Scott was a great tour guide

My wife and I did not feel like we were on a tour but more like we were out with friends. Scott knew his stuff and kept it entertaining. I would suggest varied tours with different focuses. We'd take them all then.

kinda interesting, but overpriced.

i found the tour to be a little too long for the amount of information/sites there were to see. i also think it was too pricey, i would value it at $25, 1/2 of what it cost. seeing the houses of the LaBianca's and the site where Sharon Tate's house was were the highlights, but driving down through the canyon to see the front of the house where a gun was found seemed like a time waster and a filler. seeing it from the road gave you the point enough. too many of these made you want the tour to end. i would have liked more information, audio, or something on Manson himself. i did find the driver very informed on Hollywood history. if your a big Manson fanatic, go for it. if you have mild to moderate interest, find the addresses of the two locations and take yourself.

I was so happy with everything... we were running late and I called - the tour guide waited for us and let me grab some water before we left. I went to work and told everyone about it and totally reccommended it! Ive lived locally all of my life and never got the view of hollywood like that! I really hope that there are more tours like that in the works! thanks again

A Fascinating, Unusual, Enjoyable Overload!

The sites and stories come at you thick and fast on this over-too-soon tour; just as you're processing one, the next is (often literally) around the corner. By "over-too-soon", I don't mean "over before it should be" - the value for money is definitely there; rather, the time flies and I'd have happily had more. I had the Dearly Departed Tragical History Tour recommended to me by a friend as, first and foremost, just a really great way to see a lot of (certain parts of) Los Angeles. It is very much that. Essentially, it's (you) being driven around for 2.5 hours just taking in streets and sights you'd otherwise likely not see, with an interesting running commentary on (a lot of) buildings and locations along the way. That potentially sounds like *any* tour, but the 'dark history' I personally found far more engaging than someone merely pointing out who lives where. If I had a criticism, it would be that it's not *nearly* as dark (or "Tragical") (or relentlessly "murder-y") as it could be (I dare say for most people it would be just the right amount), so if you're hesitating with the thought that this is some kind of grim horror tour, relax - it's remarkably mild and palatable. (I went on a similar thing in Sydney - which sadly no longer exists - which was *much* darker. Possibly why it no longer exists!) Personally, I'd have loved more of 'the dark side' but I suspect the only way to *include* more would be to lengthen the tour. Bottom line: I saw and got a great taste of a HEAP of L.A. (stunning neighborhoods, main streets, backstreets) that I almost certainly wouldn't have otherwise seen (my primary goal) and had the experience embellished by a bunch of facts unlikely to have otherwise crossed my path. An excellent way to spend most of an afternoon, and, based on this one, had it not been my last day in L.A. I'd have done one or two of the other tours DDT has on offer. Next time!

I cannot recommend this tour highly enough, it was just that good! We had the most amazing, friendly, funny tour guide, Brian, who knew everything there is to know about Hollywood's dearly departed and this made for a great couple of hours. We saw where Janis Joplin, James Belushi, Michael Jackson and River Phoenix (just to name a few) died and had a bit of a celebrity homes tour also as we went through Hollywood and Beverly Hills. During the tour you are played audio and read through a folder provided, giving details about each crime etc that occurred in the location you are looking at. We had such a great time on this tour that if I am ever in Hollywood again, I will be doing this tour again! If you are thinking about it - stop! Just book it - you won't be disappointed! A great, great tour and if Brian is your guide, you are in for a funny, funny couple of hours! Just loved it!

Both the owner and our tour guide were super friendly and knowledgeable. There's a cool display of memorabilia in the office to peruse while waiting for the tour to start. Our tour guide has been giving and training tours for many years, so is very entertaining, knowledgeable and the entire experience was a lot of fun. I was very glad I went and would recommend this tour to all.

Very atmospheric and well informed. The Guide (Scott) knew his stuff, and the sixties music added authenticity. A truly memorable experience that I would highly recommend.
