A Must Do while visiting LA
Sun, Sep 6, 09   1:00 PM mhernandez09 Male 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
just an unreal tour. I read previous reviews before signing up and thought this could not be as good as the reviews I was reading. Get to visit things revolving around movie locations, celebrity homes, murder scenes and plenty more. Such a great intimate setting within the tour bus with easy access to ask questions and create dialogue about different events, etc.... Scott was our tour guide and he is just a great guy. very considerate, polite, and very easy to talk to and on top of that...HE KNOWS HIS STUFF about a wide range of topics. I could go on and on..sorry...please do this tour..you will not be disappointed. It is Mature in nature so keep that in mind. DO IT!!! Thank you again Scott. Your hospitality and knowledge are second to none! Mike and Sally San Jose, CA

We've been wanting to take this tour for sometime and we finally did it. Brian was our tour guide and he gives the tour with so much vigor and gusto. He also provided little known tidbits of tinseltown. The tour was approximatley 2.5 hours, when it was over, we wanted more! Kudos to Scott and Brian!

enjoyable and exactly as advertised

the enclosed coach limited view of many of the sites - would have enjoyed it more with an open air van, or at least one with higher windows

Scott's a great guide!

Absurdly fun, filled with morbid trivia, ghoulish gossip and great company. If you love the dark side and fascinating facts about celebrity murders, Scott's your man. Look up the alley where Sal Mineo's murder took place; see graphic photos of the Black Dahlia's corpse; rubberneck up Madonna's driveway. Two and a half hours of sightseeing fun!

Fantastic Tour!

While the subject matter is macabre, the entire experience is very enjoyable. In addition to obtaining a morbid education on one of the most notorious massacres in our nation's history, the attention to detail and consideration of the deceased allows passengers to feel that they get to know the victims a bit better, which adds to their understanding of the tragedy. A long tour, it goes by quickly, with the guide not missing a beat or leaving a stone unturned, from Hollywood to Laurel Canyon. From random hotspots to death houses to getaways, you see it all, and the guide even supplies video footage of important areas too far to reach. I thoroughly enjoyed it, leaving with a brimming mind and a heavy heart. Though, as is pointed out on the tour, as horrible as the event itself may be, remembering and learning about it is yet another way to honor the deceased. Thanks so much to Dearly Departed. You are a local gem and needed haven for Hollywood history buffs!!!

My husband and I really enjoyed the tour. Scott didn't just show us the sites, he explained each site, the event and history of it. He has a great sense of humor and personallity for this job. He truely made this a memorable outting for us. His driving around the city made me feel comfortable, he is a very good driver in traffic. I hope to go on more of his tours soon. Thanks

I enjoyed this tour and really did not think it was gruesome at all. The deaths that were discussed were all tastefully talked about and there was nothing I really had not heard about them already. I enjoyed seeing a large part of Hollywood and Beverly Hills and the Sunset Strip on this tour. Richard was very knowledgeable about the sights he showed us.

Our tour guide was Brian Donnelly and you can tell how much he loves his job. He was full of detail about all of the many places we visited and you could tell he enjoyed it as much as the first time vistors! We saw countless homes where new and old movies were filmed. I would highly recommend taking this tour. You get to see much of the city and it will be hard to find a tour guide that is enjoyable as Brian.

Fabulous tour. Stinky bus.

I loved the tour. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. Interesting, entertaining, informative, fun, wacky and wicked. Although the driver felt compelled to refer to my footwear as "cheap" (flip flops), I forgave him as he was a super duper host and guide. My flip flops have not forgiven him. I do have to say that the bus kinda smells nasty. Not dirty. Just stale and a bit like weeks of dirty laundry. Though I'm guessing at that because I do not actually know what weeks of dirty laundry smells like. I can only guess. I realize it must be tough to keep the bus fresh smelling if it's on the road every day, but something has to be done. No, the odour is not death or Death. And yes, I do spell odour with a "u", because that is the correct way to spell it.

This is my second time to go on this tour - the first time for my daugher Cindy. It was as good or even better the second time as the first time. When we headed over to meet our guide, I told my daughter that I was hoping Scott would be the guide and luckily it was him, as there is no one better at this than him. I also took the regular Dearly Departed Tour with Scott last year with my daughter Cindy and her husband and again he did an outstanding job of keeping it interesting with multiple little details that other tours just simply don't have - never a dull moment. Scott takes his time, has restroom stops, is patience with all of the group's questions, etc. - again, I can't say enough good things about him and the tour in general - I don't know if anyone knows more about the Manson family and those events of August 1969 than Scott does. This tour also provides the best music from 1969 and truly takes you back to that year. I have been on other tours of the LA area about various subjects, movie star homes, etc. with other tour guides who appear to be completely uninformed when compared to Scott. Scott's tours are by far the very best. I can't say enough about how happy that I am with both of his tours and hope to take his new Hollywood Movie Tour in the next few months and may repeat the Dearly Departed Tour again before too long. My daughter Shelley and I will be going on one of them in November, and my daughter Lisa and I are already looking forward to stopping in LA to take one of his tours next summer when we head up to San Francisco. He's the very best and the tour was positively amazing!

The tour was full of large and little details - never a boring lapse. The guide was extremely knowledgable and shared with all of us.

This tour is perfect for anyone that is fascinated by the dark side of Hollywood. Our guide Brian was so knowledgeable! You could tell that he eats and breathes this stuff. It was a perfect birthday treat for me! You learn more about some of the most famous Hollywood crimes as well as learning a ton about other celebs. I wouldn't recommend this for families or people with young children as some details and photos are graphic. Don't miss out!

Not for those with a conventional sense of humor. If you enjoy things dark, ironic, screwed up, and creepy, this is the tour for you!
