If you want to get a seat, get there early (at least 45 mins). There is very limited seating available on the upper deck. Otherwise, be prepared to stand by the rail for 2 hours. The seating area below deck is very stuffy and will make you seasick even if you are not. Use the restroom before you leave shore. We saw lots and lots of beautiful common dolphins - that made the trip - no whales. The guide didn't have much to say but we didn't care. We paid half price on Tuesday night so it was worth it. We all had fun. Would do it again.

The boat captain was professional, courteous, knowledgable, and dedicated. We did find a whale to look at and that was exciting for someone who has never seen one before. The boat ride alone was a great way to pass the time. So even if we hadn't found a whale, the ride was nice. The price was not out of line. My wife and my son had a good time too. My wife did have one complaint. According to the trip description, brownies were supposed to have been handed out but we didn't get any.

| We saw four whales during the 2 hour trip, each time we were so excited when we spotted them. Oh, bring your best camera, as I regret I only had my phone camera with me. Still, the photos are great and beautiful.
Crew members are very nice and friendly. A galley with snacks and drinks (yes, including alcohol) are very nice features for me, since I got there hungry.
When the trip was about over, we saw dolphins in the hundreds, jumping and swimming, which was a great view and brought a lot of excitements as well. The boat was comfortable. I think it well worth the time and $$. |

We booked this trip figuring we would see just dolphins. We actually got more than we expected. A blue whale!! The whale surfaced many times. What a great experience to see such a magnificent creature! Would recommend this trip even if all you saw was dolphins. Can't wait until our next trip! Thanks Dana Wharf!

Very well organised trip, spacious boat with plenty of seating. 10 dolphins were swimming very close to the boat and we saw a blue whale swimming with its calf .We then sighted another very large blue whale and several sealions. The whole family had a great time and there was sufficient space on the boat for everybody to have a good view.

We saw lots of dolphins for the first hour, which was okay, but we were there to look for whales. After 1 hour had passed, the captain went in whale searching mode and found a big blue what that was quite far away. He pulled up to where he thought it might surface, and it came up really close to the boat. We followed the whale for 30 minutes and got lots of good views of blows and his tale. I have seen other whales before, but the blue whale is something special.

Evening whale watch tour...saw thousands of dolphins, then TWO Blue Whales. Spent an hour with the whales...saw them up close, and could hear the sound of their blowing...a sound you will never forget...like a call from some prehistoric past. Too beautiful to describe...you have to do it yourself...highly recommend it.

The Dana Point Whale Watching cruise was the best adventure we have experienced in a long while. The captain and crew were outstanding and they knew where to go to see outstanding sea life. Great adventure for everyone.

This whale watching trip short changes to the max. They say if you dont see anything you will get another ticket to go out another time, however if you see ONE dolphin and nothing else, they will not refund you. We saw some dolphins and I guess that was better than not seeing anything at all however my group was very disappointed in the experience overall and will not use this company ever again. I would not reccommend unless you want to pay for a 2 1/2 hour standing boat ride only to see nothing. In my book I would give it half of a star out of ten.
