Everything you want to know and more.

Most informative not just on those dearly departed but the history of Hollywood. There wasn't much our tour guide didn't know, don't waste your money on tours of the stars homes as you'll get that as well on this tour. If you only have time for one tour, make this tour it. You'll get history, personal knowledge and a sense of humor thrown in for good measure. It's not just about murders etc, it's a great overview of Hollywood.

The tour was very entertaining and Brian was terrific departing for a few blocks in B.H. to show my 94 year old mother where some of the stars of yesteryear lived. Highly recommend the tour for local and visiting tourists.

The tour guide was great and knew many of the facts surrounding the specific cases of the victims. You could tell that he did his homework. A history of Hollywood and the surrounding area that was very informative and interesting at the same time. Just about the right amount of time for the tour with a convienent bathroom break in the middle. I would take another one of these tours without hesitation.

Dearly Departed is not all inclusive on this tour!

After the tour, I told the guide that they should change their name as the tour includes so much more about Californnia history than just a tour of events about dead people. You will also see some historic landmarks and many little known trivia facts about the area. Most of the tour encompases the Beverly Hills area, which is mostly hidden from anyone viewing the area. Everybody wants to see Rodeo Drive and such, but there is so much more to see in tthe background. I am a trivia buff and a movie buff, and I still learned more than I knew on this tour and that was important to me!

The departed and much much more.

Brian knows L.A. and its history and obviously works hard to be good at his job. He is! He delivers a tour that's not just about the departed, but includes a lot of other fascinating L.A. information. I'm recommending this tour to all my friends who go to L.A. I've been going to L.A. for years and finally decided to do a tour. I couldn't have picked a better one. Thanks for a great time!

Forget the Zombies; here's a real horror-fest.

My daughter selected this tour (Tragical History) as an activity she thought I would like during my visit to Los Angeles. Good guess! I am something of a classic movies buff and especially like film noir. I am not a big fan of the 24/7 cable news coverage of celebrity deaths, but this tour and its phenominally knowledgable guide brought the crimes to life as if they had been 'scooped' in this morning's Times. While waiting for the tour to get underway in the small but interesting office/museum, I was gratified to hear our guide (sorry, I am terrible with names) explaining the details of Jane Mansfield's death--precisely as I remember it from newspaper and radio accounts in the South, where the accident ocurred and where I was living. This unplanned test, along with several other presentations of facts on the tour of which I possess knowledge not generally known, specifically involving Mae West, O.J.Simpson and The Witch's House, certified to my satisfaction that this tour was rooted in facts; the best, most juicy and morbid facts. Our guide did not just concentrate on the macbre; nothing ever occurs in a vacuum and this is very much the case for the sins of Hollywood; deeply set in their matrix of greed, ambition, jealousy and extreme wealth. The wealth of information gleaned from the tour about the nuts and bolts of the movies and Hollywood in general would alone be worth the price, $$, of the tour. In addition, the tales of tragedy befalling such persons as Joey Ramone, Bryan Jones, and Janis Joplin; musicians and not movie people, adds a nice depth to the tale of lives ended too soon by fair means or foul. OK; enough of the love-in. People who may be offended by nude pictures of mutilated bodies; graphic descriptions of horrendous brutality and mutilated bodies; perverse-to-depraved sexuality; extreme human cruelty or even excessive violence would probably be better off spending their time and money at Universal Studios or the wax museum. This subject is not for the faint of heart; it would rate a hard 'R' if it were a film, other than the lack of profanity. In my opinion, it is not suitable for persons under 14 to 16, depending on how world-wise the youngsters are. Thank God I don't have to be the one to tell a twelve-going-on-twenty-one tweeting tween that she can't go because it isn't appropriate. There's a real Hollywood horror story for you! Good as it is, the tour could benefit by a few more stops to get out and explore. Understanding that so much Hollywood history is gone, such as the Brown Derby, it would be worth the while of Dearly Departed to scout a few locations where old/dead Hollywood could be experienced up close and personal. As to specifics, I would have been interested in seeing where Tom Mix buried his horse and where the corpse of Elizabeth Short was located. But that's just me. I cant wait to take the Manson tour next time I'm in town and I give Tragical History Tour two severed thumbs up!

Fantastic Dearly Depaerted Tour

We have been coming to LA for over 25 years. Finally got around to doing the tour. Brian our guide was extremely knowledgeable and very very funny. We had a fabulous time. He managed to fit so much into the almost 3 hour tour and managed to drive safely around the heavy Halloween traffic. We told all our LA friends about the tour because they all need to do it, not just us tourists. I'd like to do it again!

Our Tour guide was very informative and took us to many places not even listed on the tour. He and the owner were so cordial. We thought the tour was much better than the one we went on last year.

I highly recommend this tour. Brian is the best guide I've ever had on a tour and he had us out there for more than the designated time. If you want to see alot of current movie stars homes, this tour isn't for you, but you see and hear about famous crimes and deaths and it was very interesting. So glad I did it!

Loved the enthusiasm and encouraged group participation of the host. He appeared extremly knowledgeable and very friendly. This tour could have gone longer and still seem short, because it remained interesting throughout the tour.

The BEST "Hollywood" Tour Ever!!

Fantastic! Enough death and darkness for those with a taste for gore, but plenty of interesting facts, anecdotes, sites, humor, etc. I highly recommend this tour for everyone. Our tour guide was fantastic, and his comments, interspersed with audio clips of actual interviews, 911 calls, etc., gave us way more info than I anticipated. We saw SO much, I would actually love to do the tour again (or version 2, which I understand is in the works). One thing I really liked was that there were no pauses or lulls in his commentary, so people on the bus did not feel inclined to add comments or carry on conversations, that was nice, everyone was quiet and let the tour guide do the tour!

Remember that name, it will be on your Dearly Departed Final Exam. I live in L.A. and had been wanting to take this tour forever. Not getting any younger, I thought I should do it before I join the Dearly Departed myself. Our tour guide was Brian, and it's downright scary how much he knows about Hollywood scandals, deaths and sleaze. But scary in a GOOD way! Also, free Tootsie Rolls! Enthusiastically recommended for everyone except the squeamish and small children...unless you parental units want to be explaining terms like "autoerotic asphyxiation" to Buddy and Sis.
