Wamba - what a tour!

My friend and I did not know what to expect but were completely open for this experience. We have to give some major kudos to our tour guide because we were so impressed by the amount of detail he provides to ensure we understand the intricacies’ of this tragic event. He has video, sound bites, photos and of course you are taken to the majority of the major sites. For anyone considering whether you should take part in this tour, my thought is that you won't be disappointed.

Scott was great....knowledgeable, good sense of humor, efficient and friendly - if you're interested in the Manson case, this is a must-do!!!

Great. Long, but understandably so.

It was a really cool tour, that I'll take again when family comes in town. Los Angeles is a bit sprawling, so it took a while to get from place to place. The information in the in-between bits was good. And the highlighted portions were spectacular. The recordings were fantastic and the host was great. Will definitely do the tour again!

We expected Scott Michaels
Sun, Mar 8, 09   1:00 PM LisaDeines Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Two of us had done this tour before with Scott Michaels and it was worth every penny. Scott gave us so much information and answered all questions asked with great detail. Bragging about how interesting this tour was, we recruited 4 others to join us...although a year later we were all excited to do the tour again. To our surprise our tour guide was not Scott and immdeiately the excitement for the tour was quiclkly gone. Second time around I thought the tour was average...especially after doing the tour with Scott the 1st time, it was just not the same. Please consider an option to let people know before they pay who will be giving the tour. We thought we were paying for Scott Michaels who is well known, especially for his Dearly Departed Tours.

Very informative and fun tour

the tour was very good, only 3 comments had I known the back seats of the van were less roomy I would have called shotgun or tried the first row if they provided more leg room for those of us very tall people. while a 2nd stop was suggested no one seemed to speak up and say they needed one, maybe have a destignated 2nd restroom stop, if nothing else just to get stretch the legs. I do like to tip on great service and I did tip but all the signs in the van recommended 15-20% maybe change the price of the ticket from $40 to 46.00-48.00. Otherwise a very fun tour and would recommend it, and my fat and tall friends I would still recommend and would just tell them to get the choice cheats on the van.

This tour had not one dull moment. Our guide, Richard, did a great job with a lot of detailed information and helpful tourist tips, too. We'd do it all over again.

a fun time!

it was a combo of dearly departed/and some celebs homes etc. plus, we saw the hollywood sign! i truly loved hearing about/seeing The Osbournes ex house, one of Marilyns homes, where Mae West used to live, and where they paved paradise & put up a parking lot!! and of course the story of the Hollywood Sign Jumper, why would someone walk miles up a hill to kill themselves? i guess she had to think it out first! i wish we would of heard more about: Marilyn, Tupac, and the Wonderland murders. but at least he gave us a map of how to get to Marilyns grave! thats intense. anyway, don't park @ the Farmers Market= i think its easier to park in the middle of the st. sideways, besides there!! just when u think u found a spot, its a darn 20 min. limited spot! then u have to drive around in circles until some happy shopper finally moves their car, while your trying to get the spot before the other 5-6 cars waiting gets it!!

I lived in LA for 10 years and knew nothing of what I was told on the tour. A great job is done of blending audio, pictures and of course the actual sites. It was interesting and I was amazed at how our guide knew the answer to any and every question he was asked! You will not be disappointed if you do this tour, I would and will recommend this to everyone I know!

More death, more details, less drivel and drive-by
Thu, Feb 26, 09   1:00 PM dr92649 Male 40-49 Local Family Without Children
As an avid reader of findadeath I was expecting a tour tightly and entirely focused on the locations and circumstances surrounding the deaths of celebrities. We starting out strong with several specific sites and lots of interesting details supported by a solid audio track and an interesting but barely adequate reference binder. Unfortunately, at times the tour seemed hard-pressed to find anything interesting in a given area other than the barely visible roof-top of some reclusive famous person's home, or worse yet, the lot where an actual, original celebrity home had formerly stood, only to be told it had been demolished long ago. Seeing various sites of recent scandals involving still-living celebrities was topical but I thought it was outside the advertised scope of the tour and therefor superfluous. The final third of the tour seemed fixated on the Manson Family saga (heard WAY too much about that thanks!), and the run past Paramount added little to the journey. The van was pretty comfortable and we both appreciated the bathroom breaks. In general this was a good tour -- albeit inconsistent -- with an extremely knowledgeable guide (Well done Richard!).

Value for Money!

I cannot stress how great this tour is for value for money. You get a huge amount of information, see some fantastic places, get a couple of rest stops, all while being driven around safely in absolute comfort. I highly recommend this tour as a great way to see the sights, learn some history and hear some great old time Hollywood stories. Thank you guys - great job.

Unique and Exciting Tour of Hollowood
Sat, Feb 21, 09   1:30 PM Zeppo1 Male 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
This is one of the best if not the best tour I've ever taken of Hollywwod and the surrounding areas. The guide was extremely informative and friendly and seemed to be having as good as time as the tourists. Next time I am going to take the "Manson Tour" since I have been very interested in the Tate Murders etc. This tour touches on it a little. There is much more to the tour than just the dark side of the movie industry. The mini-bus goes past many Hollywood landmarks including film locations, movie-star homes, notorious locales, and of course celebrity death locales. This tour is highly recommened and I am planning on taking some friends on the tour next time I return to L.A.

A MUST SEE TOUR IN LA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sat, Feb 21, 09   9:00 AM catundra Female 30-39 Local Individual
I am new to the area and have always had an interest in the Manson murders so when I found out there was an offical tour - I immediately bought a ticket. The tour price is very reasonable for the wealth of information and entertainment Scott Michaels offers on the tour. Whether you are only mildly interested or truly fascniated, you will love every aspect of the tour. Scott offers insider information, plenty of video and audio to entertain you as you are riding to and from the sites. The tour is very friendly and interactive. It felt like a group of friends riding around town instead of virtual strangers. However my favorite aspect of the tour, was the attention given to each tourist interest. When Scott overhead me say my favorite band is The Doors, he then pointed out Doors related locations. Many times he pointed out other topics of interest which made the tour even more interesting and satisfying. I definitely recommend this tour and all others Scott offers. He is incredibly knowledgeable regarding numerous LA sites and makes the tour a one of a kind!

We enjoyed this tour very much. Scott was articulate, accommodating, knowledgeable, and most of all passionate about his topic. His passion and enthusiasm for LA stories made this tour a stand out.
