Dearly Departed Tours

This tour is true to it's title - it does take you on a tour of the "departed". however it also includes other homes, etc of the stars which I liked (the orphanage Marilyn Monroe lived at). Steve, the tour guide, was great. He was enthusasitc but not too much so. Also if you tell him who/what you like he'll make a point of showing you something on the tour regarding this if it's near where you are. For instance I am a huge entourage fan and he pointed out where Jeremy Piven lived since we were driving through that neighboorhood. there is also a short guide book with photographs that accompanies the tour. I thought this added to the experience.

We loved the tour. We heard interesting, historical facts regarding celebrities and notable people. When I got home I did further research and it seems that everything we heard on the tour was verified on the internet. Our guide, Steve M, was knowledgeable and forthcoming; he was friendly and fun and made sure that we were comfortable at all times. There were plenty of rest stops and a chance for refreshments. I enjoyed the visual aids provided to us for use during the tour, the notebook with photos enhanced the experience. We always have family and friends visiting from out of town, I would recommend that they take this tour. I would even take it, again, with them.

This tour was excellent. It encompassed much detail and obscure facts along with a rather entertaining view of the famous and their departures and those made famous by "departing". For someone not sure which of the many tours out there to select, you would do well by selecting this particular tour. It had a little bit of everything. You are sure to enjoy!

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Our tour host was very friendly, funny and extremely knowledgeable. Everything went very smoothly. The only change I would make is the type of tour bus. Several people on our group were unable to take pictures due to the windows. The bus without the roof, such as the double decker, would be perfect. Bathroom breaks were also welcomed and spaced at good intervals. We will be definitely being taking this tour again when we make another visit. My daughter is a shopaholic and said you should do a shopping tour, such as the fashion district, Rodeo drive etc. lol. I told her I would pass it on.

Driver was late because of a flat and was very apologetic. This tour was informative. We saw more than just what was expected. Guide was knowledgable about many different areas and answered all our questions.

My husband and I along with our daughter and her husband really enjoyed the Dearly Departed Tour. Scott was very knowledgeable and he made the tour very interesting. He went out of his way to make us comfortable on an extremely hot day. We highly recommend this tour and hope in the future to take his others. This tour was one of the highlights of our trip to LA.

What an informative and fun trip! Richard knows the secrets of Hollywood and isn't afraid to tell them. My only complaint is that 3.5 hours isn't enough. I would take the tour again in the future and you should, too.

The tour was well worth it. So much information was provided and we loved seeing areas that you normally wouldn't drive yourself. Scott was very thorough and personable. We are definately planning another tour in a few months.

I had a fun time and thought Scott gave everyone a lot of attention and made the tour fun. I would definitely recommend this to friends who have visitors in town. I enjoyed learning about my own neighborhood! Downside - The parking at the Grove ends up adding to the cost.

Our driver Richard, was very good, knowledgeable and kind. The biggest drawback was the vehicle. If you were on the left, you couldn't see to the right. Many of the homes have lots of foliage, so one's vantage point is limited even in if out in the open. The 15 passenger closed- in van was confining and limited the sight-seeing. bathroom stops were adequate. Good information, fun recordings. All in all a good time, glad we went....but it really could be better in a open top or glass dome top vehicle.

I've taken this tour 3 times now and it was just as fantastic this time as the first 2. After having been escorted around various infamous places by Scott Michaels himself, I was pleasantly surprised that a man named Richard was just as knowledgable and funny as Scott. I knew that Scott wouldn't disappoint in choosing another guide to take through the tragical history of Los Angeles while he embarked on his newly added Helter Skelter tour. Congrats, Scott, on your success!!

Scott does it again! This is the 2nd tour my friend and I have taken with Scott and this was even better! The knowledge he has of events is great! Never a dull moment on this tour. My only complaint.. I get car sick and I should of sat in the front! Needless to say I got my mind off that and things were good again! This tour is by far great if you are interested in hearing about these murders as they happened in that time! The music was great and the film clips take you back to that time! I got a few chills here and there being at the same locations as these murders took place. Scott was open to questions during and after the tour also. I would highly recommend this tour if you are thinking about taking it. My friend and I would take it again and would recommend anyone to takes his tours!

The guide was funny and very knowledgeable. It was sort of hot in the van, but it was stil a great tour.

Only had a day and a half to explore LA so I did a lot of research before deciding on this tour. This tour was great. It moved along quickly seeing some of the "must see" places and then the "off the beaten path" places with notoriaty. The ride was comfortable and the tour guide was full of information and very entertaining. We can't wait to come back for the Helter Skelter tour!

This tour was fantastic!!! We had an amazing time and Scott is the perfect tour guide! I live locally and this was a repeat visit. I love the Glamour of Old Hollywood and seeing the actual locations of so many events and places that some of my favorite movie stars and legendary Hollywood stories I've read about come to life is wonderful! I've taken the tour before and I'll take it again! Thank you Scott for a fabulous afternoon!!!!
