Whale and Dolphin Watching in Blue Whale Season

I took my 88 year old father, 84 year old mother, 18 year old daughter, and my sister-in-law. There was something for all to enjoy. The only thing that surprised me was that there was no food service. I was really happy that we bought sandwiches before we boarded. All in all, i would highly recommend the trip. The Blue Whale watching cruise far exceeded our expectations. The staff was friendly and knowledgable and imparted just the right info at just the right time. The boat was clean and comfortable, the weather was fantastic, the wildlife cooperated as if trained to do so. The Common Dolphins were there to see in incredible #'s and swam with the boat, performing for us as if trained to do so. Then the HIGHLIGHT of our cruise appeared, A couple of Blue Whales , which we sighted numerous times as they surfaced , swam and dove and reappeared several times to our surprise and enjoyment. We were very lucky, the weather was perfect and we saw lots of dolphins and several blue whales. The guide and crew were courteous and were able to put us at the right spot, at the right time for optimal viewing of the whales when they surfaced. The whole experience was wonderful and we highly recommend it.

The staff was super friendly and knowledgable. The captain gave us a great tour and provided us with grerat info about where we were and what we may see. Although we didn't see any whales, we'd do it again and highly recommend it to others.

I know that no company can guarantee to see any whales, but i still hoped to see at least one. On the last whale watching trip I took they would stop the boat, shut off the engine, stick into the water some kind of tube with a flare at the end, and a microphone in it, i guess to amplify any sounds that might be heard. I saw 5 whales when they used that technique. This company didn't do that. They just roamed around, or so it seemed. We saw TONS of dolphins, but that's not what I went out to see. Aside from the lack of whales, the boat was nice, the staff were nice. I had no other issues.

Our family took the evening trip on the Dana Pride, a very roomy and clean boat with plenty of viewing room. Unfortunately we did not find whales on our trip, but ran with several pods with hundreds of common dolphins. My 6 year old daughter was thrilled for the entire trip and the experience was one well worth the price of admission...crew was very nice and helpful, explaining what we were seeing at every step of the way.

Fun, relaxing, romantic and very educational

This was an amazing whale watching trip! We saw at least two fin whales and some local sea lions. Can't wait to go again!

I have lived in San Clemente for the last 27 years and have gone fishing out of Dana Point since the mid 70's. I was absolutely surprised to see Whales in Late June in local waters! What a terrific experience, I thought whales were only around in migration season
