unique look at local history

This tour is hard to book and is almost always sold out. I got fortunate and was able to get on board. The tour was fantastic and "Richard" the guide was very knowledgeable. I would recommend this tour to anyone who likes the seedy and sorid side of history. LA is filled with these tales of woe. It was a fun day and would do it again.

More fun than a date with Divine Brown!

Remember that name, it will be on your Dearly Departed Final Exam. I live in L.A. and had been wanting to take this tour forever. Not getting any younger, I thought I should do it before I join the Dearly Departed myself. Our tour guide was Brian, and it's downright scary how much he knows about Hollywood scandals, deaths and sleaze. But scary in a GOOD way! Also, free Tootsie Rolls! Enthusiastically recommended for everyone except the squeamish and small children...unless you parental units want to be explaining terms like "autoerotic asphyxiation" to Buddy and Sis.

Not Worth the Money

I really don't recommend this in any way. 40$ is too, TOO much for a simple bus tour. And the fact that 10 minutes into it they are already advertising for other tours is offensive. The tour guide was very sweet, and I liked the pictures included in the tour's booklet, but as a whole I left feeling like a wasted my money and afternoon.

It's not a morbid / death filled tour. It's mixed with alot celebrity info. and interesting stories.Even if you don't care about celebrities, you will enjoy seeing the homes in Beverly Hills,Bell Aire,Hollywood Etc..Scott your guide is very personable ,and has a good sense of humor. It's worth the money. All he needs to do to improve it is add one more pit stop.

Brian D is a good tour guide. Some of the info is mythical, which was definitely OK with us. Also, we felt like he gave us much more than we paid for, and broadened the scope of the tour, which we thoroughly enjoyed. His live of movies and music provided us with a wonderful afternoon.

I really enjoyed my tour with Brian, this was the best tour I have ever been on! I am a massive crime buff, so i managed to get my fix of true crime, history and even some fun facts/trivia! Be sure to go on this tour! I "dragged" my two sceptical friends with me on the tour and by the end they were ravving about how much they loved it!!!

Fantastic Alternative to usual LA tours

WHat a fantastic time we had on this tour. Scott not only knows the ins and outs of what are considered some of the most tragic events in LA, he is also an avid film buff adding an authenticity and personal aspect to the tour. IT out does any of the other tours we went on. Thanks Scott! I Highly recommend this to anyone who wants more than the usual movies stars homes tour...

FANTASTIC

Went on this tour again, because my husband heard me talk about how much I liked it when I had been on it. Brian was great (as one suspects he always is) and made the tour interesting for those of us who had seen it before and for those who had never been on it. Highly recommend for anyone interested in LA history and lore. Brian knows where all the dead bodies are as well as fascinating tidbits about famous people you've seen on tv and movies.

Why should tourists have all the fun? I had heard about this tour and was interested to find out more about local history. Our guide Brian, was wildly funny and imparted information in a fun and interactive manner. This is obviously someone who loves his job. The van was very comfortable in terms of seating and cooling (it was a hot day out). Can't say enough about how much fun this was. Highly recommend!

Excellent way to see the city

We took the dearly departed tour on a beautiful California day. Our guide, Richard, was exceptionally knowledgeable about the area, pointing out all kinds of interesting facts along the way. He was very funny and patient as we asked a hundred questions!! We didn't want to take a tradiional stars homes tour, and thought this would a more fun way to see the city. We were correct, I would recommend this tour to anyone I knew who was visiting the area!!

Good but needs more sights

Our tour guide was Richard Sebastian. He was great. Not easy to keep people entertained for 3+ hrs but he did! I took the tour when it was graveline tours. I thought my boyfriend would enjoy it too which he did. However, I was disappointed we did not see more tragic death locations like where George Reeves died, where Nicole Simpson died or the Tate murders. I am sure that is because of the Helter Skelter Tour but it was disappointing. Or where Sal Mineo died?! I do think the tour needs more murder sites, and maybe less home locations of dead actors. I also think it was slightly too long. Maybe a half hour less. However the price was right. A lot of tour for the price for sure. Thanks!
