Whale Watching in Blue Whale Season (May - Nov)

We went on a Tuesday night for half price, and I don't think it was worth more than that. The boat is basically a large fishing boat with not much room and few places to sit. We ended up climbing on top of one of the bait boxes and sitting there, which was okay for the short amount of time. We did see dolphins and a few sea lions, and they were amazing, but no whales and no coupons off our next visit (because we were already discounted?). As long as expectations are properly set, this is a fine activitiy.

I liked the whole thing. The only thing I would add would be a narration that taught something about the whales. Our captain had quite a lot to say about the dolphins, but very little about the whales. Where were they going, what are their feeding habits, breeding areas, and threats they face. I will definitely go again, probably with a couple of my grandchildren.

Great cruise. When the captain would spot something he would circle around a few times giving everyone a chance to see and give information about the animals we saw. He would even answer questions anyone had. Though we didn't get to see any whales we did see a few different pods of dolphins including one pod with an albino dolphin. Everyone in our group had a great time.

If you want to get a seat, get there early (at least 45 mins). There is very limited seating available on the upper deck. Otherwise, be prepared to stand by the rail for 2 hours. The seating area below deck is very stuffy and will make you seasick even if you are not. Use the restroom before you leave shore. We saw lots and lots of beautiful common dolphins - that made the trip - no whales. The guide didn't have much to say but we didn't care. We paid half price on Tuesday night so it was worth it. We all had fun. Would do it again.

The tour was just "ok". It was non-informative and more of a "take you there and here it is" tour, especially considering its location next to the Ocean discovery. Of course, we didn't see any whales!! I understand it is a hit and miss, at Newport Beach whale watching they had whale sighting at the same day of 3 Whales. Their tour was not available due to a family death, so my visitors was only here for this weekend so our alternative was Dana point. Unfortunately, we were dissapointed. The time witht the dolphins was great, it was lengthy and abundace of them. It would be a so-so recommendation, an alternative to Newport Beach whale watching tour.

I booked this adventure fully realizing that guarantees are not possible when it comes to wild nature! The evening cruise was great, weather was perfect! There was plenty of room to watch from any angle and walk about the boat. And then we spotted dolphins! I would have been happy with that but we kept going out with reports of whales just ahead! And we saw! Whales, spouts, birds, dolphin,and seals(or sea lions)! I honestly believe our Captain was more excited with all we saw than some of the passengers. I was amazed with the whole trip.....and would hope that everyone could experience the nature that we did!

Totally worth the money, especially since I went on a Tuesday evening when it was half price... But it was worth more than full price! It was beautiful!! The Dolphins were wonderful, the Sea Lions utterly amusing to watch and the whales were breathtaking... I just loved the trip. I would have been happy with just seeing the dolphins and the whole swarm of birds that were feeding, so to actually see a whale, which I wasn't expecting even though it was a whale watching trip, that was simply amazing!!!

We saw two whales that surfaced six times, hundreds of dolphins,and a sea lion. It was an incredible trip.

The crew was knowledgable and helped us get what we paid for.
