, and we enthusiastically recommend anyone visiting or living in LA to go on one through the Dearly Departed Tours. You will be so glad you did! |

Helter Skelter: The Definitive Tour

The Helter Skelter bus tour is the definitive L.A. crime/Manson murder excursion. A documentary film (in this case, The Six Degrees of Helter Skelter) brought to life, the tour takes visitors along the paths of both killers and victims alike, retracing the steps and connecting the contextual dots surrounding the Tate/LaBianca murders of 1969. Historian Scott Michaels, who hosts the tour, provides a thorough and informative glimpse into the Hollywood of the late sixties- a Hollywood made all the more infamous by Manson and murder. |

My husband and I went on this tour as a part of our honeymoon in California. I was the one who initiated it, because I love Hollywood history and findadeath.com, but my husband really enjoyed himself as well. Our guide was hilarious, very knowledgeable and personable. The tour itself comprises a large amount of the city and is a great way to see the landmarks and sights and make the most of your time there. |

I was glad when my friend from Missouri came into town and suggested we take the tour. I have always wanted to go on a tour like this, but it took an out of towner to get me to go. Now I want all my local friends to go on a tour with me. It's nice to get the scoop on the history and architecture that we take for granted seeing it all the time. Brian was an amazing tour guide. My friends and I had a great time and that was in part due to Brian's infectious enthusiasm. Fun &informative without being silly or corny. |

You need to have a sense of humor to do a job like this & even though this tour shows the dark side of Hollywood, our tour guide was well informed & made the tour fun.
Looking forward to reserving more tours with this company in the near future. |

This was the most exciting tour that I've ever done! We live in the area and are always learning about things that happen in our backyard, past & present. This was an in depth trip around Hollywood that brings you face to face with history. Scott has created a jewel in Los Angeles that deserves the highest awards and Brian is an absolute amazing tour guide. I recommend this tour to everyone visiting and locals alike, you won't be disappointed. |

Make sure you leave yourself enough time to view the artifacts in their shop either before or after the tour.
The tour is informative, sad, shocking and funny. It's amazing the history of Hollywood and Beverly Hills with so much history in such a small area.
Take your camera. Full marks to the driver and tour guide. I believe his name was Richard.
Highly recommended. |
